Expecting a few changes for this. Park in central midfield being 1 of them.

I don't think any of our back four should play at Basle considering our injuries. I can certainly see starts for Fryers and Fabio. Think Valencia will continue at right back. Macheda and Welbeck will start and so will Park.

This is a CL game, not a Carling Cup one. You would be mad to see the Fryers lad throw into this after just one appearance in the first team. It wasn't a first team at all at Leeds away

De Gea

Valencia-Jones-Rio-Fabio

Nani-Fletcher-Giggs-Park

Berbatov-Welbeck

Rooney and Welbeck hopefully for this one. I'd also like DDG to get his champions league debut.

Not a fecking chance that Rio starts this one.

We are running out of defenders you see. Unless Smalling returns.

Yes it would make sense to play our best defender in a potentially easy match in between a defensive crisis. I don't Fergie will play Rio twice in three days. Fryers will play.

We need to win this one. De Gea is a young man and won't be with his national team so he should play, Rio should be either rested entirely or given half a game.

He's the captain in Spain U21 team.

They're playing only one match on international break. In Croatia, 6 October.

And I agree he should play against Basel and Norwich.

No chance fryers will play. You can't take any game for granted, especially a home game where we 'expect' to pick up 3 points.

We might not have a choice. I seriously doubt Rio will be risked.

bugger, we have no luck at all on the injury front. valencia at right-back then, wtf happen to evans in the warm-up today?will he be fit to play?

I know but I just doubt Rio will be risked.

We can do without Rio against Norwich at home and it's the international break after that. Or he can play the match, progesses fine and pretend to get injured on Tuesday on 89 mins and Fergie will pull him out of England. Get qualification done early and you can rest and not risk players all you want for the remaining 2 or 3 matches

we don't have a choice, you can't expect us to play a rookie like fryers against a top swiss side like basel in europes, it way too risky.

I know almost nothing about Basel, if they're going to be tougher than Norwich I wouldn't mind seeing the first team, I'm sure Rio can manage if he's going to have Norwich off.

But it might mean we need to play Fryers against Norwich.

Maybe put Gibson on the bench, if half fit.

Is Fryers in the registered squad for the PL and CL?

He is 19, so he doesn't have to be in the registered squad for the Premier League, and while we can have unlimited under 21's in the Champions League as well (if they have been at the club for 3 years or 2 years if they are 16), you have to name them but they can be added at any point.

But he wasn't the last I knew UEFA Champions League - Man. United ? UEFA.com

Ooh cool, I hope we see a few of the younger players from the academy making cameo appearances in the league! :D
