Luka Modric / Signs for Real Madrid

It strikes me that you're just pissed off that all the stupid predictions about Modric's sale have proved empty. I can only suggest that next time you employ a few extra brain cells.

I would think most United fans welcome Modric has stayed rather than strengthen a title rival. I would think most of us here were just winding you about losing Modric. I certainly was on a WUM.

Disappearing act? The league season has 37 games to go sunshine

I must have posted on here at least 10 times since the Man. Utd game ... although I appreciate that this match was such a long time ago

Some of you muppets are so desperate to try and point score at every turn ... don't you ever find it embarassing?

I'd be pretty embarrassed with over 5000 posts on a Spurs forum tbh.

Especially if I went missing every time they beat us.

Calm down for heaven's sake. Are you really disputing that you have a tendency to go missing on here whenever things go tits up for Spurs?
Yep.

I have commented plenty of times on games that Spurs have lost, including most of the games against Man, Utd.

But if you're expecting an in-depth analysis from me on each occasion, then sadly you'll be disappointed.

To be fair to Glaston if I was a Spurs fan I'd not have much to discuss when they play against United. Easy pickings every year.

I'd be pretty embarrassed with over 5000 posts on a Spurs forum tbh....
Clearly you dislike the fact that a few non-United fans are given the scope to post on here.

Take it it to Mods ... I guess.

So you haven't predicted that Modric will be sold this summer?

Stupid not to have sold IMHO.

Alternatively, give the lad a pay rise and he'll kiss the badge again.

Whether he stays or goes we can be assured that there are some twists to come yet.

Besides, in January seven days from the closing of the window or even three, Chelsea were nowhere near to getting Torres and Liverpool were nowhere near willing to sell. It wasn't until the 31st itself that it became clear that it would likely happen.

You're braindead if you think I'd be happy if Modric moved to Chelsea tomorrow.
That's not the point .. and you know it.

You have chosen to take issue with me, in a Modric transfer thread, ostensibly because I had apparently not commented on the recent Spurs match with Man. Utd ... but more transparently because I have failed to laud praise on the "magnificent" Man. Utd and to lambast "shit" Spurs for losing the game.

Your attitude is all a bit pathetic tbh.

PS. In fact I did comment on the game in question, in another thread. But I wouldn't bother looking it up if I were you ... because what you'll find won't stroke your Man. Utd ego sufficiently.

... we can be assured that there are some twists to come yet ....
I see the vision of Chelski's key transfer ambitions slowly twisting in the wind ... as the tumbleweeds blow across the wastelands.

Still just short of a week left for Chelsea to come in with an irresistable offer, and with them having already spent £25 million or so on Mata and £18 million (?) on Lukaku, as well as the £70 million in January and the £13 million or so to get AVB from his contract, I dont think its so definite that Abramovich wont sanction a £40 million+ offer if need be.

Chelsea ponder final bid for midfielder Luka Modric
08:50 AM Aug 26, 2011
LONDON - Chelsea are considering a bid of £40 million (S$78.7 million) for Luka Modric to finally persuade Tottenham Hotspur to sell the midfielder.

Modric held a two-hour meeting yesterday with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and emphatically restated his desire not to play for the club again.

Although Levy again stressed he would not enter into negotiations over a sale, it is understood there may be a price that he would consider given Modric will not change his mind.

Chelsea have offered £22 million, then £27 million and - last Sunday - £30 million for Modric and a vastly improved final bid of £40?million might just be enough to persuade Spurs to sell.

It may well be that Levy hopes to receive other offers for Modric - there has been interest from Manchester United - although the Croatian has made it plain he would prefer to stay in London.

However Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp believes the Modric transfer issue was closed.

He insisted: "He'll be playing on Sunday for sure. We want him to stay and he will stay. I'm sure he'll be great again this year."

Chelsea will have to decide quickly whether to keep pushing for Modric or turn to their other candidate to fill the central midfield gap that Villa-Boas believes exists in his squad - another Porto player, Joao Moutinho. THE DAILY TELEGRAPH

If you want to understand one of the many reasons Harry Redknapp infuriates us at F365, consider the following.

In his press conference for TV and radio on Friday, Redknapp was absolutely clear and certain that Luka Modric was not for sale. He would be staying at Tottenham. Absolutely. Check here.

However, as those of you au fait with how these things work will know, managers later give a briefing to the written press, and in that Redknapp said the following, as quoted by The Times:

"If they really want to go, it's hard to stop them going. Let's hope that we've seen the end of the Luka situation.

"Until the deadline comes and goes, who knows, but we want to keep him and I want to play him on Sunday. He needs to play on Sunday for sure."

'Arry, eh?

Chelsea offer £40m for Luka Modric while Craig Bellamy says 'yes' to Tottenham | Mail Online

Roman Abramovich has launched one last £40million bid to prise Luka Modric from Tottenham and add more guile to Chelsea's stuttering midfield.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has rejected offers of £22m and £27m but Chelsea's Russian owner is determined to test the north London club's resolve to the limit before Wednesday night's closure of the transfer window.

Tottenham are planning a busy week themselves by signing Wales striker Craig Bellamy, 32, from Manchester City, who they play on Sunday at White Hart Lane. Having already taken City striker Emmanuel Adebayor on loan, Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is also expected to bring in midfield reinforcements in the shape of West Ham's Scott Parker and Lassana Diarra of Real Madrid.

Leaving Spurs are Peter Crouch and Wilson Palacios (both to Stoke) plus defender Alan Hutton (Aston Villa).

Levy is determined to dig his heels in over Modric, 25, offering him a pay increase to £85,000 per week in an attempt to keep the player for another season. It represents a rise of £20,000 per week on the six-year deal that the Croat signed last summer.

Abramovich made Modric one of his top targets and the player publicly pushed for a lucrative move to Stamford Bridge and the chance to play Champions League football.

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas saw his side labour for long spells in a 3-1 home win against Norwich on Saturday. When questioned about Modric later, he said: 'If it happens, it happens.'

Should Abramovich be rebuffed again, he could even make a move for Inter Milan's Wesley Sneijder, a long-term Manchester United target. Inter want Chelsea winger Florent Malouda plus £27.5m.

but everyone was convinced he was he was on 40k/week :/

anyway. Chelsea have already spent ~150m since Jan. 40m more would be hilarious

they are about to sign parker and diarra supposedly but neither are an upgrade to modric though.

Whose fault is it that they have not signed anyone over the last couple of months? It also looks like VDV is out for several weeks due to a hamstring tear.

To be honest Redknapp wants to stop being a media whore. These things should be kept in house.

If they can get £40m for him, they should sell. With what Redknapp said about him asking not to play it looks as if his heart isn't in it. Probably time to move on.

40m for Modric is a massive waste of money. He's worth 25m tops. Granted when Chelsea, City, Barca ad Real are destroying the transfer market that's probably what it takes to get him. Assuming one of those clubs does bid.

That or the fact he looks like Droopy in a suit.

 Great spot.

He should have been moved on weeks ago.

Harry Redknapp tells Sky Sports News he is 'one million per cent' certain Luka Modric will not make a Deadline Day move away from White Hart Lane.
