It could easily be:
De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Jones Evra
Carrick Cleverley
Mata Fellaini Welbeck
Rooney
But I think / hope it will be:
De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Jones Evra
Cleverley Carrick Fellaini
Mata Rooney Welbeck

People get too hung up on this stuff. Both teams you lined out there are the same. 1 of those 3 midfielders will have instructions to get forward and support the striker. Rightly so too.

What did Scholesey say there "Man Utd for me without pace is nothing" or something similar. I think that's a far assessment. He went on to highlight the Olympiakos game when we had Tony and Welbeck as outlets. But it's mainly through the spine of our team that we lack that pace, at the back, severely in midfield, and at times, up front.

Cleverley will need to give a good performance tonight. I'm surprised he's not gone with Tony if he's fit enough for the bench.

You don't get it. There is no such thing as tactics and movement. It is all based off the formation and everyone stays in their area in that formation.

As ever, it's that midfield where there is a noticeable massive difference between us and them. The rest of the team there's not much to pick between the sides.

Let's be honest, Toure is going to destroy our midfield, extra man or not.

Would have much preferred kagawa instead of cleverly but I understand why Moyes went for that. It's pretty defensive but I can understand the circumstances.

I just saw the lineup, and it's interesting to see Moyes actually try and set up a 3-man midfield to match up against Man. City's 3-man midfield.

I would think that Moyes would go for Fletcher instead of Carrick/Cleverley, but I think Fletcher should be carefully managed after his 3 surgeries. Plus, our midfield actually looks pretty balanced. Carrick will sit deep as the anchor man. Fellaini will be the box-to-box midfielder. Cleverley will be the passer of the team who will maintain possession and link the midfield and attack (all of this is said in hope more so than expectation).

Our front 3 looks very nicely set up for the counter-attack and to keep possession/make something of it in the final third. Both Mata and Welbeck can keep the ball in tight spaces, and Welbeck will not leave Rooney isolated by playing as another forward, at times, leaving Rooney free to move around wherever he wants to rather than stay up to the defenders.

Defensively, I'm really concerned about Ferdinand, but as long as we don't play a high line or have a big gap between our midfield and defence, we should be fine.

My biggest concern in this match is that we could be pegged back into our final third for a long time and not be able to push up and put Man. City under pressure. These players will need to play with confidence and take Man. City on rather than continue to absorb the pressure and not take Man. City on.

Reckon Cleverley and Welbeck will have good games tonight.

Scholes telling the truth about Fellaini 'not been great...for the money you paid I'd been expecting a lot more'. Ouch.

Love Scholes' honesty. Tell it like it is.

Scholesly will probably regret not talking in cliches by the end of the night.

I think it's a pretty good lineup apart from Rio. What is wrong with Vidic though? Is he red carded or injuried?

The lineup will look like this on the pitch.
De Gea

Rafael, Ferdinand Jones Evra
Carrick
Fellaini Cleverley Welbeck

Mata Rooney

Dzeko
Nasri - Silva - Navas
Yaya Toure - Fernandinho
Clichy - Kompany - Demichelis - Zabaleta
Hart

Demichellis has been looking like pure diarrhea lately and I'm 100% Rooney and Mata will be good enough to take advantage of that. They often tend to attack on that left side. Clichy is going to leave a lot of space behind him; the same goes for Rafael, and both teams could take advantage of that. I believe Fellaini will seek to challange Clichy in the air. Cleverley, Carrick, Jones and Welbeck will be a Unit trying to break up play and set up fast counter attacks. I think the move with having Cleverley as the terrier on the pitch is the logical solution - what the outcome will be is a different story. My biggest concern is the left side where Zabaleta, Fernandino, Silva and Navas all will be operating close to Evra and most of our players have a tendency to not defend well enough in that area, perhaps the absent of left footed players. All In all I think we have a 35% chance of getting away with some points.

Now Scholes calling out Mata. Only caveat he says Mata's played out of position but he should be doing more.

Remember who you are, you arent no tin pot two bit shithouse fighting against a goliath, you are the goliath, you are United, you are the best, now stop acting like pussys and roar like Lions, destroy them, send those foul beasts into the abyss!

For feck sake Fellaini dont get sent off :(
