I don't think it's so much the emotion, it was more the show of it. He might very well have been overcome with emotion but he was forcing the 'tears'.

The hand over the eyes, the heavy breathing and when everyone was crowding over the top of him, the little grin emerged. No doubt he would have had a whole mix of emotions running through him and rightly so, good on him. But if it wasn't in front of the cameras, I think we would have seen a different reaction and really, no one can argue that. Most captains do that in moments like that but usually in the changeroom.
I didn't find any of it embarrassing whatsoever, Hillsborough is an incredibly emotional time for him considering Jon Paul. It's nice to see him actually care so much. However it would be much nicer for him not to lift it.

It's inevitable really, innit? The season where Fergie retired, Giggs' scoring streak stopped, we were dismal, Liverpool of all teams had to win the title.
It was always going to happen. I honestly think our 'decline' has played a huge part in their success. it has given everyone at their club a lift, there is now a great atmosphere at Anfield, us appointing the manager they hated just added to their fun.
Don't get me wrong, they have deserved to win the title and fair play to them but the mood has been helped by the situation we find ourselves in. Same goes for Everton to an extent.

I don't think your form has anything to do with it, they are on this run because they've found a system which works and have top class players in their front three. Quite possibly the most devastating attack this league has seen, mostly thanks to Suarez but the others have been class as well.
If you go on a run like they have, it pretty much means a title win. Yes, it's because they are managed well but they are still in great form with luck on their side.

No you're right the significance of the game was magnified ten fold due to it happening so close to the Hillsborough anniversary.

The only Liverpool fan on my Facebook has just started posting cringeworthy statuses all finishing YAWN. He was a good guy, but I might have to delete him soon.

Its not at all the same. Those scenes of Kidd and Ferguson on the pitch celebrating a last minute goal that more or less won the title are not at all the same a Gerard's 'huddle' about the Norwich game. That kind of stuff is for the dressing room. I hope it blows up in their faces. At Norwich. The sooner the better.

To be frank, neither were embarrassing. Human response to a seminal moment.
All I'm saying is that he went over the top, with 4 games left it could end up looking really silly.
Not the same coz a United fan didn't like seeing it. Absolutely nothing wrong with the huddle. It was a moment. It was spontaneous. It wasn't disrespectful to anybody.
Just seems like a flimsy attempt to get at Liverpool / Gerrard.

Everybody loves LFC now that they're almost back on top.. except mancs. The media want them to win it( neville included), even other mgrs want them back on top. Even Suarez is untouchable, and Gerrard will be knighted. It's the way it should be and it's very enjoyable
The gloating on here by you guys is reaching levels of annoyance that are barely bearable. And I don't usually get that annoyed about anything football related, so I can only imagine what it must be like for die hard old timers Utd supporters.
