Manchester City vs. Manchester United

I went to make a cup of tea and came back to a different lineup, what the feck.

From the line up it's clear to me SAF's gone with experienced heads and his main aim is seemingly to stifle City's play with that team. Nani, Giggs and Rooney for the counter with Park chipping in. I'm only concerned with Smalling as he's not played regularly recently and it's a big game. Hopefully the lad pulls through tonight. Stop being so negative chaps, we can do this!

I despair. when we get stuffed, Fergie has to answer for that shambles. We have not played well with park and giggs on the pitch for about 12 months, and Valencia has been our best weapon.

For the umpteenth time this season, Fergie has gotten it massive wrong. Is there some benefit to us losing only he can see?

Wanker. Utter wanker

holy crap balls!!!!!!!!!

City play through the middle. He wants to prevent that. Giggs on the left is not just he is a better crosser but should he get into the area and there is illegal contact, will not have the 'penalty claim' waived away.

Park will be fresh and will frustrate them.

Strange line up. Not sure what park jones and giggs have done lately to merit starts.
And park starting seriously? Ahead of valencia. Bloody hell.

Have i missed something?. Is the match over?.

City midfield is very strong

We need Nani to MJ today and give everyone an education

Jesus, some of you need to wise the feck up and have a little faith in a manager who's selected more big-match winning teams than you've had hot dinners. Some ridiculous comments in here.

Bit edgy about Jones at RB myself but hopefully he's been turning it on in training. Strange not playing Tony V but meh, in Fergie we trust.

the good thing is that every time he puts out a team that makes me really nervous - they tend to overperform. Let's hope for the same here - and Park is a big-match player

No Evans is a huge blow. Just our fecking luck.

On the positive side Nani vs Clichy has potential.

Teeby talks sense.

Take inspiration from us last week, 2-0 down and a man down at Barcelona yet we overcame them. At some point this match is going to open up, Man City have to make it so and therefore you should sit in your own half and let them exert effort trying to make openings using up their energy so when the game does open up you're ready for it.

Is Fergie just thinking Nani has been more effective against City than Valencia in recent games? I can completely understand him wanting the 4-5-1 with Park that we're used to from title deciders/European knock out ties - especially when a draw would be a good result - it's just that Valencia has been our main man the past few months... and offers back up to Jones on that right hand side.

Have to agree with Pogue on this one.

I think I might die.

For me the team selection looks as though we are aiming for a draw, or at least to keep it level for 65+mins.

Am stunned that Park is playing and that Valencia isn't. Attack truly is the best form of defense, and my concern is that we are not going to cause City enough problems or threats with this lineup. Am happy to be proved wrong, but looks to me like we will be inviting pressure.

well said....Fergie has definitely gone for a lot of experience here....to calm everything down at the start. He has his younger cavalry on the bench in a manner of speaking. I just think this match needs some experience level heads at the start

I nice to know the Caf know better than SAF when it comes to team selection.
