Manchester United vs Newcastle United

I thought we were OK but just annoyed we didn't play more first teamers. Also got absolutely no idea why we prefer the percentage diagonal ball into the box rather than trying to manufacture decent crossing positions (like the errr, goal).

didnt see the match. did any of the young lads look like they could fill a gap back there for a bit?

Bit hard to judge. They were bullied by Cissé and struggled against aerial balls in general but they might do better in a more organised, experienced backline.

If you'd played 2 up front all game it wouldnt have been so comfortable for the defence.

What on Earth is Pardew on about? Ref gave us nothing? Played as well as them, deserved more than we got?

Was he watching the same game as me?

Pardew talking a load of shit. You don't like the ref? why don't you assault him?

To be fair, he did also say he was wrong about it and apologised to the Ref.

And whilst I'd disagree that they were as good as us, for a predominantly second string side, as an away team at OT, they did alright.

That's amazing - commentator just said about Tunnicliffe's dad putting £100 on him playing for United one day...when he was 9 years old!

And he's set to earn £10k because of that!!! (I actually think those odds are nowhere near long enough, but hey!)

Not half as good a tale but my uncle told me and my dad that Cleverly would end up playing for United one day, this was when he was still at Bradford City as a nipper. Unfortunately he didn't bet on it.

Lots of good performances tonight, plenty to be happy about

Wasn't there some story about WIishere's father betting on him playing for England before he hit 20, or was I dreaming it all up?

My view on the game:

RB and CB's were pretty bad, were getting bullied all game long by NUFC's powerful forwards and struggled on crosses especially when Cisse came on.

Ando looked good but at about 75 mins he was blowing bubbles, needs to work on his stamina. Fletch looked rusty at times (a few miss placed passes and caught in possession) but was very encouraging to see him back. Cleverly looked good so did Powell at times.

Rooney was bloody brilliant. Some of his passes were Scholes-esq, Welbeck again played very well and Hernandez looked more involved in the game than the Wigan game.

We really lacked width during the game which I think partially due to our Fullbacks, since we weren't playing out and out wingers they should have been bombing on and helping out more.
