I just hope that Rio and Vida are a couple of rocks at the back. It will give us the confidence to go forward and attack. Irrespective of what the front line is tonight, width is the key to victory.

Yes, and ordinarily I'd agree, but if he gets injured and then misses the season like Fabregas did where would that leave us? Getting into the SF isn't the goal is it? We still need to beat the frenchies (which isn't a foregone conclusion), and then there's the little matter of either Inter or more probably Barca.
Even with Rooney the CL seems a very difficult prospect.
At least with the league there is a good chance if Chelsea slip up we can capitalize if Rooney is fit. Put it this way: I'd love to see Rooney start, but i'm afraid that we might be risking him too early and end up losing both the tie and the league as well.

I'd have a 70% fit Rooney on the bench without a doubt. We're allowed to have 7 subs (i think) so its worth havin Rooney lying & waitin if the worst case scenario happens & we need him with 20 odd minutes to go!

He's a ball-runner through the middle with a eye for a through-ball to Nani, Valencia & Berba, & thats the kind of method that will trouble a dodgy backline. Bayern weren't great - we were just brutal, so we have it in us to put things right tonight!
If we can somehow score early, then we could run riot against them in the first-half & knock the stuffling out of them
