Manchester United vs. Fulham

Harsh on Nani I feel, certainly doesn't deserve to be completey dropped if Rooney isn't. Hopefully it's just a knock. Still good team and glad that it's ando in there, with Carrick in defence I think we need the extra strength/speed of ando.

Schwarzer; Riether, Hangeland, Hughes, Briggs; Duff, Diarra, Dembele, Kacaniklic; Ruiz; Petric

I haven't heard of their fullbacks!

Riether used to be a fullback for wolfsburg when they won the title, so he's alright. No idea who Briggs is though, Valencia better have a field day out there.

Great looking team. Very harsh on Nani though. Not the best timing as well with his contract still up in the air. Hope he's got a slight knock.

Or we'll sign a winger. We tried for Hazard and Lucas.

Well Fergie said no one else will arrive and panic buying is inadvisable at any rate. I have a feeling that he wouldn't be here now if we managed to get Lucas Moura though.

There's something fishy going on with Nani and I hate it that we still haven't sorted the contract issue.

Be interesting how this team shapes up.

Briggs is the youngest player ever to play in the Premier League. Had some barren years with loans and injuries ever since though. Valencia should have a bit of joy.

I'm glad RVP is getting played as a lone striker with Kagawa in the team, hopefully Kagawa is playing behind him rather than out wide, Kagawa looks like just the guy we needed to create chances for our strikers through the middle, and since Rooney is hell bent on coming deep to receive the ball it just didn't work too well against Everton. RVP knows just what to do to work well with players like Kagawa, as does Welbeck to an extent IMO. RVP should get plenty of chances today, I just pray Kagawa isn't out wide.

Funny thing is if Nani was on the bench and Chicha wasn't there'd be comments of "worrying that Chicha isn't even making the bench"

Good that Rooney is benched.Sometimes you need that kick up the backside.

Not quite the same thing though: we have three strikers on the bench, one of them is surely redundant... If Young, Valencia and Nani were all on the bench with Hernández totally left out then I guess we'd see the same type of comments.

Nah, we've got plenty of strikers so he would just have no space. We have no wingers on the bench though.

Even though he was awful, I would've preferred Rooney starting as I want him to get an understanding with Kagawa and RVP as quickly as possible and he's not going to do that from the bench.

Strong bench but no Nani at all is a surprise.

I anticipate we'll go 4-2-3-1 and that Wayne will be introduced for Young if Young is as ineffective as he was on Monday night. Rooney was pretty average on Monday to say the least but Young did little after coming on either. All this talk about 3 strikers on the bench but I actually think Rooney is being looked at as a deep forward this season rather than the man up top. I can see him getting a lot of games this season in the Villa/Pedro wide forward role cos Shinji is a star in that attacking midfield role.

I actually fancy this to galvanise Rooney, he'll come off the bench and score. Either a 2-1 win or a 3 or 4-0 win for us I reckon.

I do like that team, but Fergie is being such a tease and waiting for the right moment to see how Rooney & van Persie work together. It is annoying to fit Kagawa in too, but I honestly think he should play on the wing sometimes, which at the moment seems like something Fergie is reluctant to do.

Evans on bench? If he's fit enough to have in reserve, I'd have thought he could stick him in at home against Fulham. Big chance for Ando. That midfield should suit him nicely.

Giggs, Rooney, Welbeck would probably all get played out wide with our current setup or even Kagawa moving out wide with Rooney coming in behind RVP. It's not like we don't have any wing options on the bench today.

The problem is that Rooney lacks vital attributes to play in a wide forward role. Hes not very good at making the kind of diagonal runs in behind the defence that is typical for a wide forward a la Pedro, and his ability to cut in and take on his defender from the wing isnt excellent either.

I think its unlikely that Rooney will be dropped for any prolonged period of time, but if today's starting lineup works out very well offensively, which its possible that it will, it will be hard to fit in ROoney properly.

Anyone else's Bloodzeed just showing a blank screen at the moment?

Well let's just say it's hard to see Welbeck being preferred as an impact player out wide ahead of Nani for pure tactical reasons.

fecking hell, that midfield of cleverley, ando and kagawa is droolworthy. Expect fast flowing, one touch football through the middle.

Its going to be like the early midfields of last season. Very good offensively but lacking defensively. It could be an issue with Carrick as one of our CBs.. he really should have some form of cover ahead of him.

But as its Fulham at home, a team that normally is a pushover for us, its not too much of a gamble and a good tie to test out a more offensive lineup.
