Manchester City 17/18 discussion | "If you're here for the Champions clap your hands" (#6505)

In reality I think its more him saying "if they had to deal with what we had" the playing field would be much more level, just badly worded.
They have had injuries though: Aguero, Mendy, Stones, Otamendi, Kompany, Sane (illness). They just have a much better squad than us rich in quality.

A professional wishing injuries on others as his team can't match their level is disgraceful.

There's just a nasty mentality around the club at the moment. With this, jumping on every little thing pep does and acting as if the whole of english football is against us.

Don't think he expressed it how he meant it but still a very stupid thing to say to the media and the statement will be used as a weapon for a long time.

Are you sure you are a United fan? We jump on Klopp and Pep because they get away with things Mourinho instantly would be banned for. Mourinho got banned for kicking a water bottle ffs.

You can't use his English or poor choice of words, he clearly says he knows this is wrong to say, but still says it ffs

I hope it's the case but let's not pretend that Pogba doesn't know how to communicate in English. He did say that it's not a good thing to say afterall implying that he knew what he was saying. The reality is that City has also had injuries to important players.

I just don't think it's a good way of representing yourself as a professional sportsman.

Knowing the media, you can be sure that they will pick up on this and blow it up. We just don't need this kind of attention from them.

You can be a united fan and still be critical of the club and the fanbase.

I don't blindly support stuff if I'm in disagreement of it. Nor do I blindly shout bias or follow some bollocks propaganda.

Exactly.

He obviously means the possibility of injuries, amongst other things, could give your uncatchable looking team vulnerability. Poor choice of words but dont make him out to praying all the city players get kneecapped.

I didn't, I was just winding you. Read my other post. I'm actually defending him while United fans are bashing him.

I wish I could say this board's full of city fans winding us up, but it's not. It's just full of pathetic pep fanboys.

I argue that with tons on here as I'm a City fan, and while Pogba's wording is poor, I don't think he's saying lets hope Kun breaks a leg or something. We have though had our fair share of injuries.
In fairness like the Guardiola incident the last day, PP is more stupid than malicious here imho.

I agree on your last sentence, the vibe in the Caf has changed this season, among United fans there's 3 groups now. Pro-Pep is God people, anti-City (berties, cuntiola etc...) fools who can give no credit at all and thankfully a few rational guys hanging around too.

As the post above you showss, this place has a fair share of childish people who can only see things in extremes.

Being critical of a player's comments and a fanbase makes be a pep-fanboy apparently.

I do hope it's lost from translation, but from his wording I don't think it is.

I prefer to give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe its just me. I think we've all said about Chelsea last season "to have any chance of winning we need Hazard to be out for a month" etc.. as opposed to "i hope hazard gets injured for a month." Pogba's english is good and I don't think its that kind of issue just ill thought through rambling.

Great City will play United without United's best player as well now. As if you guys weren't talented enough. Luck just keeps going your way.

Never give up but you have to say it's looking like it's theirs now. They've had luck go their way in the 2 title seasons. The luck they've had this year has been unprecedented though. This is 4 out of 4 games against the other top 6 where they've been fortunate to face teams without there best players. Don't remember anything like this happening before.

Bollox,

Against Liverpool we were leading and then lost our goalkeeper and had to put bravo in, not the fault of city pool had a player sent off

Against Chelsea we were missing aguero who had broken his ribs in a car crash, got on with it, didn't whinge and won the game and when was Morata better than Hazard? we were also missing Kompany and Mendy

Who were arsenal missing? Sanchez? Ozil? Cech? Nope they all played the full game whilst we were still missing Kompany and Mendy

So Pogba is missing the next game for being brainless how is that city's problem? How does that make them lucky? We're already missing Stones and Mendy and could be missing more after the next two games

Well we are missing our first choice centrehalf pairing as well?
The majority of the spine of our side won't be available for the derby

Who said it was City's fault. I was just commenting that you have been extremely lucky. As with us against Spurs. We were extremely lucky that Kane didn't play.

