Liverpool v Manchester United

desperate for a win, long time since we won there, but we need it to keep pace with Shitty.

That's why those game raising twats always up it up when United are in town but can't do it the whole season. Yeh Kenny this isn't the biggest game in your year........................

Our away fans are going to celebrate 19 titles in the scousers back yard!

So a win is a must for us. It would really hurt the bin dippers not just on knocking them back down the league table, but our away fans will have their 19 scarfs and other stuff on show to wind them up.

I can guarantee it also that gerrard and goofy will be diving better than any olympic contender for next years olympic games.

Alan Hansen:

"For Charlie Adam, Jose Enrique, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson, this is a new experience, while most of United's squad have played in this fixture before"

What a load of utter bollocks. Young, Jones, Smalling, Cleverley, DDG....

He's basically saying "I think Liverpool will win because they treat it like a cup final and need to win to keep confidence high". Nothing about the fact that there's a reason we're top...

Tbf, they've had a good record against us in previous years probably for this very reason. Its the biggest match of the season for their players and fans. Its a massive match for us too but we have huge matches all season in various competitions. So there is a probability that their players raise their game a bit more for this match than ours do, with us usually going into the match heavily fancied and being guilty of complacency.

they only raise their game against us because its their cup final.....

Hansen on why Liverpool will win:

"This is why I believe Liverpool will be right up for this and I think they will win. They are playing the team everyone regards as the one to beat in the race for the Premier League title."

We'll win because we're playing the best team...I'm not sure he understands how this whole argumentation thing goes.

"Alan, will Tranmere beat Barca?"

"Of course Tranmere will win, Barca are the best team in the world!"

Every time I've seen Liverpool this season they've been pretty crap.

Expect a good showing on Sat though.

The whole they raise their game for United is obviously true, but it's no excuse really. Yes it's their cup final and we have far more big games throughout the season these days but at the end of the day the match should be just as big for us as it is for them. It's our lack of fight at Anfield in recent years that has let us down more than our actual performances. The first goal could prove decisive but I reckon it'll be a draw this time. We haven't drawn with Liverpool since Roy Keane's last match, a 0-0 at Anfield.

I'm becoming seriously irritated waiting for this match now. :nervous:

Not sure why people are struggling with this concept. He thinks they'll win because for Liverpool this is the biggest game of their whole season and they are at home. For us, its one of many important games for us during the season, so the feeling is that Liverpool might be more up for this particular game (as has appeared to be the case in the last couple of seasons).

I dont agree with him, but his argument does have a bit of logic.

Alan Hansen is always first to critisize Liverpool when they're playing crap or out of sorts. He's not the best pundit out there but he's not Pro-Liverpool either IMO.

But, by his logic, everyone should beat us, because, being the best team in England, we're everyone's biggest game.

Sure, you try hard for your big games, but you can't just say you'll win because it's hard.

He was just as blind to think those were handballs that Dalglish was complaining about. Lineker on MotD was making fun of him for saying he was speaking without bias on that one.

These guys all get their talking points from a machine that calculate the statements more likely to get someone's attention. Hansen got us to watch, for his employers, that's all they ask.

Yep, I agree with you and Hansen: it's a much more important game for Liverpool than it is for us. And when they raise their game, they are the worst possible opposition for us: they press bloody hard all over the pitch, don't give our players a moment on the ball. Of course, Fergie exacerbated the problem by playing the extremely static Carrick-Scholes pairing in CM in each and every one of our last three visits to Anfield.

We are a better footballing side, no doubt but we still hate their intense pressing, we will either have inexperienced or half-fit centre-backs up against Suárez so I expect we'll be outfought in midfield and worn down until we make mistakes leading to goals. Our best chance is that our matchwinners live up to their quality, produce some individual brilliance.

This little snippet from the 'United Review' from the Norwich game raised a smile, from 'The manager's column':

"Their (he's talking about Norwich) visit this afternoon brings yet another Scottish manager to Old Trafford in Paul Lambert to make it 7 Glaswegians (he goes on to name the other 6)....It means that on a dozen occasions over a season I can hear my own language, though I'm not so sure what language Kenny Dalglish uses these days!"

I agree with Hansen and respect his view. I think Liverpool will win, but I just pray that United might be able to pull something out the bag.

Sure, you try hard for your big games, but you can't just say you'll win because it's hard.

He's not saying everyone would beat us for that reason. Liverpool are better than the majority of teams in the premiership. They may very well finish in 4th place this season, so if they wanted to win a fraction more than we did, with home advantage and if they play to their full potential they are good enough to do so.

Again, I don't think they will on this occasion, but I see where he's comin from.

the dippers have a fully-fit squad to chose from....just our bad luck.

-----------DDG---------
Jones---Rio---Vidic---Evra
---------Carrick----------
----Fletcher---Anderson--
Nani-----------------Young
--------Rooney----------

Seems like this side is still a possibility after the news from Fergie's press conference, subject to Vidic declaring himself fit.

This fixture has been annoyingly tough for the last few seasons.. Hoping the lads have a blinder.

SAF's Presser:

Cleverly out for this one. Vidic still a question mark.
