Luka Modric / Signs for Real Madrid

Modric would be a huge success at utd; he's absolutely perfect for us. I'll be genuinely gutted when he inevitably goes to Chelsea.

That would be Mata, Modric and Lakuku in one transfer window.

If Torres hits his stride then him and the first two above could mean their first team being more improved than ours over the course of the summer.

With Modric and Mata, Chelski would look extremely strong and will right up there for the CL...

Imagine if they get Essien, Torres, Lampard etc on form too! :o

I am certain Modric is going to leave. Always have been. Let's see...

@Glaston - Don't you think that, overall, Spurs will be stronger if they get Diarra, Adebayor and one or two others with Modric going? I do.

The answer is that we don't need to sell Modric in order to bring in "Diarra, Adebayor and one or two others" .... there is zero connection between the the two things.

What will make us stronger is to keep Modric and bring in the other players.

Happy delusional days!!

You don;t need to sell to be able to afford the players, you just need to sell to make space for players.

Haven't you heard? They'll easily raise £40 million in selling fringe players, seemingly regardless of whether anyone wants them or not. How much is the ticker at now Glaston?

Yeah right, they are going to make £40m selling fringe players. Levy and 'Arry in Wonderland. 'Arry plays to much fantasy stuff. During interviews he gets confused as to which team he is referring to. He needs to get back to reality.

No they will, Glaston told us they will.

How does the Mata signing affect Modric? I haven't followed this thread for weeks, so is it a given he'll either be at Spurs or Chelsea, or is there a chance we can make a play to get him still? He's still my preference among himself, Sneijder, and Nasri.

It doesnt. Like signing Ashley Young didnt have an effect on our business, if any, in CM

According to Redknapp (according to John Cross of the Mirror), Modric won't be playing tomorrow as "his head's been turned".

That was what happened with Berbatov, wasn't it? They left him out and he was off a week or so later?

He also said he hopes that Chelsea signing Mata means it ends their interest in Mod.

Mata and Modric will make Chelsea a worrying proposition all over again. We really may have a 3 horse race this season

Redknapp says the deal to CFC should be off and then his head's been turned and won't play? So which one is it?

What I actually said was 30 - 40m - and the word was "could", not necessarily "will".

So far the total is 8.5m, so around a further 21m would see 30m as the total. Palacios for say 8m, Dos Santos for 5m, Hutton for 5m would leave it only 3m short. Then there's Bentley and possibly Crouch.

Spurs often leave it late-ish in the window before sealing deals and there's another 10 days to go.

All in all, my original statement is not especially far-fetched ... so you might want to wait for the window to close before jumping in with sneering posts.

But I want Modric and I want him now!

Luka looks better with short hair.

Seems when and not if I reckon...

Gutted if he ends up going there to be honest, with him and Mata they'd surely be right up there again...

Those recent comments from SAF about Harry needing to sell Modric to fund signings seemed a bit odd...if we ourselves aren't interested in buying LM.

Did they buy Mata because Spurs keep rejecting their offer for Modric or are they pushing for the Modric deal to go through as well?

Best case scenario is that turd Levy sticks to his word, Modric refuses to play, and he's left to rot in the reserves for the season.

They don't need to sell him because he just signed a four to five year contract with them. But they should not let it run like the Fabregas saga because they might not get £30-35m for him two years from now.

Best case scenario is Tottenham refusing to sell to Chelsea, Modric having a change of heart and deciding he'd rather move north and eventually joining us for £28million and Diouf.
