Moyes desperately needs a win here, but I'd rather see us go out and attack. Nani, Kagawa and Janujaz need to prove that Moyes can't afford to leave them out any more.

I agree, you need to get Nani and Hernandez on if RVP is unfit, if RVP is fit then play him, he needs goals! Rest Rooney if you feel you need to, but remember hes been your only player to emerge with any credit out of the past few weeks, so dont be too hasty.

Kagawa as well should play, not sure whether you want to be playing Anderson though, think you should probably persist with Fellani for this one.

I don't have any doubts that Kagawa will play. On Anderson, I would like to see him play over Fellaini, not because he should be above him but there is no reason to play Fellaini, we need points in the league now and if Fellaini is in Moyes' starting plans, he needs to be fully ready for Saturday.

Yeah, but Wednesday could be very important. It's at home vs another big rival, just because it's not in the league doesn't mean it does not affect the players in the league, and Anderson is a bit of a liability at times. I know Fellani wasn't great on Sunday, but he is the player most likely to be played in Moyes' teams.

I accept the point about this being maybe a little more than a just a league cup match and I tend to agree. But I think our "poor" start has placed far more emphasis on the league. I do know that if we lose this, even more pressure will be placed on Moyes so I will have no issues if he does go with a strong side, in my opinion though, Liverpool will rotate as well, so we have a real chance to use the squad.

Cup. Tied.

A strong cup game can certainly give us a boot. Loved that game where we destroyed Arsenal 4-0, Anderson and Nani were exceptional that day.

Agreed but I think the FA Cup will always have a lot more importance, both teams went with strong teams that day.

Play Nani, Kagawa, Evans and Hernandez. Those need games pronto and are all good players. Would be nice to give Januzaj some playing time as well.

The most bizarre thing about the City game was that Danny Welbeck kind of played his all over the place floating role. That City game just cried out for Rooney to be deep and for Welbeck to basically ride their line and stay forward wherever possible. Instead everyone was kind of all over the place.

If RVP is out (and in general should be resting this game anyway imo) then please just select Rooney behind a forward and stay that way. Hernandez or Welbeck just stay rigid and on the backline!

I'd like to see that. Chich desperately needs a game. I'd like to see Kagawa but I won't hold my breath on that front.

Edit: Forgot about Januzaj. I'll put him in.

I would like to see that but Evans in for Vidic. We have the league on Saturday, no point risking him in the cup when we have adequate cover who needs games.

Also, maybe Anderson in for Carrick, or dare I say it Giggs. This is the type of games we should be wanting Giggs in. A game where there will be a few youngsters in the team and resting a few other players. He is part of a squad and these are the types of games I don't mind seeing him play.

Just play Kagawa, Hernandez, and Nani please. Give them some much needed game time.

Although it's only the COC, it's a big chance for Moyes to get a monkey off his back in terms of beating a big rival.

Would you accomodate Januzaj instead of Kagawa? Kagawa is more proven and his favoured position is as number ten. I would rather see this:

DDG

Rafael Smalling Evans Fabio

Cleverley Anderson

Nani Kagawa Januzaj
Hernandez

We will probably be slightly exposed at the back, but there is so much pace and energy in that team that our defense can allow to sit quite a bit higher. Sturridge vs Smalling in a run doesn't scare me one bit and the twins have shown they can defend as well as go forward. Januzaj is left footed (?) so having a right footed Fabio there should be of no concern. I might consider Nani for Januzaj and have Zaha on the right, but Januzaj looked very impressive.

If Young plays or is replaced by Giggs I won't even bother.
To be fair, I think this is the type of games we should be looking for Giggs to play in. Let the regulars get a rest and use his experience while using the youngsters.

One of Kagawa, Nani, Zaha, Januzaj isn't going to play - unless he plays Kagawa in a central midfield, but then Cleverley, Anderson and Giggs will also be in for a shout there.

I can't decide who isn't going to feature, or even who I'd want to not feature. Nani and Kagawa need game time, they need it - they have to play for me.. but these games are the ones you should be playing your young talent, and it's a shame that one of Januzaj or Zaha is going to miss out.

