Manchester United vs Arsenal

I think Arsenal will play something like this:

Almunia
Sagna Gallas Vermaelen Clichy
Song Denilson Diaby
Bendtner van Persie Arshavin
---
Subs: Mannone; Silvestre, Gibbs; Eboué, Ramsey, Rosický; Eduardo

However, with no Fábregas or Nasri, Arsene may decide that 442 could for once be a better option with Arsenal. We're bound to attack as much as possible with the game being at Old Trafford (not that we wouldn't at any other ground). However, there is another 433 option that could allow Arshavin to play where he wants to:

Almunia
Sagna Gallas Vermaelen Clichy
Song Arshavin Diaby
Bendtner Eduardo van Persie

But then again, Eboué could be played on the right, with Eduardo on the bench and Bendtner through the middle, with Diaby somtimes switching to left wing in more of a 442.

Either way, I'm not as worried about Arsenal without Fábregas, despite their good form. I think we'll win. I'm torn between which formation would be best for us though.. It's a tough one.

Arsenal were pretty dominant in teh first half and for parts of the second, United got lucky that day. After Ron got the peno, I think Anderson and Tevez came on and that helped sway the game in United's favor but on another day Arsenal could have won it.

The Arsenal goal was a hand ball. I think a draw was a fair result on the day(anyway United have been unlucky in several matches over the years not to beat Arsenal), Rooney could have scored 3. Going back to the possession stats, United had 53% and Arsenal 47%.

My first trip to old trafford- can't wait, I'm like. a child before christmas! Where's the best boozer!

The Trafford (Pub) which is just before you get to OT if you head down from the Metrolink is pretty good, as is the Bishops Blaize which is just across the road and to the left from there. Also the Legends chippie (just cross the road from The Trafford) is pretty good for food imo. Oh, and there's an offie between the Blaize and Legends, though the police usually stop you taking beer into the ground* (*usually okay if you hide it in your coat/jeans).

There's also the Quadrant which is about 5 minutes walk away if you cut through the cricket ground (there's a legit path to do so btw). I'm not sure of all the road names, but I usually go in the Blaize myself, and it's got cheap beer, and is always good for a singsong before the game.

I can't wait for this one, even if it'll be my third trip to a United vs. Arsenal in the last six months. I'm predicting 3-1 to us myself. :)

fecking so pumped up for this one lads COME ON UNITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My selfish brother is gettin married today - so I'm missing the match. Also have to wake up at 4:30 in the morning.

Thought I'd come on here and share my plight.

I'm missing the match as well, gotta fecking work :(

Oh well, it's more important that the lads get the three points !

Tonights line-up is really hard to predict. I can't decide whether I want Giggs over Carrick in CM or both in a 3-man-midfield with Fletcher. Then you have to pluck either Nani (good form) or Valencia (efficiency) away.

Fletcher+Carrick+Scholes is my bet, but hey.. I've predicted 3 completely diffrent midfields in 3 different threads.

Tollgate.

I hate being underage, I'm always around Legends/Lou Macari's chippy, with my dad getting me some strongbow and then opposite the trafford drinking them.

Aye, I remember the same thing going to games at your age Boothy.

Absolutely buzzing for this now, despite the fact I will have been to three United vs. Arsenal in the last six months. A fixture I never get tired of. Anyone know if Fabregas is still supposed to be injured for this; as he was 'doubtful' a few days ago. Might make a miraculous recovery anyways. :smirk:

Best be fecking out, just got rid of him on my fantasy football:lol:

Not sure mate, I just don't want it to be as shit as last year's match when we won the league . That was a god awful match that was overlooked by the fact we lifted the trophy

Yourself?

Yeah, it was. I don't remember the game itself much as I was pretty hammered for that one, but I know it was a bit shite, and there was barely any goalmouth action. Still, it did the trick I guess, even though it would've been nice to wrap it up in style.

Fairly confident today. Arsenal have started the season well, but we seemed to gel well at Wigan, and with Berba on such form and Owen off the mark now, and looking quite confident, I think we'll win. I'll say 3-1. Or maybe another John O'Shea cracker. :D

I'm going to take my flag to the match, just decided, as I took that to the CL Semi, but not to the Premiership game. I'm not superstitious :nervous:

You might as well Fella. OT could do with a few more flags around the place generally imo. :D

I'm glad today's 5:15pm today, was just thinking. Atmosphere tends to be quite a bit better than lunchtime games really.

Berbatov better start, i will be disappointed if he doesn't join rooney up front.

My guess is;

O'shea - Vidic - Evans - Evra
Valencia - Fletcher - Giggs - Nani
Rooney - Berbatov

Most dippers on RAWK seem to think Arsenal will win, mainly because we have lost that fear-factor we had with Ronaldo  Also, they are apparently better than us in midfield.

Look towards away fans, the flag being waved right next to them is me :D

I can probably see you from where I am, actually (E239).

Is sitting near the away lot really annoying, when they all come and sing 'We Support our Local Team' and all that, or is it quite fun trying to wind them all up? I could imagine E234 being either great or crap in that sense, if you get what I mean

It's brilliant mate, As that chant, which pretty much all teams sing, gets answered by "you support a load of shit" Which shuts them up pretty much immediately, and on a big match it's good winding the feckers up

Haha fair enough. You can't really say much against us, considering our success, so it's probably easier for you to rip whoever we're playing than vice-versa. :D That sounds like a good laugh though really.

E239's pretty good. I can honestly say I've not sat down during more than about 4 or 5 games during the last 3 years there. It's been quite a noisy patch since I moved there. :)

Hmmm not sure how we'll line up for this one. We've done well against them with a 3 man midfield in the past so that's what I would prefer to see, but I can't see Fergie dropping Berbatov, nor can I see Rooney playing anywhere except through the middle. So my guess would be Valencia to miss out and Fletcher being asked to provide a bit of width on the right whilst bolstering our central midfield.

-------------Foster------------
O'Shea---Vidic----Evans----Evra
--Fletcher--Carrick--Anderson
--------Rooney------------Nani
-----------Berbatov------------

Maybe Giggs for Anderson though

If we go 442 I expect:

--------------Foster------------
O'Shea---Vidic------Evans----Evra
Park----Carrick-----Fletcher--Nani
--------Rooney----Berbatov

Again, maybe Giggs for Carrick
