Manchester United vs Chelsea

I really hope Giggs has one of his good games, he never seems to have average games, it's either brilliant or terrible. He just needs to make his passes work from the start as he has a tendency to throw away too many balls once he gets going.

I'm not Evans biggest fan, never have been, but this is a real test for the boy and I really hope he steps up to it and show us all what he's capable of.

Eh? Are you talking about when he was at Sunderland?

He was brilliant for them. Saved their arses.

His form has dipped the last few games though. As has Fletcher's. And then there's the Giggs terribly/brilliant conundrum.

I'm not one for doom and gloom but this line-up scares the shit out of me. Rio and Carrick are gonna be badly missed. There's no way SAF dropped Carrick he must have a knock. feck's sake.

I've had three text messages so far off fellow reds all along the lines of "Giggs starting and not Carrick! WTF?!"

On a more positive note:

It will be interesting to see how Park would operate in a three-man midfield. Giggs has been playing quite an advanced role in the middle this season, so I would expect Fletcher to drop back a bit. So where would that leave Park?

Well, Park DID play as a defensive midfielder in his earlier years...

Somebody on one of the other boards posted a couple of hours ago that Rio failed a fitness test this morning. I'm surprised about Carrick though.

On the plus side Chelsea fans I know are just as pissed off Deco is starting for them.

I just don't rate him as highly as everyone else seem to do, Pogue. He is very talented and has a great future ahead of him, but I'm not sure he has what it takes to replace Rio in the long run.

 'kinell Fergie!!

Why play a midfield duo who've probably never player together in our most important game this season, while our best midfield duo are sat on the bench????

:nervous:

Weird that you have so much faith in Nani making it, who's a couple of years older and much more hit and miss, IMO.

Oh well. Not really the thread for petty squabbles. Not yet anyway :smirk:

Why do we have three center midfield players on the bench and no wingers? Nani for Anderson would have made a lot more sense.

Maybe the same reason we have three wingers on the pitch and only one centre mid?

I don't think it's us at our strongest, but I'm not as scared of Chelsea's midfield as some are. They could possibly rape us, but I think there's a better chance of them not working out in practice as well as they do on paper.

It looks like Nani has lost SAF's confidence.

Not progressed at all and deservedly not picked by Fergie.

Fletcher and Giggs started against Everton in the midfield and they were fecking excellent in the first half.

Carrick must be carrying some sort of knock.

Scholes was absolutely horrendous against Derby. Played far too poorly to start such an important game.

Not so worried about Giggs starting ahead of Carrick. It's Rio that we'll miss today. And would really have liked to have Nani on the bench.

so in the studio we have Gary MacAllister, Jamie Carragher and Jamie Redknapp

not 1 united or chelsea personality

I REALLY hope I´m wrong, but I´m worried about Fletcher and Giggs as a midfield duo.

I have 100% confidence that Evans will do well in defence, but I´m not sure about the midfield.

Oh dear. Really bizarre - Carrick and Scholes (apparently) both fit, they're our best midfielders, and they're on the bench. I'll hope to be proved wrong here, but that's a weak midfield in my book.

FFS, 3 pundits all with dipper connections in the Sky studio as pundits:lol:

Don't know whether to laugh or cry.

As a combination i think it's fine, actually its bloody good against average opposition. Against Chelsea though it has made me slightly more nervous than i was before.

I'm sure Fergie has his reasons though.
