Manchester United vs. Arsenal

Mannone has been Arsenals best player. Says a lot about Arsenal.

I'm never confident when Rooney steps up.

 RvP giving his shirt to Santos.

Yeh... we've seen both Luiz and Keane get away with far worse handballs in the last week because the ball was so close to them. If they weren't penalties, this one wasn't.

It's the position of the hands that count. Carzolas hands were in an unnatural position when the contact was made. He lifted his hands to stop the ball hitting him. That's NOT ball to hand.

The pen was the correct call. I remember Arse conceding another one like this when Fabregas was in the wall and jumped like that.

Rooney's record might be OK, but we need a proper pen taker.
RvN, Ronaldo... we've had some decent ones.

Crap penalty by Rooney but otherwise a very controlled first half.Arsenal have looked extremely poor.I mean in the 8-2 of last season they were playing better than they have so far in the first half

What the feck? RvP giving his jersey to Santos?

feck sake Rooney, in the 45th minute that would effectively kill the game.

Strange game so far. Arsenal seem happy to keep it at one goal. Will probably continue to keep it tight and have a go once they bring on Walcott.

Easiest 45 mins we have had all season. But our final ball has been shocking. We should have put this game to bed long ago. And the 2nd half could be a totally different game.

arse can't be that bad after the break.May go on to rue that penalty miss.

Their hands were by their sides, you cant put both your hands up to block a ball thats heading to your face. Penalty everyday of the week. As someone said, let it hit your face you pansy.

A very poor half of football.

Yes - was vaguely boring. Weird, given the start we had, the atmosphere and the array of attacking talent on both sides.

Have a feeling that penalty miss will be costly as Arsenal will re oragnise and come at us the the 2nd half

Rooney never strikes me as a natural penalty taker. Even though he has a decent record.

This could be one of those games where Arsenal could get two quick goals and then we start playing.

Young is poor.

great start, pretty on and off after that. Some great moments but didn't capitalize. Very much anybody's game yet. And they'll know that they had a mega let off . .. and they'll surely send on Walcott to try and torment Evra

Better team in the first half, need to step it up a gear or two in the second.

This has me really nervous. Arsenal are bound to come out playing better in the second half, and we might regret all those chances missed. Flogging a dead horse and all that, but Ando for Young is so obviously the mistake in our line-up. We need a little bit of spark, and someone who will gamble with through-balls or a little run here or there. Young won us that penalty but in general he's done feck all.

Very solid in defence, awful in the attack. Lucky for us Van persie is so clinical so we're going in 1-0 up, but I haven't seen us make this many poor passes in attack in a long time. Our build up play to get there is very good most of the time but the final pass has let us down time and time again. At least Arsenal have been more shite than us

Sack everybody. Sell everybody. Oh, and bring on Chicha & Ando...there's more space in our midfield than in Arsene's coat.

Yeah that is my concern, we need a 2 goal cushion early first half to make sure of the points as I don't fancy the likes of Carzola and Walcott running at us in the last 20 minutes with only a goal in it.

Good defensively so far. Our wingers have been wank though. Especially young. Roon will have a shocker now, he looked frustrated.

Frustrating half really, could have put the game to bed with the penalty, Arsenal short on belief.

We couldn't really have hoped for a more comfortable half. Shame about the pen, but there's no need to start shitting ourselves.

Maybe I'm missing something but I thought we looked pretty good. The final ball's been lacking, but we've looked by far the better team. I think Evra has looked like the 2008-9 variety, and Rafael is becoming one of my favourite players.

We just need to keep our composure, make a timely sub (Nani for Young?) and we should be fine.
