Luis Nani | 2012/13 Performances

we're just playing hardball begotiations, as we are probably sick of Real Madrid/City Rumours everytime we renogiate terms on players.

i just hope that this is the case

Didn't all this stem from an under par performance against Everton? Everyones getting caught up a bit here.

Well there was lots of speculation before that, and then him being dropped for the Fulham game certainly didn't help, but all our other underperformers were dropped too. Rooney, Welbeck, Scholes, it's just that they still got places on the bench.

people are panicking because he got dropped all together out of the squad.

Fergie has not commented - he could of just been ill or had a knock from the everton game or training.

People are putting 2/2 together.

I dont really see the problem anyway, this will be nanis main contract, he wants a good deal that he deserves.

It's a sign of the times and a shame.

Being given a kick up the ass by being dropped after a poor performance is as old as the goal posts in football, nowadays it is read as "obviously leaving the club".

A point well worth mentioning. Its rare you see that headline in terms of established stars anymore, generally only with younger players but as you said it clearly happens to all of them...

Selling Nani makes no sense whatsoever, other than balancing the books. That's the end of the debate.

Agreed. In my opinion he is much better on the left wing compared to Ashely Young who I feel cannot take on defenders from the half way line and dribble right to the corner post before whacking in a decent cross.

How many assists did Nani contribute last season?

Seven hours until the rumours can be laughed off then.

Watching the uncut press conference, someone finally asked about Nani not being in the squad - Sir Alex just looked a bit fed-up and replied he'd be in the squad on Sunday before someone else asked about Rio.

Nothing to read into of course I'm sure :nervous:

Well he's still here so the club must be confident they can get him to sign a new deal

Hopefully he has had the kick up the ass he has needed now to kick start his career here and find a little consistency and make a huge impact this season here.

The only thing I read into this is that SAF is doing a  at the media bollocks.

There are a lot of people who should be ashamed of some of their posts in this thread over the last few days.

I hope Nani rips Southampton a new one on Sunday...

Fergie sounded like he was considering topping himself when I was listening to him on BBC GMR yesterday. Sounded really fecked off and down, which isn't unlike him at a press conference to be fair.

feck me, his career doesn't need "kick starting", he's been one of our best performers for a few years now.

Probably wanted to get a midfielder

He needs an kick starting, he's been in average since this year has started. I love to see him play, and hopefully he does enough to convince Fergie to give him a new contract.

He's a good player, fantastic player at times but massively overrated by some on here.

He was injured on/off for like 3 months. He was good at the euros, and in pre season. He will pick up soon enough and silence the doubters.

He was injured for just one fecking month in this year. Stop changing facts. He played the match against Athletico on 8th March, got injured and then played against Wigan on 11th April.

I said he was injured on/off for 3 months. He played 6 times in 3 months, he was injured after the Arsenal game on 22nd of January. Calm down

He was also injured in January, KM.

Look at his appearances. Didn't play between 22nd January and 16th February. The last injury of the three was a minor one as he played against City 3 days later.

Yeah sorry for the aggression in the previous post. Still doesn't change the fact that he was pretty average in the last 6 months or so.

Fair enough.

I wouldn't call any of his performances in the Euros or pre-season particulary outstanding. He's also the first United player in a while that has been labelled as a martyr regarding new contract negotiations, for some reason.

He was still very good last season but it was a dip in form compared to 10/11. I mean most people hope and believe that he can become a more talismanic force in the team, he certainly has the talent for that, but some people seem to think he already is that player though bizarrely, which he isn't.

He may well have just got a knock and is for but we don't want to take the risk starting him. That's what I'm hoping anyway.

Its actually quite weird that I hope he has a knock cos this is making no sense
