Manchester United vs Everton

That shot of berbatov on the bench just after he came off, some thinking to do. hes just too nonchulant, hes so talented but needs to change its never too late.

I think there could be big changes. Fergie might risk resting players who really need a day off, like Evra and Carrick.

Foster

Neville
Evans
Vidic
O'Shea

Park
Gibson
Scholes
Nani

Macheda
Tevez

Might be hard to keep Rooney off the pitch of course.

We wont get through with that team its a semi final! we must play our strongest team whilst resting the players who need it.

I think he might just give Macheda a start and as others have suggested here, along with Tevez.Anderson needs games ,another start I feel would be good for him.Wembley is a big tiring pitch and I feel we suffered after the Carling Cup so as the prem is the priority, the bench for the two Rons.I wonder what is the position with Fletch,if it is hamstring he will hardly be back for this game

I reckon Fabio will be involved. His only other appearance was in the cup against Spurs, and he played very well. In addition to this, Evra hasn't been in blinding form of late.

I'd like to see the team freshened up a bit, but Everton are good enough to beat us if we get it wrong.

I'd be delighted if Evra and Carrick got a rest for this one. Rooney will be very eager to knock out his old team, but I have a feeling he will be rested. This game could be very good for Berbatov to get back into fitness, and hopefully rediscover the scoring form he was in at the start of the new year.

Bench: Nani, Foster, Carrick, Macheda, Evans, Rafael, Berba

Berbatov, Evra, Giggs and Carrick all rested, Fletcher will be ready for this one, Park and Tevez didn't play in midweek so they'd be in.

IMO VDS should start this one rather than Foster.

I agee evra need a rest, he has look out of sorts since his return from injury.

I doubt it very much. He wasn't even on the bench in games where we had less players available.

are there replays....

the one thing we don't want is a replay - get it done and dusted on sunday

No replays, haven't been for the last decade or so I don't think.

Looks like we'll fresh things up, but i don't expect wholesale changes. I want the same back four as what started against Porto. Midfield is where I expect more changes, and Tevez to partner Berbatov up front more than likely.

----------Foster

-------Berba Tevez

PIG; Rafael, Evans; Ronaldo, Anderson; Rooney, Macheda

VDS, Carrick, Evra and Giggs rested for Pompey on Wednesday. Rooney and Ronaldo on the bench if needed

No injuries please.

Extra time and penalties.

Cheers.

Btw it's absolutely retarded playing these semi-finals at wembley. Apart from the nonsense of two teams from the north west having to travel to london and back on a sunday it means that for the teams playing second, us and everton, the pitch is going to be a right mess. Fergie was upset at how poor it was when we played the carling cup final and it's going to be much, much worse having had a game played on it 24 hours previously.

I predict a few changes from Wednesday

Rafael--------Rio---------Vida----------Evra

Park---------Fletch-------Scholes------Nani

-------------Tevez--------Berba------------

unleash Rooney for Berba after about an hour

This doesn't look good, from The Times.........

Wayne Rooney ruled out of Everton reunion

"Wayne Rooney appears certain to miss Manchester United’s FA Cup semi-final against Everton tomorrow. The forward had expected to face his former club, but is extremely unlikely to be fit for the game at Wembley after a scan yesterday, having suffered a blow to his foot during the Champions League victory over Porto in midweek.
Sir Alex Ferguson, the United manager, played down concerns over Rooney at his pre-match press conference yesterday, saying that the forward and Michael Carrick had “knocks, but nothing serious”, but it emerged last night, after the player had a scan, that the injury was more serious. Although initial diagnosis in Oporto on Wednesday ruled out yet another metatarsal fracture, it appears that there is damage, which could restrict Rooney’s involvement in the final weeks of the season unless he rests immediately.
Rooney will be distraught after emphasising how much he was looking forward to playing against Everton in such a big game, even going so far as to offer an olive branch to the Merseyside club’s supporters, whom he upset by leaving for United in 2004.
Dimitar Berbatov will deputise for Rooney, and Ferguson’s team selection promises to be interesting as the United manager has made clear that the Champions League is his overwhelming priority this season, followed by the Barclays Premier League. There were indications from the United camp last night that Ferguson could make as many as six changes to the team that won 1-0 against Porto, which, with Rooney out and Carrick struggling, would suggest that players such as Patrice Evra, who has looked tired lately, Anderson and Ryan Giggs could drop out.

