Manchester United vs. Chelsea - 26/11/2006 (16:00)

I think if beat chelsea we should get the champions title in the same day, but if loose we are doomed :(

Last three games:

2-1 Sheff Utd (A)
1-0 Blackburn (A)
3-0 Portsmouth (H)

Portsmouth are what 4th in the league and we stuffed them 3-0, We beat Blackburn for the first time in years on a absolutely awful night, terrible conditions and yet we stepped up and did the job, and good win against a dogged Sheff Utd team that we throughly deserved. As good premeiership form as we could want going into a big match surely?

last three games do not include Porthsmouth win but do include defeat to Celtic.

I repeat... I think we're doing absolutely fine but attacking hasn't been at the same level it was a wild ago. And obviously Blackburn, Sheffield and Celtic are not Chelsea.

I hope we win,
Drogba breaks his leg(s),
the FA relegates Chelski,
Rooney scores a hattrick,
we beat them in the CL 1/8 final,
and Mourinho suffers a heart attack.

edit: Roman goes bankrupt

It will probably be a boring draw.

We have a ball winner.

Last three premiership games. I don't beleive European form has anything to do with this match in the same way i'm not counting the carling cup. This is the premiership and our premiership form could not realistically be much better.

cant agree.

the attacking has been as scintilating as it has been all season - what with a galaxy of chances fashioned against both blackburn and sheff utd - this just wasnt translated into goals.

had ronaldo and rooney not been trying to outdo each other for open goal misses then we would have had another 4 goals - its fine margins - but to say the attacking play has gone down is not fair.

what i would say is that the cutting edge has gone down a level in the last few - but that happens when the season starts to get to its awkward stage.

4-4-2 again.

----------Van der Saar---------

Gary------Rio---Vidic------Evra

Ronaldo--Scholes-Carrick--Giggs

---------Rooney-Saha---------

To be honest, I have no idea who should play at left-back. I like Heinze better, but Evra probably deserves it more. I think Sir Alex will go with Evra anyhow.

Should we get a free kick: let Giggs take it.
Should we get a penalty: let Ronaldo take it.

Pred: tight as hell of course.

1-0 Vidic

we will lose if we play 4-4-2 against Chelsea's 3 central midfielders.....like we did against Arsenal when they played Fabregas, Gilberto, Hleb central.

Against Arsenal we played without Carrick. If we play Carrick and Scholes we will be fine.

Yes I hope so, but I am worried about Chelseas 3 central midfielders. Let's hope Fergie plays Giggs on the left, but maybe Rooney can help Carrick and Scholes in the centre of midfield a little.

I still can't understand why Fergie dropped Carrick against Arsenal and played O'Shea instead, let's hope he play Carrick vs Chelsea.

I do beleive European form has everything to do with this match in the same way i'm counting the carling cup.

But hey. Who cares do we count the carling cup or not....

Chelsea's gonna lose if they don't change. We need Ronaldo and Giggs on the flanks because that's the place where Chelsea sucks.

Agree with most of the teams. The only tactic I would use is if Makelele plays, get Rooney to sit a bit deeper and track him like he did last season.

What ever the selection is, I just hope that United have the motivation and drive to come out big in this game.

This is the right post in this thread.

4-1-3-1-1

that´s the same as 4-4-2, you don´t say to the same players: play "442" or play "41311" or whatsoever

and Scholes is playing a little bit deeper than Carrick so far

The most worrying aspect of this game for me is the lack of depth on the bench.
The bench against Celtic did not contain one striker.
Things are very different now to when we had Cole and Yorke starting and Teddy and Ole waiting on the bench.
No real quality or depth on the bench = big problem, not only for this game, but for the rest of the season. :(

It´s not so bad. Park will be back soon, Ole too.

And for 4th striker´s spot I see three alternatives: 1. Smith back fit and sharp 2. Rossi back 3. some signing in the january (D. Bent maybe)

we played 4-5-1 against arsenal and i think that's why we lost. 4-4-2 for me

Cristiano Ronaldo claims Chelsea have not improved this season despite the arrivals of Michael Ballack and Andriy Shevchenko.

Ronaldo -'United can do the treble.'

The Portuguese winger says Chelsea are 'about the same as they were last year' and 'just do enough to win' games while Manchester United have got better.

He even claims that this United team can emulate the side of 1999 and win the Treble.

"I think we're capable of winning everything - the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League," Ronaldo told Zoo magazine. "Man United are fighting, as always, to win every trophy.

"This weekend's game with Chelsea is very vital. We're neck-and-neck with Chelsea and this is a good sign because we can't allow them to go too far ahead like last year. We're in a better position to win the league.

"Rivalry between us and Chelsea exists and I've experienced it in each match we've played. But there isn't the same passion as the Manchester derby or games against Arsenal or Liverpool. Perhaps it's because now they are doing well, whereas before it had always been United at the top.

"I think Chelsea are about the same as they were last year. The transfers of Shevchenko and Ballack haven't changed them too much in terms of their superiority to everybody else. They have to work harder to win games. They just do enough to win."

Ronaldo also reveals his petulant and destructive side in the magazine interview.

He said: "Sometimes when I perform badly or when things don't go the way I want, I come straight home, go to the small bedroom in my house and lock the door. I just stay there.

"I also have boxing gloves to hit something - or someone - to relieve stress. And I like to play the jambe, which are bongo drums, because it feels good. And I have a dartboard where me and my friends have competitions.I play football in the garden, like loads of guys do.

"I even broke a window once. I made a pass to my cousin Nuno but the ball hit the glass and broke it.

"I have always been destructive! When I was mad once, I put a TV set in a tree and tried to take it down by kicking a football at it. And it worked!"
:D

Where do everybody got Darren Bent as transfer-target from? Wouldn't want him anywhere near OT.

A classic awaits with both teams going for the jugular, but honours even at Old Trafford.

Player to watch: Cristiano Ronaldo.

It seems many people think it'll be a goalfest with at least 4 goals.

We are at home, we are in a terrific form, what more do you want? What you basically are saying is that their starting XI is stronger than ours. You are one shit supporter did you know that?

Chelsea XI is a lot stronger than ours mate.

Whatever kind of formation Chesea play we have to play 4-4-2 if we are to win .
Because this is the formation we play best with.
