Manchester United Vs Bayer Leverkusen

There is someone who disagrees? They were ridiculed in every single newspaper in Germany, especially the two players (I think it was Kadlec and Friedrich, both aren't at the club anymore) who fought over Messi's shirt at halftime !!!!. The club then took the shirt away and auctioned it off for charity.

Hyppiä made a joke about this in their press conference last week saying something along the lines that "he hopes his players won't be awe struck by walking onto the pitch of Old Trafford and that they hopefully will think about other things then how to get an autograph from Wayne Rooney".

I think the embarrassment from that day is still pretty much present in and around the club and the players might be out on the field tonight with the mindset that they have a lot to prove.

It was lost in all the "wanking" over Barcelona, that Leverkusen were pathetic in that tie.

 at the comment from Hyppia.

I'm fairly sure Moyes has confirmed Januzaj won't be featuring.

Aye he won't be. We need to wait til October until he qualifies as homegrown. If we register or use him before hand he'll always be classed as a foriegn player for us.

If we get a goal, Moyes will have us defend for dear life.

My guess is this will end in a draw.

Nah we'll look for balance at home and play as we always have IMO. We'll have Fellaini and Carrick as a solid foundation with a bit of luck and we'll have some pace up front to give them something to think about on the break and hopefully stop them from attacking in numbers.

I'd be happy with:

RVP
Kagawa - Rooney - Valencia
Carrick - Fellaini

I think expecting Kagawa to start is... optimistic. I'd be happy if he had a place on the bench this time.

It'll probably be Giggs I guess with Nani out. I really wish he'd retire, it's going to be pedestrian movement with noncey flick ons.

I'm seeing far too many people underestimating Leverkusen in here. In Bender and Rolfes they have 2 very good central midfielders, and they aren't the only good players in the side.

You have been spoilt Pexbo!

Agree with the overall point but Rolfes is spectacularly average. Sam on a good day can definitely cause us some trouble, Kiessling has been a very good player for a long time now and Heung-Min Son is very gifted and looked to have made the step up at Leverkusen reasonably well from what I saw. Definitely no pushovers.

Our UCL fonts for this season is pretty sexy looking, it's on the United online store
Was about to mention it in the U19 game thread. Looks good on the players, should be even better with the names on.

Dot get me wrong, I appreciate his contribution over the last two decades as much as anyone, but you have to be living in a world of blissful ignorance if you believe he still offers something to the club on the pitch. 1 moment of magic every 20 games isn't enough even if it does draw out all the top reds pointing to those few and far between examples as a sign of "what he can do". If you throw enough darts at the dart board, you'll hit a bullseye eventually, it doesn't mean your average is as high as someone regularly hitting single and treble twenties. Namsayin?

I'd like us to win this game at least 4-0.

I'd obviously prefer a bunch of goals for us but I'd definitely not mind a solid 1-0 either.

looks like you called it.

I like that line-up a lot, except Smalling at right back. Hopefully Rafael (if he's back) or Fabio will play against City.
