Manchester United vs Chelsea

What's this?

People losing their faith before the battle is even joined?

We might need to ration Giggs these days but that doesn't mean he's a wreck. Sure Carrick is great but that XI can do the business.

And Patrice will have been burning to get out onto a pitch again and cause all kinds of havoc too.

UNITED!!

I cant watch the build up on Sky. The strange noises coming from Carraghers mouth is driving me insane.

Oh dear. Really bizarre - Carrick and Scholes (apparently) both fit, they're our best midfielders, and they're on the bench. I'll hope to be proved wrong here, but that's a weak midfield in my book.

THB i'm not surprised at all that Scholes isn't playing.

scholes/carrick>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>fletcher/giggs.

I doubt we'll win with this team, saf is god but what is the reasoning behind such a team.
We were favourites before the match id put us as slight underdogs now.

Weird that you have so much faith in Nani making it, who's a couple of years older and much more hit and miss, IMO.

Oh well. Not really the thread for petty squabbles. Not yet anyway :smirk:

I don't have any particular huge faith in Nani making it, I have faith in his ability and what he could possibly become, but I have my doubts whether or not he'll ever be our first choice on the wing.

The reason behind my lack of confidence in Evans is basically down to his lack of stature and strength in the air - he seems to lose out whenever he's up against someone decent in the air, and that worries me. He's of course still very young, and can improve that part of the game, but it's still one of my concerns. I fear what Drogba's strength will do to him today if they're paired at some point during the match.

But like I said; hopefully he'll step up to the challenge today and have a blinder. Fergie certainly rates him and that's good enough for me for now :smirk:

Er, why do we have three central midfielders on the bench and only one in the team?

Fergie's picked Giggs on form, according to Sky interview. Just gave him a ringing endorsement on Sky and both Carrick and Anderson are fit. Not good news on Rio, going to a specialist on Monday.

Fergie "i could have played carrick or anderson but giggs experience can be vital"

FFS Fergie Carrick is our undisputed number one midfielder and you drop him in a crunch game.

Unbelievable decision, hope he is vindicated at the end of the 90 mins

Jesus Christ.

I've spent years defending SAF over team selections but this time, I'm at a loss. What the feck is he thinking? :wenger:

I'm with you I'm afraid. Chelsea's midfield are going to make us their bitches. I've just had a sizeable bet on Chelsea and with that lineup I think the best we can do is a draw. I pray I'm wrong of course and feel free to rip me if I am, but I can't see it.

Even the best make mistakes and Fergie has dropped one of his biggest ever bollocks today.

A Current Liverpool player and 2 former Liverpool players, one of which played for and managed Leeds.

Nice to see Sky offering some nice balanced analysis.

I agree with you Pogue ,today of all days ,we're playing with the weakest midfield we could possibly put out there. I'm gonna be nervous as hell :nervous:

now they show footage of terry with "Ironman" playing, surely they should show vidic with the terminator music