If you had the option to play Bravo but on the other hand play Liverpool with 10 men & without Mane you'd take it before a ball was kicked.

Chelsea lost Morata & Hazard was nowhere near the player he's been the last few weeks. This was due to him just coming back from the bad injury. As for you, Aguero & Kompany wouldn't have played if fit anyway. Mendy was a loss but in no way comparable to Chelsea missing Morata & Hazard.

Arsenal left a £50M striker on the bench for the majority of the game with you. We saw what a difference he made when he came on. Who knows what he'd have done if he had started.

We have just got our most influential player back from long term injury. We will now lose him from the most important game of the season. You would definitely take going into the Derby without Stones & Mendy if it meant we were without Pogba.

Not on the Wum, just stating you've been lucky. Would kill for Utd to have had half as much luck as you this season as things would be much closer.

They've been clearly a dominant side in all their league matches, of course they deserve to be where they are. Simply looking at stats, there wasn't a single game where they didn't create more than the opposition.

Bit of a silly comment considering we’ve just beaten arsenal. Pogba will be missed but we did beat spurs without him.

City have been lucky with injury time winners, early red cards (Liverpool) and the Morata injury when no other striker came on. But it’s not over yet!

You don't know the meaning of the word lucky

Not in a million years!

As fantastic as we have been all season, I am convinced that United will inflict our first defeat of the season, if we had Stones and Mendy available I would be confident of a victory with or without Pogba.

Wow this place really is getting kinda sad now. We've been feck all luckier than anyone else. I think you'll find bar the Sterling Huddersfield goal, all the rest were well played and good goals.
Wanna talk about lucky goals try watching United's v Benfica in the CL. Ashley Young v Brighton etc..

City aren't lucky Pogba is suspended given how he defended today, luck was nothing to do with it. Idiocy by a United player is why said United player is suspended ffs.

Hahaha yeah it's dead lucky that pogba is a cockwomble
You really think that was sending off? Where else was his foot meant to go? It looked bad at first but watch it more closely. Pogba tried to flick the ball over him he never meant to stamp on him.

Lucky? I don't think so. No one called the last 2 seasons refereeing decisions unlucky, City have had a run of shockers which I won't detail as I'm not trying to garner sympathy here. Honestly I came to dread games against the top 6 especially. This season it's been a mixed bag, Ake should've walked for Bournemouth & Walker's red vs Everton was ridiculously soft. On the other hand Kompany should probably have gone vs Leicester and a fortunate offside decision vs Arsenal.

Last minute winners aren't lucky though, how can a goal be lucky just because it's scored late? It's the same as scoring in any other minute. The Mane sending off isn't lucky either, he did something stupid and got punished for it, that's football.

English is not my first language so you can correct me on this. Lucky is defined in the Cambridge Dictionary as:
"We use the noun luck and the adjective lucky to talk about good things happening by chance, and not because of our own efforts"
By that definition all below should be considered lucky:
Pogba not playing against you. Morata getting injured. Hazard not being up to fitness. Mane getting a red card while not anticipating Ederson's postion. Kane not playing against us.
Last minute winners aren't luck and you will find most people on here acknowledge that.

Give your head a wobble. In addition to the myriad of examples above. Scoring a winner in the 97th minute against Bournemouth when there was only 5 minutes of injury time is also lucky.

You sound like a sly citeh WUM.

Your name begins with 'Pep'... you're lucky I'm not a mod!

I'll post this here, but what do you think Pep will have made of Utd's performance defensively today? He must be licking his lips, specially now Pogba is also out. Sanchez had an average game but the position he took up just in front of the 3 defenders will have Silva or KdB interested. So much space.

What space? Everything through the middle was being smothered, the hectic parts of the match came when they played it in from wide.

Still the best defence in the league (having played a game more than City).

With two first choice CBs out injured.

I doubt Pogba meant it like that. Just worded horribly either way who cares.

Also ain't that guy who called Pogba a bellend the one who runs that City fan channel and went full fanboy over Pogba for about three years only for him to re-join us.
The bellend broadcasting corporation?
