Liverpool

Been reading that. Some of them are giving Martinez stick for this:

Martinez: "It will be a special moment in the history of both clubs if Everton help neighbours to title".

Clueless.

This feller's really testing many blues' patience with this tripe The Mr Nice Guy routine taken too far and he's losing bucket loads of respect and support with every bit of nonsense he comes out with.

And

But for once, just this one time, I want Everton, my Everton, to lose.
Call me fickle, call me odd, but don't dare say I don't love my club. Don't dare chastise me for wanting the soulless, classless, inbred shower of sh1te we are unfortunate to share a city with, to fall flat on their smug, over bearing, patronising faces as Everton, my Everton, MY ONLY EVERTON, roll over and allow their title rivals to waltz off into the sunset with the much needed three points.

4th is gone.

fuk them, fuk their fans, fuk the redsh1te.
Call you spot on. Those Blues that went to watch them show off their first CL trophy at St George's Hall were taught an important lesson about life. Know your enemy. They've been trying to obliterate us since Bill Wankly first arrived.

I'm not surprised by that one bit, the shit I see my toffee mates getting from the red shite. It's the same as us, a league win for la'pool and we'll/they'll never hear the end of it.

Here's one: Liverpool are on 96 goals. Has a team in any league ever scored 100 goals and lost the league on goal difference? That just sounds mind boggling to me. If they lose it on goal difference to score so many goals.

The league has been won on GA/GD/GS on six occasions.

1923/24 Huddersfield Town GA. Finished level with Cardiff City on Points (and GD) - winning on GA by 1 goal effectively.
1949/50 Portsmouth GA. Beat Wolves on GA, but also by +9 GD.
1952/53 Arsenal GA. Beat Preston North End on GA, but also by +8 GD.
1964/65 Man United GA. Beat Leeds on GA, but also by +19 GD.
1988/89 Arsenal GS. Finished level with Liverpool on Points and GD. Won by +8 GS.
2011/12 Man City GD. Finished level with Man United. Win by +8 GD.

Sorry. Missed this part. In none of those did the runner-up score 100 goals (or an equivalent 38 game total).

Liverpool are on track (based on ytd) for 101 goals. In absolute terms, if they don't win the title, that would give them the best total for a non-winner since Spurs' 111 goals in a 42-game 1962/63.

Looking at gpg (38 game equivalent), it would be the best since Aston Villa's almost 116 goals in 1930/31. They actually scored 128 goals in 42 games.

If I had asked this forum at the start of the season where we would finish the majority would have answered 6th or 7th. We're 2nd. 2nd with two games left, joint on points with City who are ahead of us by 9 goal difference. Don't write us off. We never do things the easy way. This attack is more than capable of smashing a team. We've stuck 5 past Arsenal, 5 past Spurs, 6 past Cardiff, 4 past Everton and there's been many other scorelines like this. In each of these games except maybe Cardiff, there has been one thing in common. We've downed our tempo. We've gone into 2nd gear. If we score early and play the full 90 going for goals, then there's no reason we can't smash Palace and Newcastle. :)

Pure desperation

Your only chance is City drawing against Villa or Wham. Won't happen though. The next year will be your year ;)

No way a Pulis team would concede a hateful. I could see Newcastle conceding 6-7 on a really bad day but it wont be enough.

Hasn't happened all season, and I can't see it happening now. Liverpool have been the same all season, going shit or bust for the first 45 and then tailing off in the second half. 58 goals in the first half of matches, compared to 38 in the second. If you take it to the first hour of matches it's 72 goals in that time. Liverpool have only scored 24 of their 96 goals in the final half hour.

As I said in the other thread, you've got more hope of City dropping points than you spanking both Crystal Pulis and Newcastle by a combined difference of 12+ goals.

Absolutely.

Lay off you cnuts.

In most games we haven't had to score late. We've been able to rest the 2nd half because we've been up so early.

Absolutely.

I think I'd love for Liverpool to stick five past Palace on Monday, and then needing to win by eight goals against Newcastle on the final day, Stevie fecking Me misses a 95th minute penalty when 7-0 up.

That's the only way this season can get any better for us (considering our season ended in the Allianz a few weeks ago).

I'd honestly pay for that to happen.

You are getting carried away too far. Almost at Barney levels. Have few beers and lie down for a while.

I call that baloney, Barney. I posted a few months ago about Liverpool being a "first-half team". The evidence was there for all to see, but it's actually been even more apparent in recent weeks. I first noticed it in the Liverpool - United game at Anfield: your lot started at 100mph but couldn't run five yards not string a pass together in the second half. You were awfully lucky to claim all three points that day. It's happened a bunch of times since, too (most notably at home to City when you - again - benefited from luck with the late Kompany howler).

And because you're up so early, you won't have the legs to keep it going for 90 minutes.

:nono:

How about Liverpool lose to Palace and City lose to Villa and Chelsea scoop it with a late winner from Torres?

 It's getting quite feisty in there.

I'm really enjoying this run in for once!

Tell you what though, this is probably Liverpool's best chance on taking the prem, if they blow this I can't see them near again for a while especially after Suarez buggers off.
And it's because United will be back!

It's 90. Not 180. They'll have a week to rest in between the two.

Stop being mental. No one can rely on adrenaline for 180 minutes of football, regardless of a week in between. They'll be fecked physically and mentally after one match if they're relying on adrenaline, and it's a hell of an injury risk to think that adrenaline can get them through another 90. Just accept that the best hope is City bottling it, and not Liverpool winning two games by a margin of 12+ goals.

Again, its not 180. Its maybe the last 20 in a game when you'll need it to carry you through.

It's the most likely, sure.

Anybody who is confident City won't find a way to mess this up is living in dreamland. If any of the contenders have it in them, its this City side.

i think barney knows what the best hope is but no harm in hoping for a deluge of goals too. Personally i don't see it. I think Suarez went off the boil and sturridge got a knock just at squeaky bum time. I hope barney is right though

Barney still trying to make the most of the remaining opportunity to try to wind us up.

Not at all. I'm remaining optimistic.

You were on the forum when you lost it to City on GD, people said similar things then. The difference is our attack is better equipped to smash a team than yours was then.

You're still being mental. Barely any team could cope with shit or bust football for two consecutive matches. The ones that can have much greater strength in depth than Liverpool.

Last time we won the league we beat Palace 9-0. Just saying like. :)

Last time Liverpool won the league, Luton were a top-flight team. They're non-league now. The 9-0 also happened in September.
