Manchester United vs. Beşiktaş JK

Agreed.

Unfortunately, Fabio missed training too though, so we don't really have any other options. Unless SAF takes a massive gamble and gives Dudgeon a shot?

Can't see that. Think we'll just have to play Evra. Could maybe play Rafael there, but would have to play Fletcher at RB then.

Hard to believe we are so shallow in defence all of a sudden.

EDIT: Ben Hibbs:

Boss asked if he'll start Macheda and Welbeck up front. Says he's not decided, but didn't rule it out. Obertan, Gibson, Park Rafa starters
From press conf. United still struggling in defence with Rio, Evans and O'Shea out. G Nev a doubt

I guess Nev is not competely ruled out so. Need to change my lineup above based on that.

Might be an even longer shot but wasn't there talk of Anderson's best position being left-back when he first joined.

Not saying we'd even consider moving him there full time but might be a useful experiment as cover for Evra.

Girish and I disagree here.

I think the most notable absentee from the reserve game tonight (given our defensive injuries) is Corry Evans.

I'm having second thoughts on this rocks, given my post earlier quoting from the united site, it seems we are down in numbers at the back. I'm waiting on some news from the press conference.

Are either King or C.Evans in the CL squad?

Interesting. Exciting to see Obertan get a start and good to see Park back.

Bad news for Nani though, unless this means he's gonna start the league game?

But also

18.16 A player may be registered on List B if he is born on or after 1 January 1988
and has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted
period of two years since his 15th birthday by the time he is registered with
UEFA. Players aged 16 may be registered on List B if they have been
registered with the participating club for the previous two years without
interruption.

I think King fails this as he was registered on 1st July 2008.

Good detective work!

Looks like King out, but C. Evans in so.

Given the new info, it looks like

-----------Foster-------------
Rafael--Brown--Vidic--Evra----
Park--Gibson--Scholes--Obertan
-------Berbatov--Owen--------

Subs. PIG, Neville, Fletcher, Anderson, Nani, Welbeck, Macheda

Want-away pig
A twin - Orange - Serbinator -
evra.gif

Jackson - Thomas/Daniel Gibson - An:Derson - Usain Welbeck
Machedaaaaaaaaaaa - Owened

Shame Evra has to play again because he must be exhausted. But do angels really tire?

Neville out then, but I'd like to see Berbatov and Rooney will start up front. Apparently we're playing Welbeck and Macheda, but Berbatov is likely to play.. So perhaps it'll be Welbeck on the wing? I think Evra will just play again, he's a machine. If we're lucky we might get the chance to take him off early anyway.

Starting 11

---------Foster

-Rafael Brown Vidic Evra

Park Gibson Anderson Obertan

----Berbatov Welbeck

Subs
Kuszczak
Fletcher
Scholes
Carrick
Nani
Macheda
Owen

Might see something like this squad bearing in mind that we are Away to Portsmouth at the weekend.

Man Utd boss Ferguson: Time is now for Welbeck, Macheda

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson says Danny Welbeck and Kiko Macheda will get their chance against Besiktas tomorrow night.

Young strikers Welbeck, 19 on Thursday, and Macheda, 18, have been conspicuous by their absence from Ferguson’s squads this term.

Ferguson admits that he must now test Welbeck and Macheda at the highest level in order not to stunt their development at Old Trafford.

Ferguson said: “I will be making changes (against Besiktas). Not a lot, but enough just to freshen it up. It’s a problem keeping players happy, but everyone has that when you have a squad of players.

“We use the League Cup for that and, if we can qualify early enough in the (Champions League) group, we can then use the likes of Welbeck. He will definitely play (against Besiktas) and Macheda too probably. They are the ones that need to be challenged.

“They’ve reached a point, and it happens in football, when a footballer has the ability to be a top player and you recognise that. You have to give them the challenge. If you don’t, they lose the scent.

“But this club has been good at recognising that over the years.

“It’s unfortunate for players above them, but when the likes of Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes came through, we thought they were certainties, but we had to give them a chance. And we did.

“That’s the nature of football. A young player turns the corner and takes someone’s job.”

Formed by six teenagers in 1980, Carsi is now a thousands-strong organisation that, unusually, marries fanaticism for the team with political causes.

"My wife cannot understand me,"

"Carsi is like a spirit,"

It has a changing cast of members but, for the core, the group is central to their lives.

We have to scream whether we win or lose - all that matters is the atmosphere, the expectation that you are not only there but you are living it.

Seats in Carsi's section for last Saturday's derby against Fenerbahce cost 250 Lira (£100) - more than all but the most expensive tickets at Old Trafford.

But televised games, the internet and cheap European flights have brought more people into the Carsi fold.

You have to consider the possibility that Carsi does not like you. It never wanted you. In all probability, it hates you. This is the worst thing that can happen. And sticking feathers up your butthole does not make you Carsi.

I see you've started the Carsi-ness in the mains. :)

Where is that great exponent of all things carsi and all things diouf : Gambit?

Carsi!!! Those were good times Giri good times. Imagine the going ons in the newbs right now.

Apparently it's not, but what is Carsi?

Ask Gambit, he was a fun old drunk who used roam around here. Seemingly lost in the intraweb that poster. :(

Cheeky little twunt. I'm still here, just waiting for the correct moment to unleash the inner demon.

I hope to see Nani, Owen, Ober and De Laet all in the starting line up

Foster

Rafael
Brown
Vidic
Evra

Obertan
Gibson
Anderson
Park

Welbeck
Berbatov

According to the Independent.

I would like to see Nani given a run but I guess Park needs a few games and Obertan deserves a start too.

It seems as if Gibson will start as Fergie has been saying good things about him.
