you are kidding right?

I'm getting really excited about this now. I'd love it if we give them a good kicking, love it!

We had more possession in the first leg at OT last season and in the league game at The Emirates. We had more possession in the league game at OT in 07-08 and I think in the FA Cup in 07-08

I seriously doubt United had more possession than arse in home game in 2007-8

The game with Hargreaves FK to win?

We didn't get arse raped by them that day, we scored first after Ronaldo had a penalty (taken twice IIRC), Adebayor equaliser and then Hargo.

Think Ronaldo did his sidewards dribble/stepover trick as well in the dying seconds, before getting cut down by Gallas.

Ah yes, that's right.

Arsenal were pretty dominant in teh first half and for parts of the second, United got lucky that day. After Ron got the peno, I think Anderson and Tevez came on and that helped sway the game in United's favor but on another day Arsenal could have won it.

Jacob's prediction

Line-up:

-------------------------Foster-----------------------
O'Shea----------Vidic-----------Brown---------Evra
Valencia-------Fletcher--------Carrick--------Nani
----------------Rooney----------Giggs--------------

Score: Manchester United 2 - 1 Arsenal

Goals: Rooney, Nani

Player to watch: Ben Foster

fabregas isnt the issue mate its your back 4 and almunia. Your midfield is still sumptious without him.

its the back 4 mateeee:lol:

I'm extremely comfortable with our back 4 ATM. Aluminia, not so much.

One of the best thing about having Cesc in the side (apart from his obvious talents) is that helps us control games and retain possession (something Diaby, his replacement, is not good at), and if we're controlling possession there will be much less pressure on our defenders. This becomes even more important with our high-line defence.

I expect our defenders to put in a good effort, you can't expect them to have flawless games but I highly doubt they'll have their pants pulled down. Moments of individual brilliance aside, this game should be won in the midfield.

How do you guys think O'Shea and to a lesser extent Valencia will hold Arshavin & Clichy?

I think we'll start with Bendtner (who covered a lot of ground last game and has been tracking back very well) as the 'wide-right,' who will help Sagna cover Evra & Nani, which means we'll probably attack down your right which is obviously your weaker side.

Would you be surprised to see Park starting out on the right? I wouldn't. But I suppose this is your home game and you guys will probably want to come out with the initiative.

Valencia's very good defensively, no worries there.

O'Shea vs Arshavin? On paper that sounds just brutal, but our Johnny has a strange way of coming out on top of these battles.

Has Arshavin started as brightly this season as he ended last?

He started about the same as he did last season (EDIT: misread the question, I mean he's started like how he started when we signed him) passing well, looking a class above everyone else though things haven't exactly clicked for him as yet. Fortunately he doesn't really need to be at the top of his game to have an impact, and I suspect this is mostly due to him adjusting to a new formation and having been given more defensive responsibilities.

To me it seems like he's about to explode.

;)

If he could hold in for another couple of days that would be just swell. Ta.

:)

Fabregas never does well against us anyway, doesn't really matter tbh.

You've got to be kidding mate. And surely you realise it's not just a matter of him 'not doing anything,' even if that was the case. Him being on the field means your players will be more wary (of him), which can release other players.

Just like Ronaldo used to do. He could have a shite game and contribute nothing, but that still doesn't mean the opposition were suddenly going to stop marking the farq out of him.

Sorry mate but that was a ridiculous comment.

Losing nasri a month ago was a bigger blow.

That was a damn shame, hopefully he got the most out of his restricted pre-season then.

And just quietly (really really quietly) - I head a whisper that Rosicky was back in full training and should make the side/bench on the weekend. Get the feck in.

Nasri is a class player, you do miss him.

As for Fabregas, I am glad he's out - he is a brilliant midfielder who can change a game with one pass.

Should be a good game lads.

We havent exactly missed him yet. If we start to lack a bit of creativity before he comes back then i will say we miss him.

Yes this is true. What I meant is that any side will always "miss" a player of Nasri's quality, despite if they're winning/losing/drawing. I'd love him at United, as I would Fabregas.

is anyone doubtful of fabregas's injury, i will believe he cant play when is see it.

Time will tell, I think Wenger will keep him out if he isnt near 100% considering how early this game is in the season though

Who would come in for Fabregas? Ramsey? Denilson?

Hopefully it'll be Ramsey. Fletcher or Anderson should be able to bully him out of the game, what with his ability to retain the ball being one of his weakpoints anyway. I'm expecting;

---------------Foster--------------

--O'Shea -- Vidic -- Evans -- Evra--

Valencia --- Fletcher --- Giggs --- Park-

------Owen/Berba----Rooney - ------

vs

------Arshavin -- Eduardo -- RvP ------

--------Diaby -- Ramsey -- Song---------

-Clichy -- Vermaelen -- Gallas -- Sagna-

----------------Almunia----------------

I hope we start well and go at them. I don't like how negative we can play when Park is on the left wing although he's good for tracking back and protecting Evra's runs.

Denilson will be Arsenal's first name in midfield.

Still, a Diaby - Song - Denilson midfield is not particularly worrying.

No doubt in my mind - 442, take the game to these cnuts.

I reckon the team would be:

Foster
Oshea Vidic Evans Evra
Anderson Fletcher Carrick
Valencia Rooney Nani

Gone for a midfield 3 and had to drop Berba so Rooney wouldnt be sent to the wing, could still have Berba for Anderson but i believe that midfield would work well against Asnl - Fletcher loves playing against them and the same goes for Anderson (even if his form is a bit worrying atm), the front men would work their back four and with 2 out and out wingers we would have good width with the midfield runners getting into good positions.

All in all i would like to see that team play but its more likely we see Berba for Anderson and Park for either Nani/Valencia