But then, after all the talk about giving youngsters a chance, about the United way.. the fact they both impressed on tour - surely he has to play both....

Subs: Lindegaard, Smalling, Jones, Anderson, Carrick, Rooney & Welbeck (If RVP isn't fit) - Be nice to see Carrick rested.

I can't be bothered anymore. My interest in United has somewhat stalled this season (not only to do with Moyes). I'll not be able to watch every game and got shit lot of work to do. I'm not going to watch a team that I don't want to see playing. And playing Giggs and Young constantly depsite their horrendous performances as of late just makes me furious. I'm not gonna do that to myself. Same goes for Valencia btw.

If you read my post properly you will understand what I am getting at. Forget recent performances, when the fixtures came out at the start of the season and Giggs was a part of the squad, these are the types of games you would assume would be best for him and the team. A game where regular players can be rested and young players can be given a shot. He is neither, so why not use his experience and let both the players being rested and the young ones benefit from his place in the squad.

I don't care if a team full of Bebe's were out there, I would watch United regardless. They are my club, the names on the back of the shirt don't cross my mind when they get out on the pitch, I just want them to win. Can't think of a fan who wouldn't watch their team because they are not happy with the players. We have been blessed over the years, now we are going through a little rough patch and we are going to turn the TV off until we return to the glory days. Some fan.

I don't think any game is made for him anymore tbh. He probably should have called it a day last year. And for me it's not about losing or winning anymore. It's about time and feelings.
For me it's hard to find time to watch United atm and when I see the likes of Young or Val getting starts week in week out no matter the performances it's a bit sickening. I want to enjoy watching United, and normally I can regardless of the result. I can't know though, so I'm not going to pretend I can. Sad thing is that even seeing a legend like Giggs in the starting line-up gives me that feeling. It's plaing wrong but it really is that.

Play Kagawa, Nani and maybe Henrnandez for a change and I'll be over the moon.

BTW I agree with you that a really supporter should support the team no matter the players that are in. I can't count myself in this season though as I'll find it hard to watch United week in week out.

I bet Young will.start.

I actually would think about starting him - after making it clear that he hasn't been anywhere near good enough for the standard required, and has only managed to bring negativity to the club through his recent actions, then I'd explain to him that he really needs to put in a good performance here if he expects to feature in the league again. But that's just me, I don't think Moyes will start him with a league game on Saturday.

I hate that we can't put out a more mixed team in this competition because of the opposition, but if we get through then hopefully we'll get a sensible draw in the next round so we can play more kids (though my money would be on us drawing City, or maybe Chelsea in the next round should we be there).

The defence is actually an interesting question, since I'd like Vidic and Evans to get a run together in the league matches. I guess it would come down to Vida's fitness, if he can play this game as well or if he'd benefit more from a rest - Smalling needs games at centre-back, but with Sturridge and the cannibal to contend with, there's a real danger if we mix it up a little too much. Carrick needs to play we don't have another option there to rest him, and Januzaj would obviously be first off the bench here for when Young inevitably fails to impress, with a view to Adnan maybe starting against WBA.

This is going to be a very interesting team selection, on the one hand our apparent "squad players" desperately need minutes, but on the other hand the knives are stupidly being sharpened for Moyes. Hopefully he feels secure enough with that six year contract to take a risk and give some minutes to Nani, Kagawa, Evans, Fabio/Rafael, Hernandez and Januzaj.

Prepare for the mother of all shit storms if we lose this....It'll be colossal!!

I think we'll win anyways

The worrying thing is, Liverpool will also be looking to bounce back from a home defeat, so this will be far from easy.

Whatever way you look at it, it's been a nightmare start fixture wise. A 4-1 defeat to City followed by a heated battle with these shower of cnuts isn't ideal. Hopefully we can bounce back in style though.

Not sure about starting lineups but I want to see Kagawa, Nani, Zaha, Janujaz and Hernandez all getting some minutes please.
