Saturday 3rd November 2012
Barclays Premier League
Old Trafford, Manchester
KO: 1245 GMT

Team should be...

GK: De Gea

RB: Valencia
CB: Evans
CB: Ferdinand
LB: Evra

CM: Carrick
CM: Cleverley
CM: Scholes
CF: Young

CF: Rooney
CF: RVP

Subs: Lindegaard, Rafael, Powell, Anderson, Nani, Welbeck, Hernandez

Cant see how Rafael can start after tonight (why are we playing early on a Saturday after a Wednesday night game?). Not sure about starting Scholes against a pacey Arsenal but again what choice do we have?

Predict RVP to do sod all against his old team

Anderson in for Scholes and that's my team! (I think Rafael actually might start as well)

Anderson surely has to start? He was immense today. Him, Cleverley, Young and Co can continue last season's rape.

So weird that RVP will be playing for us and not Arsenal. Still doesn't seem quite right.

I guess Anderson did only do 80 minutes compared with Rafa's 120 but still think Fergie may opt to continue to take it slow with Anderson this early in the season

One of Scholes or Carrick should make way for Ando, he's putting in the performances when given the opportunity. Right now he's the most powerful CM 0ption we have at our disposal and should start a game like this IMO.

I don't have any stats to prove it but this has to be the biggest game in Asia. No one loves United and Arsenal teams like we do here. The two games against the gooners are my favorites of the season. Can't wait for Saturday...

Team:
DDG
Rafael Evans Rio Evra
Carrick Scholes
Valencia Rooney Young
RVP

Subs: Lindegaard, Smalling, Cleverley, Anderson, Hernandez, Powell, Welbeck

Score 3-1 United.

I doubt Anderson will start as he looked shattered when he came off. Hopefully we play the diamond.

De Gea

Rafael
Rio
Evans
Evra

Carrick
Cleverley
Kagawa
Rooney

RVP
Hernandez

However I imagine Young and Valencia will start over Kagawa and Chicha and we'll go 4-4-2.

We can't drop Carrick as he's the only truly defensive CM we have, but Anderson over Scholes or Cleverley for me, give him a boost in confidence with back to back starts, however I think he'll be on the bench.

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Valencia Carrick Scholes Young
Rooney RVP

It may be too much to play Rafael again after he played 120 minutes today, but he's the only option we've got there. Maybe Cleverley in for Scholes but I feel like Scholes will start seeing as it's been quite a while since he last played. If it were up to me I'd play Cleverley and Anderson next to each other in midfield, because Ando is in great form and always rapes l'arse anyways.

de Gea

Rafael
Ferdinand
Evans
Evra

Valencia
Carrick
Cleverley
Young

Rooney
van Persie

SUBS: Lindegaard, Smalling, Anderson, Scholes, Nani, Welbeck, Hernandez.

Hope get Smalling on for 15-20 minutes by the end of it; this is the game he was due back for and give Rafael some well-earned rest.

Fletch has the potential to be far better than Carrick in a defensive role, all a question of how much of his past conditioning and form he can recover. Doing well so far.

For me Carrick can be intimidated by the opposition far too easily, they jsut waltz through our midfield.

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Nani started instead of Young. Neither provide ideal cover for Evra mind you, who will no doubt be targeted.

Scholes should be an impact sub/calming sub.

YOUTH,YOUTH,YOUTH

---------DDG----------
Rafael-Rio--Evans--Evra
---------Carrick-------
----Anderson--Cleverley-
---------Rooney-------
----Nani------------
-----------RVP

Anderson always does well against Arsenal, wouldn't be a bad game to try and get 70 minutes out of him and have a fresh Cleverley/Scholes against tired legs.

Not too bothered, would rather it's not Scholes and Carrick though.

First game in ages this, right up in the gods.

The team won't be this, but I'd like:

De Gea
Rafael---Ferdinand---Evans---Evra
Carrick
Scholes---Cleverley
Rooney
RVP---Hernandez

Cleverley to mark Cazorla thus reducing Arsenal quite significantly. I expect their defenders will be extra paranoid about stopping RVP for obvious reasons, so include two other strikers to find the resulting space to exploit. Welbeck looked injured, so Hernandez would be my choice despite looking shattered at the end of the Chelsea game - he and Rafael need some serious r&r ahead of Saturday.

I expect it will in reality be RVP and Rooney upfront with Valencia and Young on the wings and Carrick and Scholes in the centre - which might be a problem if Diaby, Arteta and Cazorla all start, or even Wilshire.

