What can you do differently?
I cannot do anything anymore because we cannot train: we can only recover and recover. We have to score in the next match and then everybody will be happy again, and especially against CSKA Moscow it is very important to score.

He's pissing me off and I'm nit-picking, but this is shite. Last season he complained about the lack of match rhythm, because we didn't play midweek, now he's complaining about not being able to train. The bold part is more than frustrating.

Why aren't they training. Ok they might rest tomorrow, but they can train Monday. Then have Wednesday off, back in Thursday.

I'm slowly getting to that stage where I just can't wait for LVG and his shit on a stick football to feck off.

Yes, he's rebuilt the squad well, and its in far better shape then it was at the end of the Moyes era, so thankyou for that. But he has sucked all the life, and all the joy out of watching United thesedays. Its a chore now, not an enjoyment. Even games we win are boring.

If we continue playing this way, even if we win UCL, I would still prefer to see him leaving. Trophies are nice, but not if you have to experience 40+ times this boring, tumescent, unwatchable shit.

I don't think we have to worry about winning anything with 0-0 draws, less shots than Sunderland this season, collectively less goals as a club than Jamie Vardy as an individual, more sideward and backward passes than any other team and less forward passes.

I completely agree, this lackadaisical crap is inexcusable and LVG's complete ignorance in even addressing the fact that his current strategies, team selection and substitutions didn't work the first time he tried it and haven't tried every time since....

I said he'd never win the PL, because his football just isn't suited to it, and nothing has changed my mind.

He should be thanked for doing a good rebuild job, and for laying the foundations, and then asked to leave in the Summer. Time for someone to come in who can take us to the next stage.

I said he'd never win the PL, because his football just isn't suited to it, and nothing has changed my mind.

Forget the PL, I said we'll never win a single trophy under him. Just depressing that we'll have another season trophy-less despite the $$$ spent.

I'd be very disappointed if he was still our manager next season.

I feel sorry for LVG. The Rooney situation is far bigger than he could have imagined. It is true that a large number of people are calling out for Rooney to be benched but if LVG confined Rooney to the bench for a number of games all hell would break loose. The media and die-hard Rooney fans would create havoc.
Rooney remains the face of English football and Utd is the greatest English club, LVG has to tread carefully. I think LVG is just hoping that Rooney will break the scoring record sooner rather than later then he will find a way to ease Rooney out of the picture.

I have to stop you there. John Terry and Steven Gerrard (especially him) have/had media and die-hard fans kissing their respective asses as well, but that didn't stop their managers from benching them and phasing them out. So far, history proves the managers right regardless of how the decisions affected their respective teams since; Terry and Gerrard are totally finished at top level, end of. Rooney shouldn't escape that fate because he's the most popular English player and blah blah blah. Furthermore, no manager can satisfy one individual while being detrimental to the rest of the team. That would be asking to lose the dressing room because players also see the same thing on the pitch as we do.

That moment today when Rooney was not able to keep up with what was a perfect through ball was Martial IS the mental image everyone must keep now because it speaks volumes. Rooney has lost that extra step/split second that makes a world of difference between quality and average.

Arrogant cnut, who keeps making excuses and has his team produces the most dire performances in decades. Cant wait to have manager who has the intention to entertain the fans, and doesnt do it for the possession stats.
Ouch

And we say bluemoon are over the top...

If he's a cnut is maybe entitled to your own opinion, the rest is pure truth. He's so arrogant, has been making excuses since he entered Manchester and we play so awful football. Few goals, few chances, little action, little attacking intention. Just the possession, that's his oxygen it seems.

Ouch

And we say bluemoon are over the top...

Well, he's still right on the money though. There are times (not always, but a number of times) when I feel bored a lot more under Van Gaal than I was under Moyes. And for the record, I was extremely critical of Moyes back then.

As long as we progress by getting closer to the title i support LvG, a third place should be the minimum though, especially with Chelsea out of the Picture.

