Manchester City vs. Manchester United

He can barely string 2 English words together. Can't see him saying that when Fergie said he was a couple of weeks away.

Rafael and Fabio follow a different Valencia instagram account - fake.

Are you at the wum? Feed me why would he take a narrow defeat right now? What a shit way of thinking. Feck me.

Not on a WUM in the slightest. Do you think SAF, the master of managing a side through a league season, would be massively gutted over, say, a 1-0 defeat?

That'd leave us level on points, and with two less goals in the GD column. With 22 games left to play, I'd venture that he'd be fairly satisfied with that, especially with our current injuries and defensive problems.

Lets get real. The notion that SAF/United always go for the win is a fallacy. We saw that with our pitiful set up and performance at the Etihad last season, when we actually needed a result.

I imagine that the day Fergie goes into a game with the mindset of being happy with a narrow defeat is the day he hangs up his gum.

I should have been clearer. What I meant was, if we end up getting turned over 1-0, he's not going to be overly glum - level on points, City with a marginally better GD, and them to visit OT in the second part of the season. We'd still be favourites.

4 defeats by mid December? Doubt he'd be overjoyed.

Why would you take any kind of defeat?

Undersstand you taking a draw but ok with an defeat? Wtf?

Anyways I want a win but am not expecting it. Fergie and his experience means we will see.

Lindegaard

Rafael
Rio
Evans
Evra

Welbeck/Young
Scholes
Carrick
Giggs

Rooney

Rvp

Examples of both sets of fans on the radio sayin they think their team will be getting beaten today. Dont often hear that.

I fear for today, but im still fairly hopeful. Its not the end of the world if we do lose though, which is nice.

I wouldn't be massively enamoured by a narrow loss, but in the context of the season, I won't be ready to top myself, and nor will SAF. The league is all about the long game.

I made the comment earlier. The two situations are completely different. We were a corner that was incorrectly awarded away from spawning a victory that would have sewn up the title.

Tactically this is a different kettle of fish. Plenty of room to make up points and I think the lure of the front foot boost will negate the worry over a back foot stumble.

Well losing both our midfielders just before the city game is really bad. I have a sneaky feeling that he will play.

I think you make a fair point - namely that because its relatively early in the season, SAF may go for it a little more.

I shudder at your first point though - yes, it was a narrow margin of defeat in April, but there was a chasm between the two sides in terms of approach and performance. It was sickening how negative we were.

Agreed, mindshatteringly deflating that we went into the game so negative. But feck me we were so close to spawning a 0-0 draw.

Especially after we stuffed them in the first half at the Etihad in the cup. I relate this game more to that one. I really hope we come out on the front foot and all guns blazing. Is there that much to lose in this fixture in terms of the title race right now?

Certainly not as much as there was at the back end of last season. :D

So...are any of the rumours true?
(I've heard that players like Kagawa, Cleverley, Vidič and Tony V might be back)

I don't want to see Scholes or Giggs anywhere in there. I'd rather we play two in front of defence - Carrick and Fletcher/Jones (I know some of you said Fletcher shouldn't play, so maybe Jones instead). The way we've been defending lately, I'd rather we have a bit of extra protection there.

---------Carrick-----Fletch/Jones-----
Welbeck-------Rooney----------Young
----------------RVP------------------

Welbeck on the right of Valencia isn't fit.

I can not imagine Valencia saying "Who is up for a surprise later?" It seems completely unlike the dour winger I have grown to love. He's definitely not one for surprises. He gets socks every year for his Christmas/Birthday and gets his wife and kids exactly what they ask for. He can't even smile FFS.

Now you have me dreaming of this team.

-----------------Da Gea-----------------
Rafael-------Vidic--------Evans-----Evra---
----------Carrick---Cleverly----------
Valencia--------Rooney--------------Nani
-----------------RVP----------------------

Think it will be

--------------DDG
Rafael---Rio--------Evans---Evra
------------Carrick
--------Giggs------Jones
-------------Rooney-----Young
--------------RVP

People are too preoccupied by the number of losses. It really doesn't matter all that much. If we win 30 games and lose 8 this season, we win the title. Probably.

You are correct - I remember when we went 20 or so matches without losing - or when de Gea went 10-11-12 games without us losing a goal. In the end it seemed more important to keep that record going than actually winning games. If you on average lose every 4 games in a season - you will probably win the league if you win the rest rather than draw them.

My team would be this

------------De Gea------------
Jones----Rio----Vidic-------Evra

----------Carrick--Fletch------
---------------Scholes-----------

Valencia--------------------Rooney

---------------RVP---------------------

Kagawa or Cleverley would we be extremely welcome at this point. I think we'll pack the midfield and go narrow so not sure if Tony V would start anyway. I hope we don't rush Vidic back unless he is 100%. It's far better to play the long game as the title will not be decided today.

I've just forked out £35 to subscribe to sky go, for the same reason.

It's the deal of the fecking century as far as I'm concerned.

That's what we should do.

What we probably will do is play 4-4-2 with Carrick and Scholes.

Given our midfield injuries I would usually be alot more pessimistic than I am about this game but now that we have RVP and Hernandez is back to his first season form we just have so much firepower.

We could score at any given moment no matter how the game is going. Last season at times you felt it was down to Rooney to produce something.

I agree, it always takes a few games to get rid of the rustiness, so vidic won't be at his sharpest anyway. Better to play someone else at this point, rather than rushing him back and risk losing him for another portion of the season.

Yes midfield as ever is the worry. How we set up in that regard could determine how well we do in this match. If we can seriously contend the central area, i fancy us to get some chances on the break!

I would be lying if i said i don't see that being true of City too though! :nervous: :D

Fergie packed the midfield last year didn't he? With the wrong players unfortunately. Was it Park, Giggs, Scholes, Carrick?
