Manchester United vs. Everton

 such a bunch of fecking drama queens in here. the midfield is similar to many weve played loads of times and won in recent years. some of the comments are beyond reason. its obviously not great for a top side but not top 10? worst in decades? take a reality check, we had a midfield not long back with miller and djemba, and i remember giggs starting in the centre before he had even adapted to playing there, alongside o'shea with fletcher and richardson on the wings! is life not harder when youre so bloody hysterical??

valencia, on his game is one of the better right wingers in the league. fellaini, like it or not is a very good player that just hasnt clicked here yet and hes partnered by giggs who put in our best midfield performance of the week last year. kagawa is a brilliant player and would feature alot in most teams anywhere and welbeck, if he even plays down the left has done well there before.

Some sense

Does anybody think Moyes thought for a while that Nani was defensive so he played him and then he found out he could dribble so he instantly benched him?

I'd almost search for a facepalm jpg for that. Could not be arsed though.

Yeah that's wrong.

Danny's workrate, defensive work is much superior to Nani. Obviously that shouldn't be how a Man United winger should be picked but let's not make up facts here.

I don't think there's that much in it to be honest, Nani is really underrated defensively I think. I'm not saying Welbeck does nothing, as he is a very hard worker, I just don't like him on the wing at all because it's not like he's good defensively in the first place. It's a case of hard worker but like 5 or 6/10 defensively against much better going forward but 4 or 5/10 defensively. Either way, they could both improve.

Anyways, I think we'll win it if Kagawa stays central and Welbeck stays wide, but it'll be a tough game, thats for sure. The wing is my only criticism for the selection, but that doesn't make the midfield good just because it's the best we have to offer.

It's the anti drama queen, drama queen though. The comments aren't too bad in here, just people sharing their opinion.

Thompson: Its a bit weird how Moyes went to go meet Fergie when he was at Everton still
Le Tissier: To be fair, he didn't know why he was meeting him
Thompson: Yeah but he knew when he left

What a fecking idiot
That didn't really happen

Obviously it's practically the best lineup we have available however Welbeck out wide is just baffling after the Spurs game, it's such a defensive selection.

Glad Rafael's back, let's hope Fellaini and Giggs are up for it.

Evra got his arse done by Lennon despite Welbeck being there.

If you look at some of the highlights, you'll notice the front three last Sunday were constantly interchanging. There was no fixed position.
Welbeck came from the right hand to win the penalty.

Welbeck is great at tracking back and putting a shift in..Goalscoring is another issue altogether though

worst midfield in decades? not a top 10 midfield? see the comment thats been quoted above you? come on, its hysterical.

The way the lineup is posted, could it be Welbeck behind Rooney with Kagawa out left?

Fair enough, there's always a few though. It'd be an abnormal matchday thread otherwise.

The only player really playing out of position is Welbeck (assuming he starts left) but it's a position he's played probably more then as a striker.
It was a question more rather than a criticism to be fair, I was curious to know if it was actually the case or not.

Putting a shift in is what he does most of the time. Creating chances however is something he doesn't do much. It's a defensive move.

It really isn't unless you include Hull City as a top 10 team (somehow they're 10th currently). Just look at the other teams in there. We don't have anything better to offer for this game but that doesn't make it a good midfield.

I really hope we aren't using Kagawa left again just to get Welbeck in the team, he was poor against Spurs.

Pedantics, but Mirror has it Welbeck, Kagawa, Rooney but the official twitter account has it as Kagawa, Welbeck, Rooney. It's quite a big difference IMO.

Hopefully I'll get a glimpse of Deulofeu tonight as well but Valencia vs Oviedo might be an interesting battle

I don't see playing Welbeck as a defensive selection. He might put a shift in, like he did against Real, but he's also a quality attacker, quick, technically gifted and has good link up play. It's not like playing Park was. Having him, Rooney and Kagawa in the same forward line makes it very flexible and I think if Giggs is in Leverkusen form we might see some good football tonight. I'd have preferred Nani but calling Welbeck a defensive selection underestimates what he is capable of in the attacking third. His finishing may lack composure but his overall attacking game is quality.

ok. that midfield is not a top 10 midfield. as you were. im escaping this rubbish....dont know why i ever venture into matchday threads.

There is no excuse for Moyes not to be tactically spot on imo. A lot of pressure on him for this game.

Don't worry lads, Nani will come on after 83 minutes to save us.

Ok you're right, Fellaini and Giggs are a bitter midfield pairing then Arsenal's, Chelsea's, City's, Liverpool's, Everton's, Newcastle's, Southampton's, or Spurs' midfield. There's optimism but there's also delusion.

If we don't win tonight, Moyes has ruined Christmas

:nervous:

Quite worryingly i can see Olly do an absolutely excellent GIF of Moyes as the Grinch.

But I am going to be positive and hopes its a GIF of Moyes as the Grinch stealing Barkley from Everton.

That's 8 teams. You forgot the other two that are better than us.

So one of Welbeck and Kagawa won't play in his best position. That's crap. Could it be Welbeck top, Rooney behind and Kagawa left? Still not ideal but could work.

One of them would be United's normal midfield (Jones and Carrick), and I said it would be a top 10 if you count Hull City as the 10th as they currently are. Anyways, you get the point.

Welbeck dropping into CM and pressing Barry wouldnt be the worst tactic if he does end up in the middle.
