Manchester City 17/18 discussion | "If you're here for the Champions clap your hands" (#6505)

Yes that’s an actual fact.

Glad to see you’ve worked out which of fiction and fact, to type.

I think it’s a huge 1 more shot than United had on target against Southampton yesterday, so I’m unsure what point scoring exercise you’re trying to achieve?
Er I assumed that FCPep was right when saying that they had no shot in target. This is the City thread so maybe you should stop point scoring.

The sarcasm spouted in this thread
Wait, City wasn't brilliant today?

Why are you so worked up here. I mean the minute someone says something which isn't in the sense of City being brilliant and fantastic you are right there to jump on it.

Pretty much it requires a side to go on a run like theirs and nobodies going to do that. 5 point leads are pretty big,15 no chance. People underestimate the value of even small points leads sometimes. It's why I'm still annoyed at us dropping points at home to Everton and WBA in consecutive games.

I’m in the same boat as you – sickened by dropped points against dross like Stoke, Huddersfield, Leicester, Burnley and Southampton.

The pack behind City will all continue to drop stupid points this season, so the title race is absolutely over.

Very, very poor today. Our injury list finally caught up to us, and annoyingly got worse.

The title race was over a month ago. There was no 'race' to speak of this season, due to City's form.

Apparently not.

Candles have been placed on kerbs around the housing estate of the former stadium Maine road, in exhultation to the footballing gods to return to the golden days of autumn 2017.

I'm unsure of exactly what you're so upset by or what your aim currently is to be honest.

At which point should I start to laugh?
I mean it was some kind of a joke, right?

And many houses in Moss Side are now without heating and lighting as a consequence. Bad times.

If we’d beaten them at OT the gap would have been five points. We put in an insipid and spineless display...

That game and these three draws. How gutless can our players be? Honestly sickening.

Yeah.

Starting too look very light at the front (but have been imo for years), when an injury occurs to a forward.

Stones being back is good. And clearly (or maybe just because of injuries - like lvg 3 years ago), pep is happy to push youth onto the subs bench.
Mendy longterm out. Kompany continuing his hokeycokey appearances.

Sane appears to need a bit of a rest.

With KDB being hacked to pieces and D. Silva possibly not playing, the main engine room is running on the B team.
Foden out.

Delph rested, I think.

So, 48hrs till next game... lots of ice on KDB, Sanchez in, and maybe another defender?

Not like it will make a big difference in performances for you guys though, I mean, Aguero and Bernardo Silva can play. I actually think City would play even better if instead of playing with two wingers in Sterling and Sane, Pep put Bernardo alongside David and KDB, in a few years time Bernardo will be City's main man.

:lol::lol::lol:

Omg panic! You just drew a game. Bald Pep needs another £50m attacker and another £50m defender. Quick!

Pathetic club

How old are you 12? Isn’t Mourinho consistently going on about spending more money?

Anyway moving back to today’s game, we looked below the pace of the game. Sane needs a rest and Danilo isn’t a left back that’s for sure.

Upon whom? I'm not mad on Ozil, and he's the name being linked. He's just like Mata.

Ozil and José work well together, and he's a top level 10, we'd be lucky to have him here.

But that's just my opinion, fair play you think otherwise.

The point is that the board need to spend, and anything that makes that more likely is good.

What we need more than a signing is a change of mentality and a more attacking approach, especially at home. Ozil is a top player, but he's another who plays at a slow tempo. I think Alexis would be perfect for us actually.

The comment about needing another attacker and defender in January was more childish.

Yes Jose made the comment that City are spending more and if you bought an attacker and defender in January, that would prove his point even more.

Uh no panic, just factual response to the self sustained and targeted injuries.

So, Just a consequence of:

1. being light in the forwards area, when a single injury occurs (and have been since before aguero even joined).

2. Having the 2 midfield players of the season potentially missing from injury/personal reasons, with the player of the youth world cup also injured - but at least plenty of
others including other youths - see bench (unlike 1. and too a lesser extent 3.)

3. Having replaced the entire aging defence in the summer, with Mendy out, Stones just back, Kompany doing the Hokeykokey, Delph out of position, mangala ... being mangala, and youth not quite at the same level as Foden/Diaz, I’d say it’s reasonable to think about looking for another defender (longterm).

I totally disagree with your use of the word ‘pathetic’.

Pathetic is when a manager throws their own players under a bus repeatedly and viciously, having bought some of them, and not nurtured them.
Pathetic is when a manager talks about others diving, without a hint of irony.
Pathetic is when a manager blames everything and everyone but himself.
Pathetic is when a manager cannot unsarcastically compliment an opponents or a referees display.
Pathetic is when a manager who outlays £300m in 2 years adding to the most expensive squad in the PL, parks the bus so often, even against teams worth just a 10th of that outlay, that the home crowd (rightly) boos.

He's starting for Arsenal today. I don't know whether that's significant, but, if he was on the verge of joining City, surely he'd be out of the side?
I don't think the move was on, until now, so he wouldn't be on the verge just yet. If City lose two attacking players for long, however, they're likely to go for him. Given it's January, there wouldn't be any comparable alternative, I don't think.

I don't think it's a certainty he goes to City. You'd imagine Madrid and PSG will take a look at the situation, right ? But yeah, now Pep will become desperate
Can't see either of those having an interest in him now, to be honest.

What a shite team. Couldnt even beat Palace.

Cant even be bothered with the white text :(

What does proving his point even do? You don’t get a trophy for proving points. I would take winning the league next year if t meant spending 600 million in the summer. Football is about money now, might as well use as much as you like.
