Manchester City vs. Manchester United - Premier League, 10/11/2010

Frustrating game, like a 12 round jabfest. They didn't come to play and we didn't really commit enough to win the game. I hated it.

I felt really nervous throughout. It just had a feeling they'd nick it. But more than that because I felt the game was there for the taking and we didn't really go for it enough.

Sir Alex Ferguson admitted to being slightly disappointed with a goalless draw in the derby against Manchester City at Eastlands.

Ferguson's United remained unbeaten in the Barclays Premier League after the stalemate but Ferguson believes they had enough of the ball to conquer a City side he felt did not have as many attacking ambitions as his own.

"City are very difficult to beat on their own ground and obviously they set their stall out," he told Sky Sports 1.

"I think there was too much tension for it to be kind of match people thought it would be. They set their stall out in the second half and made it very difficult for us.

"It's a decent result but we don't count draws away from home as the target before the game. Our target is to win the game and I think we had enough possession to do that.

"Some of our football was good, we were good on the ball but we needed to create openings to win the match and we only really made two which was difficult."

I guess City fans will be happy they didn't lose but that was shit on a stick football from City. Think the post match manager interviews sum it up, Mancini could hardly keep the smile off his face, Fergie was really disappointed we hadn't opened them up. Would have served City right if Carrick's deflected shot towards the end had found the corner of the net. Can't quite believe the number of times we broke out of defence to find six City players still in their own half! As someone posted above, I think if we hadn't had to sub both full backs it might have been different, Fergie would have been more likely to keep Berba on when he brought Hernandez on. Parky for all his hard work wasn't on song in the final third tonight.

Hopefully we'll rip their heads off at OT

Exactly how I saw it. We were good until through final third where we hsd no ideas and no cutting edge.

This is what separates United and Fergie from almost all other managers and teams.

Have you been hacked? Not like you to be such a WUM Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime.

We played against a £500m parked bus tonight.

I agree we didn't do enough to break them down, mostly due to lack of performances from Park and Nani, but against such cowardly tactics from such an expensive set-up, it was all a bit futile.

Excuse me, that was private banter between me and Sillyarse.

You didn't play against a parked bus either, that's an exaggeration. You dominated in the second half, but both teams are to blame for the dreadful match. Which would be fine, but a lot of you are claiming a small victory of being the most attacking team in a match of less than a handful of shots on target.

On another note, I do agree with those making the point that Gareth Barry was his usual, fat, pathetic self while Carrick was slick and composed in front of Capello but will still be overlooked.

I can understand your criticism if we were blunted by a lowly relegation team. But playing against a £500m parked bus, it's beyond difficult. Saying that, we were let down by our wings (Park in particular who kept breaking up promising moves), and our full-backs going off was shit, because you need attacking full-backs to get wide against a parked bus - not Brown and O'Shea. Also left us with less scope for tactical subs later on.

I await Newtonheathdaves thoughts on how Citys midfield 'overpowered' a slow weak lacking balls United one.......i said you'd be dissapointed if you were banking on outplaying us in there, we have a very good midfield that's criminally underrated, but in such games a Scholes-Carrick-Fletcher trio rarely lose the battle and today made mince-meat of Barry-De Jong-Toure, it was so one sided in there it was ridiculous really.

Shame we didn't have a fit and firing front line ahead of that midfield.

Unfortunately this game was custom-made for that Rooney chap.

Even Giggs would have made a great difference, Park is a good worker and can produce some good moments but today just wasn't at the races, had we had a Giggs or even a Valencia (another attacking player we were robbed of) i think that would have made the difference, we just lacked that incisive touch to create an opening in the final third, Giggsy is a master at that.

One things for sure, this is supposed to be the worst United team in years, without its best player and 1 man team, without 2 of our best wingers and against a City side who are apparently overtaking us having spent an arabs ransom and still we utterly dominate them on their own pitch.

The result was disappointing in the end but the performance for me really did put them in their place, we outclassed them today all over the pitch.

Have to say, we only put them in their place if we beat them, in my view.

They put themselves in their place tonight, with their cowardly small-time tactics at home, in their biggest game of the season.

It was hugely comfortable for United, but we should have taken advantage. Ah well, despite the pre-match noise, this game doesn't define our season. It might define City's though.

I have to agree with this.

I just think Park ran out of gas today. I mean even he will find playing 3 games in 8 days really strenuous. He played at Bursaspor then against Wolves and today against City. So I don't really blame him for his poor performance today.

Agreed, Giggs and Rooney in the team tonight would have given us the spark to turn the midfield dominance into chances. I thought Berbatov had a good game but did most of his work very deep so he didn't really trouble the CB's at all, where with Rooney he pressures them all game in the lone striker role.

That game was crying out for a fit Rooney ... He could have turned it.
We played ok but I was also disappointed at the attacking threat , or lack of, that we posed ..
Berba is lost on his own upfront ... Hurry back Rooney you pox