As ever I'll be flooding my fantasy team with Arsenal players in order to jinx them...

Considering our success with the 4231/442 against Arsenal last season I can see the appeal of sticking with it. if we do I'd like to see this team:

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Cleverley Anderson
Nani Rooney Young
Persie

But I'd really rather see us keep with the diamond and try to overwhelm their midfield.

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick
Cleverley Anderson
Rooney
Persie Welbeck

Going to the diamond formation trades two wingers for an extra midfielder and striker, who I think are able to create just as much offense as the two wingers we'd have otherwise, and offers much more defensive stability.

With Scholes on the bench we have a plan B if we struggle keeping possession.

Pretty impressive from us, long may we continue to dominate Arsenal.

I quite like that.

I would like to see:

........................DDG............................
Rafael...........Rio........Evans.............Evra
.....................Carrick............................
Valencia...Scholes..Anderson....RVP/Rooney
...................Rooney/RVP........................

RVP and Rooney taking turns in providing us the width. If Anderson is not fully fit, Cleverley in for him then. Or even Young in for him and play wide where he excelled last year against Arsenal.

17.09.2006 Manchester United 0-1 Arsenal

I remember that game. It was absolutely brutal.

If we can nullify the deeper creators and keep a lid on Carzola we should be pretty comfortable. They tend to want to play in behind and less direct. When they start to become direct after the initial sparks of creativity is where we usually squash them.

As ever I'll be flooding my fantasy team with Arsenal players in order to jinx them...

Didn't work for me last year . Had loads of City players.

Whats an insight into RvP's mental capacity for playing against his old club? I hope he does well but I can see him being timid for some reason. He doesn't seem to be the type of 'look at what you're missing' twunt that we've seen leave clubs in the past.

That will be an interesting aspect to the game, no doubt beaten within an inch of it's life by the media leading up to Saturday.

De Gea
Rafael Evans Rio Evra
Carrick Scholes
Valencia Rooney Young
Van Persie

That's what I would go for personally. I think Fergie might stick Cleverley in there in place of Scholes though. Hopefully Smalling can get some minutes near the end as well.

I thought this was away.
Should expect a win considering its Arsenal and its at OT.... But then again, Arse are due a good performance.

Scholes will start this. He has been rested all week for this game. I think it will be:

DDG
Rafael Evans Rio Evra
Carrick Scholes
Cleverly
Valencia RVP Rooney

Though i hope we give starts to anderson and hernandez, as they seem to be in pretty good form lately.

I think that will be the starting line up too

how many of the arsenal mob that played tuesday are likely to be involved?

from our pov i think only rafa will feature, the rest will be fresh

ddg

rafael
rio
evans
evra

cleverley
carrick
scholes

valencia
rvp
rooney

personally would like to see anderson and nani in there but doubt saf will pick them to start

Arsenal to win after United get a man sent off for tying his shoelaces incorrectly. The media to applaud referee for correct decision. Roberto Di Matteo to claim result proves that Chelsea were robbed last week.

De Gea
Rafael Rio Evans Evra
Anderson Carrick Cleverley
Valencia RVP Rooney

Free role for Roo. He can go wide if he wants, or stay in the hole and let Cleverley provide the width.

Possibly Nani over Valencia. I know Fergie will never do it, but Nani showed flashes of what he can do against Chelsea, and if there's any team that will bring him back into form, it's Arsenal. I've lost count of how many times he's violated them.

Not Scholes. He'll break Cazorla's legs and get a red.

I hope we don't go anywhere near a shitty diamond formation! I reckon the only reason we've even tried it is to try fit Kagawa in more easily.

I two of Valencia, Young or Nani playing please! Or maybe play Rooney wide left to give a chance for Hernandez to get a game.

No diamonds though please.

Will Arsenal give Van Persie some rough treatment?

"Robin you're a cnut you're a cnut
Cause you took a punt
On a team
In the trophy huuunt.

Robin you're a dick you're a dick
And we'll give you schtick
Because at
United you've been siiiick."

[To the slightly altered tune of the oh-so-sophisticated 'Samir You're a cnut'].

So that's a no then.

Will Arsenal give Van Persie some rough treatment?

Expect some tasteless chants: 'she said no Robin, she said no' and 'Robin you're a c*nt' - usual crap.

Will be sounded over by 'Oooh Robin Van Persie' :D
