I'm actually really looking forward to him featuring tonight. Given the woeful state of our wing play this season, if he could get anywhere near his best it would be (and usually I despise this phrase) like a new signing.

I guess most of us are frustrated with Nani, because the guy has abundant talent and skill, and has yet to exhibit these on a regular basis (he did have a decent run a couple of years ago).
By contrast, I don't have the same expectations of Young and Valencia, whose respective skills are significantly inferior to those of Nani.
So, for starters, I would like to see Nani rip West Ham to shreds tonight if he plays, and then hopefully he can excel for the remainder of the season.

I am really looking forward to see Nani play again, obviously he will need quite a few games to get up to speed but it should be refreshing.

I can't recall how Nani has performed in the past after an injury. Some players just get into it straight away, but the likes of Rooney take a few games to get going again.

I'd like to see Nani AND Rooney start the game tonight.

Last one that I can recall that he was out this long was almost identical time frame. Early November to Mid-Late January. That was when there was intense speculation about him leaving in January window and on here, many were okay with it because well we had Obertan - who had in the Wolfsburg game shown a bit of wow factor.

That was when he turned it around in many people's eyes and it was against Hull that he took it to the next level - the level we expect of him now. Personally I believed he had turned it around before being out because in that same Wolfsburg game, he showed a lot of maturity that was lacking before, a game where it was important we kept possession but, prior to it he would often chose the wrong option.

Something else I thought at the time is perhaps sitting on the sidelines helped him because we had Valencia who wasn't quite the beast yet, was showing how important is to retain possession and also pick your head up before cross.

Maybe this time on the sidelines he'll have learned something else from Valencia, that to stop being so careful and that the team needs someone to really provide a threat from out wide. Lets just hope that's the case.

I wouldn't hold your breath for Valencia. He's showing no signs as of yet.

His attempts at running at players against Liverpool was somewhat closer to to the real Valencia than his previous performances. Not a great cameo but certainly one or two positive signs we're all desperate for.

If we continue to use him sporadically then he'll continue his poor form, he needs a run of games to get back to his best.

Decent 45 minutes there. So amazing to see one of our wingers taking a man on.

The bit of play near the end of the half was great. If Anderson was up to speed it would have led to a goal.

Would've scored had it not been for an amazing clearance. Apart from that he's been ok. Playing after 15 matches and it's showing.

Very, very rusty so far. Glad to have him back but I can't see much in today's performance to really applaud.

I think he's actually been the best of the players malin heir comebacks but there is no way we've missed him more than people here think. The cock sucking of the man in here has been nauseating. Talk about nausea, Adrian Chiles has made a shit joke about double maths. Keane should deck the cnut.

If he scored that goal, we would have! It was great strike. I missed his goal threat and the fact that he likes to take on players!

Angry man post :)

Considering he's been out for a couple of months he's been quite decent.

At times looked rusty but that is expected but what is evident he has the ability to take on fullbacks with pure skill and dribbling ability.

Eh?

He's done more in this 45 minutes then Valencia's managed all season.

He's looked the sharpest of all the injured returnees for me.

I was encouraged. He was clearly rusty after such a long absence. But those little bits of quality will be just what we need on the wings. His close passing in the box is quite underrated. When we get him linking with our other attackers you can see what the possibilities can be. It's nice to have Nani back and we're definitely gonna need his unpredictable streak of brilliance in the big games ahead.

Good performance by him. Not stellar but good. He should start next game with Kagawa in the other wing. Valencia should go to Dubai to relax.

Decent performance from what I saw. As good as he was, you could tell he's definitely not up to speed just yet. Had a chance to release Hernandez for a 1-on-1 situation but hesitated instead. Nonetheless, I'm glad to have him back and I wouldn't mind seeing him start on Sunday.

Most pleasing thing about his performance tonight was the way he drifted inside, looked for quick one-twos and balls around the corner. With him getting game time, I think he'll really relish playing with Kagawa, Robin and Cleverley.

Don't quite think he's ready for a start away to Spurs IMO, he's not up to speed like you say. Did he beat the RB more than once today?

I think Giggs and Kagawa on the wing if the wizard can manage it.
