Liverpool

Begrudgingly ... deserves recognition and respect. Of course its early days and they wont stay there for long, but Im glad for Rodgers that his talent and vision is starting to pay off.

Looking forward to a few seasons of stiff competition with them now that things are more equal for them with a SAF-less Manchester United.

Any predictions on how their season will play out and where they will end up this year?

Sorry. Not even begrudgingly.

Great thread!
It won't last long as we are not good enough.
Our defence is stronger and with Johnson and Cissokho to come back we are in good shape there, Suarez and Sturridge are as good a pairing as anyone else has and once Coutinho is back potentially we could be even better.
However we have the weakest midfield of all the possible contenders and need to strengthen in January.
Hopefully we can be competing for 4th near the end of the season.

feck them.

What

..... ahhh it's October!

Well done Liverpool!

Has the "this is our normal level, the past 20 years were a minor blip" brigade raised their heads yet?

In the spirit of the OP, I think it is only fair to reciprocate:

Now that things are more equal for you with a SAF-less Manchester United, it deserves recognition and respect that Moyes has finally broken into the upper half of the table. Of course its early days and you wont stay there for long, but Im glad for Gollum that his talent and vision is starting to pay off against the likes of Sunderland, WBA and Crystal Palace.

They'l finish 6th. They're playing some good football though but need to improve considerably to think of a top 4 finish unless they somehow manage an injury free season and 2 of the top 5 have major feck ups.

Brenton deserves credit for his tactical flexibility, whether in the long run he'll overdo it am not too sure but it is nice to see a manager who tries new systems which suit the talent at his disposal rather than the same old of 4-4-2 and what have you.

This never ends well for you guys...

Get your tables out for the lads, anyone?

I doubt they'll be able to sustain a title challenge but they've made an excellent start nevertheless and look like a side that could make a very good challenge for a CL place this year, which is more than most of us expected of them at the start of the season. Suarez/Sturridge is looking like a very good partnership while they look impressive at the moment around the rest of the pitch. Not strong enough to win the league, but certainly good enough to challenge for top 4 now.

 You may have won the battle, but we'll win the war.

Let's start a Southampton are in the top 4 thread while we're at it, and i can't wait for arsenal top of the table and spurs top of the table threads later, if we're going to give credit let's not forget anyone, as a matter of fact this should be a sticky so we can keep giving credit because that's just how we do.

So we've had our easier run of games. Next four are Newcastle away, West Brom home, Arsenal away then Fulham at home.

Before we enter our bust cycle in November. I'm hoping for at least 6 points from these 12. Anymore would be a nice, and much needed, Brucie.

I love it when we do the scouse on GD.

There's actually quite a spooky coincidence regarding your last minute title win in 1989.

In 1988 Liverpool won the league by 9 points.
In 1989 Liverpool had the title snatched from their grasp by a last minute goal.
In 1990 Liverpool strolled to yet another league title.

In 2011 Manchester United won the league by 9 points.
In 2012 Manchester United had the title snatched from their grasp by a last minute goal.
In 2013 Manchester United strolled to yet another league title.

Liverpool's demise came about when they replaced their successful Scottish manager with another Scottish manager.

Manchester United have recently replaced their successful Scottish manager with another Scottish manager.

Scary stuff eh ?

RAWK will be a great laugh on the weekend we inevitably overtake them on the table.

What we need to do is get a Northern Irish manager in and we'll be top of the league in no time.

David Jeffrey, anyone?

The top teams in the PL are so poor this year that Liverpool actually look like genuine title contenders. They don't have the squad to last though imo. An injury to Sturridge or Suarez and they'll struggle. If Sturridge stays fit and Suarez stays suspension-free then they'll be there or thereabouts. They played some beautiful stuff yesterday though admittedly Crystal Palace are crap.

Nah, he's shit.

He's Fergie-lite!

Won some leagues up in Scotland and took a Scottish team to a UEFA Final! Then, err, did quite well at Villa for a spell but it looses all parallels after that.

Three wins in their first three did not reflect how they were playing at the time.
