Luka Modric / Signs for Real Madrid

I wouldn't mind us making a move for him. More suited to us than Sneijder I feel, and probably cheaper too (at least in wages).

Who knows, Spurs may prefer selling to us than a London rival.

SAF will be oiling the wheels of his Snatchmobile. :D

Erm, Glaston..... you did say I had a shallow grasp of the situation. We will see! ;)

If we expressed an interest I'd bet Inter would soften their stance on sneijder if nothing else

I like Modric but he's not in the same class as sneijder (yet?)

I hope Chelski get him. They'll be right in the race for the PL and CL and it will make for a more exciting league.

(as long as we get Sneijder that is!!)

I find it hilarious that what I have been saying for weeks, that Tottenham need to sell to revitalise their squad which Glaston has derided, has been confirmed by Redknapp.

Nah, to help soothe Modric's ruffled feathers (ready for the window closing) it's just Harry playing the good cop/bad cop routine in tandem with Levy: "that nasty Levy won't sell you Luka, but I'm sympathetic to the idea".

As for squad revitalisation, Adebayor's arrival seems to be imminent, Walker has returned from his loan spell at QPR/Villa and with Friedel we've bought in extra GK competition .... so that'll do to be going on with. There are still 2 weeks still left in the window and more incomings will arrive.

Isn't your team one of the worst when it comes to the 25 man squad limit? You'll need to do more selling before you can fit in more players, unlss you can afford to keep them on the payload and not play them.

This is true, apart from Keane out and Adebayor in.

Edit: ... and probably Palacios out and L. Diarra in.

Redknapp, quoted in a series of national newspapers, said: "We've got two options with Luka. Either we keep a fantastic player or we sell him get the money and bring in four players and have a better team. I want him to stay but if he's going I want the opportunity to get other players in."

Surely he means a better squad.

It's looking increasingly likely he'll go now.

Is he fit just now? Surely if he misses the game tonight then that's a clear message Spurs will be selling him.

I'm going tonight btw :D
He has a groin problem according to the Spurs OS, tho' no doubt the conspiracy theorists will cry foul.

In any case, even if he was fit Harry would likely wish to save him for league matches.

Hope the match tonight is a good 'un for you to watch.

The likes of Bale, Sandro and Dos Santos needs to be added in to the 25 man squad if I'm not wrong, it's going to be really fun watching who Redknapp leave out if he doesn't move them on.

Ballague has just Twittered that a top source has told him Modric is off

Where do I pay you the £50 then

But I want Modric and I want him now!

Sneijder is a better player, but I think Modric would do better for us.

Ferguson said: "Tottenham have said they're never going to sell him. That's what Daniel Levy has said.

"But then you've a feeling if someone comes in with the right offer he will be sold, and that's difficult for Harry, to work out Daniel Levy's thinking.

"I know Harry wants to bring in a couple of players, no doubt about that, because what he has achieved the last couple of seasons has been brilliant. So it has been difficult for Harry getting through the summer not quite sure what's going to happen.

"It could yet happen before the window closes he gets two or three players in, and I think he's hoping for that. I listened to him on the radio saying he could get four players in for the money. That's what he is thinking.

"In other words, giving him a bigger squad to compete in all the tournaments Spurs are in, and to challenge for the Premier League. So he was looking at improving his options."

Cheeky bid etc.?

the snatchmobile has just lit up the burners for a major thrust.
