Liverpool

Comments from the Telegraph and Daily Mail (Graham Poll) below, some United fans on the match day commentary who also said it was a dive!

"Danny Welbeck has been growing increasingly frustrated since half time and now he's on the floor in the penalty area after a dive almost as embarrassing as Ashley Cole's at Old Trafford on Monday night. Welbeck is angry, all arms and tall hair. David Moyes is also fuming, but the furious appeals over what was a clear and obvious piece of play acting merely betray how worried the United manager is about how this game is going"

"There was a good example of when a referee should do nothing as Aspas and Welbeck came together: it was neither a dive nor a penalty"

Again, go and watch the footage. Aspas clearly clips him. Like I said - the ref was never going to give it. He'd played 60 minutes of a home special it was going to take more than that. You can go back a couple of minutes before that and watch Welbeck flatten Gerrard legitimately with Gerrard in no position to win the ball at all basically running into Welbeck and getting a free kick.

It wasn't a dive and it probably wasn't a pen either. Just a coming together. He might have got something outside the area but there's too many reasons for the referee not to give it (Welbeck running out of room, being at Anfield etc)

Watched the footage and would have been a very soft pen.

There was contact none the less. But when you consider Lucas going right through Evra not even looking at the ball was given play on (when Johnson was injured) I am not surprised. Even on a day of soft touches we probably wouldn't have gotten that.

feck me, Lucas going in 20 mins in on Welbeck, nothing given. Dangerous studs. Utterly bonkers how this guy gets away with so many bad fouls.

Contact doesnt constitute a penalty though. Highlighting every challenge in the game where something wasn't given in your favour doesn't work either. There really wasn't a great deal of niggle in this game at all. United players got wound up and Liverpool players tried to play on that as they were in Anfield. Best way to shut up any home support and a niggly player is to score a goal. United didn't do this but have no reason to feel hard done by IMHO.

Hence why I said multiple times it was never going to be given.

No niggle..? Turn it up. Were you watching the same game Slevs watched?

Think you should reread the post. I never said there was no niggle. There is always going to be some in a game like this but I didn't see any more than normally occurs in any game.

This is feckin absurd with the leg kick out. It's like a fecking mortal combat sweep for christs sake. Apart from being dangerous as feck backing into someone in the air intentionally like that.

I am still aghast at how the ref didn't blow a FK instantly. Implying there was not that much niggle is ridiculous. Nearly every challenge on the ball the Liverpool players went in 100% regardless of whether they were going to seriously injure players or not, let alone win the ball. To be honest on a few of them they were lucky that the ref was such a massive homer and/or some of our lads saw them coming.

Good to have you back IWTK. What about them cynical tackles by the Tyrone minors in the last few minutes of the game against Roscommon. Smalltime and disgraceful :)

It's called being cute Irwin. Every team does it. I didn't see more of it than usual in this game. I think united lacked a quality finish in this game and we hung on for a 1-0 win.

If I ever hear a Liverpool supporting GAA fan complaining about Tyrone after that I'll fecking cynical tackle their face.

Big fat meh challenge for me. He backed in and it should've been a free but beyond that really it wasn't bad. The kick didn't injure jones. He wobbled his ankle on Coutinho's standing leg on the way down which caused the problem.

Good to have you back Irwin. I thought a Tyrone man would appreciate a performance like that. Gritty, backs to the wall but ground it out! haha

You talk about small-time Irwinwastheking but nothing is more small-time than this "game raising" excuse you guys come up with every single time we and probably any other team beats you. It is so ridiculously childish that it doesn't even make sense as an excuse. Basically, in trying to excuse your defeats, you use the excuse that you can only win when the other team doesn't try so actually, in trying to belittle other teams' achievements you come out even worse.

It's interesting how a trip to the football forum can give a different perspective. I always had you down as a pretty easy going fella and had no idea you could get so worked up about something (not the losing but the so-called actions of our players) ;)

Liverpool absolutely raise their game when they play United.

And yet we play terribly and still win?

He's right though, it's a fecking stupid thing to say. As if a team wouldn't need to raise their game when facing the Champions.

They do it even when United aren't champions. Do you believe they put the same effort into every game that they do against United?

Liverpool could be (and have been) in a terrible run of form before they play United, and for that 90 minutes they'll look like a good team, playing good football. Then the week after you'll get humped off Southampton.

Yes, you did. You always do. United at home is your biggest game of the season.

Liverpool didnt set the world on fire and united were poor. We won a pretty poor game. My understanding of game raising is where you lift your game and play well against another side. We didn't play well. I think we were much better against stoke so no we didnt raise our game. We did however win.

IWTK has said Liverpool played poorly and relied on bully boy tactics and a homer ref to win. Now you're saying we played well and looked like a good team? I'm confused. Did we win a poor game or did we raise our game to beat the champions?

I'm not disputing that we do but it's the same for every team playing their biggest rivals or a local derby. It's that you find this unusual, or worse, an excuse for you not winning which is the issue for me. If you know we're going to "raise our game" to use your terminology, would it not make sense for you boys to "raise your game" to try and combat this? Or do you just think "oh no, they're going to try really hard, we've no chance"

It doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

I'm not easy going at all, I'm a complete moron cnut tbf. Doesn't make my hatred of Liverpool players any less than it is.

Also, I don't complain about when other smaller teams take points of us, I complain about the whole package that your boys delivered last weekend. If you actually read my first post in this thread I don't think I even mentioned the scoreline or the game raising (I may have but I can't be arsed to check). I was merely pointing out how much of a team of pricks you have at the moment from the backline to your forwards. Remarkable how few likeable players you actually have.

I think Lance has discovered the secret of success. All you have to do is just decide to try really hard and you'll achieve all of your goals.

You've misread my post. Basically, Liverpool do raise their game against the likes of United, Everton, City, Chelsea etc.

I can assure you that the feeling is mutual in relation to your players. I don't think I've seen a face I'd rather punch more, since Neville retired, than Van Persie's last weekend. He's a dirty hateful toerag.

Now, back on to the pressing issue. Losing against teams that try to win. What's that all about? :p

Surrender followed by ridiculous strawman. You just made my list.