It seems.with each passing game I'm getting closer to the sacl him at the end of the season. I honestly think the club are going to make a massive mistake ifnthey honour LVG's final year and don't break there backs to bring Pep in over the summer.

I love Giggs but to give this project to anyone who hasn't managed before at the top level is crazy! Sure every 1\50 cases works out amazingly but the other 49 just take teams backwards.

Back to LVG, I tire of his excuses and his lack of understanding with the fans, saying we are entertained it insulting, he seems more bothered about 'controlling the game' than he does winning it.

If it was down to me I'd be already getting Pep confirmed to start in the summer.

Neither Terry nor Gerrard was the face of English football. LVG is not a fool he obviously sees what we see yet he persists with Rooney. There must be some underlying reason, I do not believe that its merely his ego that dictates his actions.

Hmmm, sort of were (or at least in the picture). Gerrard especially.

I feel sorry for England as a national side if Rooney is still player they're bigging up for France next summer. Surely you lot have some better players than him?

There was a time when I believe Steven Gerrard was easily up there as a top favorite for neutrals and other fans who don't give a damn about Liverpool. Even that didn't stop Brendan Rodgers from dropping him; Gerrard only took care of the rest by being continuously shit in his own way before he left.

Seriously though, I want to see the Louis van Gaal from those clips on YouTube (esp. the best of Louis van Gaal part 1) in which he takes radical decisions and keeps calling this or that journalist an idiot while defending his own decisions. Where has he been? People want to see that man, not that empty shell who only resembles Louis van Gaal on the surface. Drop Rooney and go to war with the media, Louis; you will regain some support on the day you do it.

Sack him ffs. He is a good manager apparently but he fecking is NOT suited to United. I will fecking fall asleep next time I watch this spineless BORING feckING SHITE. Entertainment please not fecking gutless Shite. I will love you always like I did during the Hard times in the 70s but we have to get this Shite out. Lvg OUT

I think that Rooney's poor performances will make it easier for LVG to drop him. The problem is that doing it will not automatically ensure success because we still lack creativity and if we continue to have poor results with Rooney on the bench then people will feel justified in saying that LVG is the one that should go and not Rooney. It really is complicated.

United have a decision to make come the end of the season. Guardiola, Ancelotti, Mourinho (if you're desperate) could all be available. He's had money, he's had time, he's running out of excuses. Three games, five hours of football and no goals to show for it isn't good enough. If you really wanted a positive you've kept three clean sheets in a row, but that's now really something the biggest clubs should be celebrating.

The problem is we can't compare ourselves to the biggest Clubs player quality wise. Our attackers are shite bar Martial but he is 19!!!, you can't expect to roll over teams with these players.
Yes he is making a mistake with Rooney, but the alternatives to him if he was to be benched is shady at best.

Martial - Fantastic talent, cannot praise him enough.
Young - Player with limited ability, he does seem to get most out of it though.
Depay - Bad start to the League, let's see how he adapts.
Rooney - Declining, rapidly.
Mata - How influential is he really? Can play football though.
Lingard - Unproven
Pereira - Unproven
Wilson - Unproven

We are just nowhere near Bayern, Barca, Real and some other clubs that have one player that is star quality of which we lack.

Some people use the "but he had the Money so he could just have bought the attacking players", it's just not that simple when the players with the required quality is at the hands of top 3 clubs or PRL sides who would never sell to us.

Instead we have to go for the likes of Depay and Martial and it takes time for such young players to shine, if they ever will.

This was never a two year project, the rebuild has been massive, the squad really was a big shambles. I will judge LvG properly when we finally get the attacking players needed.

Please spare me. We could bring in Cristiano at his prime and still conjure up boring impotence every week. It's not the players, or lack of them, that we should be looking at, it's the approach espoused by LVG that is the core issue. Let's not even talk about goals; this shitty system has us creating the fewest chances in the league whilst having the most possession. There is zero tempo in the movement and passing. All we do is pass it around and probe while allowing the opposition to park 10 men in their own half.

