Why can't he see that Rooney is past it? We would score goals for fun if we had a proper striker.

Things I can't understand:

1) Rooney scored a hatrick in 60 minutes in midweek. Why didn't he take him out to stay frish?
2) He talked about Fellaini playing more up top. Why didn't he bring him on in the last 30 minutes of the Brugge game to gain some momentum given that he played only 10 minutes before today. Could have substituted Rooney without us losing anything.
3) We're trailing against Swansea with half an hour to go. You bring on Young with the intention to play crosses. Why do you wait with the Fellaini sub? Just bring him on.
4) Where is the motivation during the games? I know that he does not like to stand on the touchline, but sometimes you need to. If not you, then send Giggs to do that. Just show something.

The tide will turn extremely quickly if he doesn't get us scoring goals soon. I can't see anyone in the squad capable of getting on he scoresheet consistently with our current set-up, but if we'd had a top striker leading he line we'd at least double our output.

A severe change of tactics and/or additions to our attack is an absolute must. Four games in the league where we've looked completely incapable of scoring goals. If we keep at our current game plan with our current personnel he is insane by Einstein's definition of the word.

I still fill position about him, but I think next 48 hours will decide lot about him,
If next few game we play like this I might change my decision.

Van Gaal's cautiousness will be his undoing. What happened to the coach of Ajax and Barcelona who let his players take risks? He demands sterile domination, rather than really testing teams when we're on top. Then when our moment passes he resorts to route one. If when we were controlling matches we took a few more risks, tried a few more difficult through passes, things would look so much different. Van Gaal used to be the man who liked that sort of thing. Now he's becoming everything his enemies always said.
That's the thing, most people still believe he is still the same manager, but he is not.

This. Why he as had run ins with some top players.
Thing is, that's not going to change no matter the personnel, team selections, or tactics. Judging by the almost total lack of improvement since day 1 of his tenure I don't expect any improvement anytime soon.

I think what we're seeing now is more an issue of players than van gaal, we look like a good solid unit, certainly better than last season.

Rooney has cost us points, he really did, maybe it's on van gaal that we're starting this season without replacing the players we've sold, but it's not his tactics this time.

It's not the fact we've lost its how we're still playing this awful football. It's shocking and his post match interviews suggest that he's happy. It's really concerning, if this was a rival teams manager I'd be laughing my arse off.

What is this "Unit" you speak of? Does an attacking unit exist?

HE joined and said it takes 3 months for him to implement his philosophy. 13 months on and we're still waiting.

Oh well let's hope he's laying the foundations a la Bayern...

You aren't gonna create 20 chances against swansea away, this was a difficult game and rooney was more than capable of getting us the points, he couldn't get even one chance on target and was at fault of their first goal.

If he gets United out of the top four then he himself should quit. We haven't been entertaining to watch. Brugge was good only because they were not a good footballing team. Swansea was the first real test for United. Away from home, last 2 defeats. Perfect opportunity to prove everyone wrong. But it looks like a lot of work till needs to be done. For a club of United's stature, this is not good. Very very disappointing.

This IS the philosophy. It's well and truly implemented, and it's pretty fecking awful.

I just don't want to believe that this is what he wanted to put in place here. It's beyond shocking

The truth of the matter is if United decided to sack him tomorrow, there wouldn't be a lot of people in Van Gaal's corner, arguing his case. He's done slightly better than Moyes (but then again who wouldn't) and spent £250m while doing it.

How much did he spend last season? Will be interesting to see his net spending compared to Moyes's.

It's a sackable offence to keep playing Rooney. Other thsn that I don't mind having him as a United manager.

I'd rather stab myself in the head with an ice pick than endure another game of castrated back pass mediocrity.

If Rooney keeps on playing then he has to go. It's blatantly obvious he's nowhere near good enough.

Come on mate. Net spend? is that really going to win conversations for who did well as a United manager. Our fans are incredibly critical and so is the media. At the end of the day, results are all that matter to us fans.

when United hired him i heard he had a long history of falling-out with players. Could a behind close doors conversations with Valdes got a better outcome? He's surely better than all we have now par DDG. i thought when he put it out to the public during the US tour i thought there's no way back now.

Moyes signed only Fellaini and Mata for around £60m.

Not sure how much the total LVG has spent.

One thing that really worries me is, what creative type of player would want to play for us when we have no ambitions of letting our players creative football

Apart from anything else, he should never have said that he's leaving in a year or two. I really liked him to start with. I'm finding him irritating now, and am increasingly worried about our lack of transfer activity when it's patently obvious that we need a quick striker to support Wayne. I don't know if it's down to LVG or Woodward, but we're being left behind and it seems to be getting harder to attract quality players.

If he thinks our squad is fine up-front, then he's a crazy person.

I'm not really comfortable with our defense either, but our problems up front is a greater concern.
I thought it was obvious that he was a crazy person after about a week of him being here.

I just assumed he was a crazy person who knew how to play good football and win.