Ferguson is eager to keep his squad fresh before the Premier League matches against Portsmouth and Tottenham Hotspur next week and, beyond that, the Champions League semi-final against Arsenal. He reported that Darren Fletcher was fit after a knee injury and that Wes Brown may start his comeback in a Lancashire Senior Cup tie against Preston North End on Monday. The England defender has not played since suffering a metatarsal fracture during United’s previous meeting with Everton, a 1-0 win at Old Trafford on January 31.

Going to be a tough one with or without Rooney.Lots of silly talk at the end of the porto match saying we are back ect.We will see on sunday if we have reclaimed our early season form.

Really? I was getting abit annoyed at his corners last night didn't seem to put any power into them - guess hes going for technique but sometimes you just have to get it in there especially with Vidic around. Still Giggsy love him can't complain too much.

Agreed, I wanted a bit more power on those.

My bet for the first 11 would be
Foster
Rafael, Evans, Rio,Neville
Park, Fletch, Scholes, Nani
Tevez, Berbatov
Fletcher has to play, maybe Anderson will be in the team ahead of Park or maybe Park can play as a defender instead of Rafael. Macheda will get 30 minutes in the second hald as Berba badly needs to get his confidence up by playing more. Evans will hopefully start to freshen things up but Fergie might go for Vidic instead so that we are rock solid at the back. Will be nice to sdee the likes of Carrick, Evra, Ronnie and Roon get a rest.

David Moyes insists Everton go into Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final in ‘great confidence’ because Manchester United look beatable.

United are currently on course for an unprecedented quintuple, yet it would be hard to argue that they have played to their full potential since their 4-0 drubbing of Fulham seven games ago.

Moyes has seen United beaten by Liverpool and Fulham and ship goals against Porto and Aston Villa, before going some way to arresting that erratic form with a solid 1-0 win in Porto.

The Everton boss is adamant his club are close to capturing their first trophy since beating United at Wembley in 1995, and he feels The Toffees are meeting the champions at an opportune time.

"Our recent games against United have been tight, we have only lost by a late penalty and drawn a couple.

"It is not easy, they have different ways of playing and different combinations of players that they can use.

"But the way Manchester United have been playing recently gives teams hope they can get something from games against them.

“That is why we are going into this semi-final with great confidence.

"There is a real belief after victories against top-class sides to get this far, why can we not do the same to Manchester United?

"I hope it is all clicking at the right time for us. The expectation is on United, but we believe we have a real chance and our cup run has given us confidence.”

Moyes has attempted to alleviate the pressure on his players ahead of the game, insisting Everton will win a trophy soon – even if they do not manage it this year.

“The players at Everton will win a trophy soon, that’s for sure, and I’m looking forward to it happening.

“I hope it is this time, but if it isn’t, it is going to be soon. We want to win a cup. Last season we got to the semi-final of the League Cup, had a good run in the Uefa Cup, so we’re getting better as a cup side.”

United Will Be Without Key Players Against Everton

Wayne Rooney is reportedly desperate to play against his old club in the FA Cup semi-final tomorrow but he won't get the chance, not least because he's nursing a minor injury at the moment.

"When I pick my team, no matter what it is there will be critics voicing a concern about me not playing my strongest team," Fergie admitted.

"Not everyone agrees with changes. There are some supporters who want me to play my best team every game.

"That is impossible. If you look at Wednesday`s game you are off your head to think I could play the same team again."

Well, nothing surprising. There will be the usual voices about United's perceived lack of respect shown towards the FA Cup but then if we win there will be moans that the Big Four are dominating the cup... so doesn't matter.

Reports say that Van der Sar, Berbatov, Rooney, Ronaldo, Ferdinand and Anderson are all expected to miss the game... It will be an interesting line-up I expect. Something like this:

Foster - Brown (oh yes, he's set to return), Evans, Vidic, O'Shea - Park, Scholes, Gibson, Nani - Tevez, Welbeck or Macheda

Looks fun, doesn't it?

i'm glad everton fancy themselves - they revel in the role of underdog against us and i love the idea of them coming into the game having a go at us - the last few games they have pushed us really hard and there has been very little between the teams - after our defensive dsiplay the other night and the signs that we're getting back into a bit of form they will make a mistake in under-estimating us

only worry is the pitch which doesnt look great and will suit their style more than ours and the fact that we are bound to pick up a few knocks against a really physical team like everton

Saf said he'd consider playing brown in the reserves on monday but that would still be rushing him a bit. saf said hes a great defender and will give us a great option in defence for the rest of the season.
Two games v arsenal in europe one in the league. chelsea in the fa cup final, barcalona in the CL final. were gonna need him, i dont really trust neville, rafael or o'shea. i trust brown though, mabey saf feels the same.