Throw in LVG's excuses week in week out about fitness and training and it all amounts to an impressive pile of bullshit. You think Leicester need world class players to score? Poor LVG for not having the right attacking players.

Leicester have great players in Mahrez and Vardy, currently with their form they are some of the best players in the world.

But the two teams can't be compared because Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs so 9/10 games the pressure will be on us to create, and when we don't have the firepower in attack to back up our status, teams can park the bus without much worry.

I have totally different expectations from LvG compared with most here.So dont want to sound like i am defending him but maybe just maybe he finds this way the best solution for this current squad. What i mean is,maybe he finds that if we switch to more entertaining way, players would fail and teams would rip us apart more often (rip apart is to strong maybe).Think he did something similar with Dutch national side.

Only 6 survivors to the squad he found, so he could have set them up any way he wants. And he's backed financially to able to achieve that.

I'm on the fence in relation to LvG...However, on the topic of this "he's rebuilding" craic

Arsene Wenger came to Arsenal in 1996/1997 season. He transformed them from a club that played boring football, with a big drinking culture, into a club/team that was the most entertaining in England and champions, all in the space of 20 months. And he done it without a heap of money or pleas of "I need time. It's a process" and, more impressively, he done it against a United team in the 1990's

Maybe I'm being too harsh or expecting too much or but, I did expect the same type of thing from LvG when he came in.

I can understand the lot who would sack him at the end of the season IF Guardiola became available. That makes some sense, not least since it could be a matter of snatching him before City - or Chelsea - do.

But those who want LVG gone NOW - and even worse, those who seem to think that anyone (barring Moyes, of course) would be preferable - are, let's say (in the spirit of diplomacy) a bit rash.

The results do not warrant a sacking - clearly not. It's Nov 1st and we're a few measly points off the leaders. Secondly, we don't even know what LVG's job description is. If he is, at least partly, hired to oversee a rebuild of the whole apparatus (including the youth set-up), it would be insanely short sighted to fire him simply because we're not particularly entertaining.

As long as he keeps us in the top four, he should - obviously - stay on. And then - as suggested - IF a golden opportunity comes along after this season, we should look at that opportunity very closely.

I thought everything would be better once Herrera comes into the starting 11?

Spot on. Look at what's happening at Chelsea right now. Money don't guarantee success. There aren't many managers who are better than LvG. I don't like his philosophy but he is doing something right, given that we are in the CL and will be there next season too.

You expected Van Gaal to make us not only champions but to be the most entertaining side in 20 months because Wenger did it 20 years ago. No, you clearly had very realistic expectations that are reasonable to judge a manager on.

I respect your view, I can't agree though. To me entertainment comes first, trophies second. Lvg is a very competent manager which he has proven in the past, but this kind of football that we play game after game is doing my head in. Manchester United has always been about entertaining football and to get people off their seats and I love that about our club. I'm sorry but I want anyone who is prepared to let the players express themselves to come in replacing Lvg and I want it to happen now. I didnt want Moyes out, thought he needed time btw, but I have seen enough of this drivel that is the philosophy of MR van gaal. Trophies or not, I want MUFC back

He's starting to really frustrate me. Some of his comments after the match yesterday are just ridiculous. Blamed the fact that we didn't have enough of the ball on our lack of chances...

"[Today] we didn't create so many chances so it's more difficult. When you don't keep the ball you can't create chances."

Hello?! We had 56% possession. Creating nothing. Palace created more with less. This obsession with keeping the ball over actually being more direct and creating chances/shooting is completely stifling us. We just play this slow 'move the ball side to side' style and the opposition have five minutes to get behind the ball and get organised... then we wonder why it's tough to break them down. Pathetic.

And why are Mahrez and Vardy performing well? It's because of Leicester's system. Unlike us they don't wait for the opposition to get set in defence and then pass it around. They just hit at speed and play direct passes with good movement off the ball.

You know switching to play more offensively doesn't mean teams will magically start to find holes in your defence and drill us to bits. On the contrary, they'd have to defend out of fear of conceding.

yep, yesterday Palace demolished that theory
