Manchester City v Manchester United

Really looking forward to this now, I hope we shut them up - but they'll still finish fourth if they lose this anyway.

van der Sar
Neville Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Fletcher Carrick
Gibson
Valencia Rooney Nani

Kuszczak; Rafael, O'Shea; Scholes, Giggs; Park/Macheda, Berbatov

It's quite hard to pick a team for this one. Rafael may still be not in the right frame of mind, and I'd love to see a tussle between Neville and Bellamy, despite Bellamy having the pace to get by him. However, I can see Rafael not even making the bench if Ferdinand isn't fit. The defenders on the bench could be O'Shea and Evans, with Rafael left out, or if Ferdinand doesn't make it, Evans could start, with Rafael and O'Shea on the bench. O'Shea could also start at right back, with Neville and Evans on the bench, which is another option. Hargreaves is apparently in contention to make the bench, but when we have Scholes, Giggs, Macheda, and Berbatov all likely making the bench, it's hard to find room. Especially when we're potentially leaving out Park, which will be hard to do. I can see Gibson sitting it out completely, as well as Carrick... But I'd like to see Carrick and Fletcher in there, with either Gibson, Scholes, Giggs, or Park linking up with Rooney when possibly. I don't want to see Neville, Giggs, and Scholes all start together. I think we should go with Valencia and Nani, but I could see one of them being left out for Park in this game as well. Hope Rooney plays and scores, or that Berbatov pulls out an epic performance.

I think we'll do them 1-2. Fail to win this and the title is 100% going to Stamford Bridge, but this game isn't just about the title. Even if we do win it's 99% going there anyway.

The papers are going with the Tevez build up for the 4th time this season :boring:

City are in fine form going into this game. Eastlands isn't an easy place to go chasing 3 points.
If I was been honest with myself, I think we will get beat tomorrow. United have looked flat recently - Rooney starting is absolutely essential if we are to get anything from the game.
Bellamy on the left for City will cause Neville no end of pain should he start.

Expecting the following:

Rooney
Nani - Scholes - Valencia
Fletcher - Carrick
Evra - Ferdinand - Vidic - Rafael
VDS

i'd go with Rafa at right back but I think SAF might go with Nev
the rest of the team picks itself

a potentially huge game, i've litterally convinced myself spurs will beat chelsea. We must win this to stay in it.

reckon it'll be a bastard of a game too, plenty of goals, it'll will swing both ways, there'll be controversial decisions, sending offs, the whole lot. Im just praying we're the benefactors

Just great, Martin fecking Atkinson is the ref for this one, the worst ref in the league in my view and has constantly shit on us this season, will never forget how he 'reffed' us at stamford bridge....

Anyway i expect the team will be along these lines:

......................Van Der Sar

Rafael..........Vidic..........Evans.........Evra

................Fletcher.......Scholes

...........................Park
.Valencia.....................................Nani
.........................Rooney

From listening to fergie i doubt Rio will make the game if hes only been jogging at best this week, likewise Giggs, but think Rooney will be ok, expect Park to play.

Just for the record,

CITY ARE A MASSIVE CLUB

Is it because they have the Gallagher Brothers as celebrity fans? They have the widest pitch in the land? They have got the biggest bananas in the land? They won the Shamrock Cup in 92? They've got 3 stars on their new club badge? They go to Wrexham and Cardiff on Euro-aways? They took a quarter of a million to Ewood Park? They had Ryan Giggs on schoolboy forms? They empty Stockport when they play at home? They sing about Munich, coz they've got no class?

WHICH IS IT ???? :wenger::wenger::wenger:

 very good

think we raphael should start, he played well against bellamy before, neville will get skinned with pace imo.

we really need rooney up front but i have a feeling he wont be starting tomorrow...:

1-0 united.
still chasing chelsea in the league by 2.30pm tomorrow.

I have a feeling we're going to crush them tomorrow, and Spurs will manage to get something out of the Chelsea-match as well.

Hope Rafael starts tomorrow we really need him at his best to combat the Bellamy's pace, I'd like to see us start with something like this although I can see Fergie playing Gibson instead of Scholes

Van der Sar
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Fletcher Scholes Carrick
Valencia Rooney Nani

City incensed after referee Atkinson switched to Manchester derby

Manchester City are demanding an official explanation after the referee responsible for the infamous "Fergie Time" controversy was put in charge of tomorrow's Manchester derby.

Senior officials at Eastlands are so concerned about Martin Atkinson's appointment that, with Roberto Mancini's agreement, they were trying to contact the Premier League's head of referees, Mike Riley, tonight to express their concerns. The club will demand to know why another referee was not appointed.

Atkinson has been switched from Stoke's match against Bolton Wanderers despite being heavily criticised when the teams met at Old Trafford in September. He was the official who awarded four minutes of stoppage time but actually played seven, with Michael Owen scoring a 96th-minute winner for Sir Alex Ferguson's team.

tomorrow's match was due to be officiated by Steve Bennett but he has been on a Uefa course in Romania and contacted the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) this afternoon to inform them that he had not been able to fly back because of the Icelandic volcano eruption.

Mancini was not at the club at the time of the earlier game but his predecessor as manager, Mark Hughes, was so incensed by Atkinson's timekeeping that he requested an explanation from the Premier League, and the club was not satisfied with the response. Atkinson was absolved by Riley, and the PGMOL has taken the stance that it cannot be influenced by what it perceives to be unfair criticisms.

Atkinson will go into both dressing rooms before the match to remind the players to do nothing to incite the crowd in what Ferguson described as potentially the most important Manchester derby since he took control of United in 1986.

Well there certainly won't be much extra time if we're chasing a goal now.

Anyone who fails to perform at least one of the following:

a. Score
b. Assist
c. Put a shot on or off target
d. Attempt a shot even when wide open
e. Shoot
f. Did I mention 'Shoot?'

...gets sold.

I'm not kidding. (Although I'm also not in charge) Just please stop playing like Arsenal.

Bye VDS :(

Rooney returns, Hargreaves in squad

Wayne Rooney is set to return for United in Saturday's Manchester derby against City, while Owen Hargreaves is also in the squad.

Rooney is likely to come in after missing the draw the draw at Blackburn with an ankle injury but has been training and is rated as more likely than Rio Ferdinand (groin) and Ryan Giggs (hamstring) to be involved.

John O'Shea is also fit, whilst Hargreaves is in Sir Alex Ferguson's squad for the first time since September 2008.

What are the chances for Hargreaves to start? Or come on as a sub maybe. Well maybe after this one. It's been so long since we've seen him last, it feels like forever.

I thought Hargo made the bench against Chelsea? Rio being injured again is a blow, he just can't catch a break it seems.

Hate these 12.45 kick offs. The team always seem sluggish.Think I'll go for a draw.

Hargo made the squad v Chelsea, not the bench. I doubt he'll do anything more than make the squad here aswell.

I'm going to gamble here

Just picking the early risers.
