Manchester United vs. Portsmouth

Good idea but she knows I want to watch it, we were talking about the trip and I suddenly realized we would be leaving way before kick off and went 'oh shit', and she knew there was something so I just gotta hope the gods are on my side

Well I guess there is one rational solution to your problem, dump her haha. Luckily I just leave bed to go watch United games as I am in the US, so my little lady has no problem with it

I concurr entirely. What kind of sissy lets himself get run over by his girlfriend like that.. I had to break in to a closed restaurant and watch the game at their television in Vang Vieng, Laos. Me and four rats were the only ones there. I would be in a world of pain if I missed a game. But then again some 'supporters' aren't sharing my passion for United.

I'm in Pai, Thailand and have to find a place that is showing the game at 19.45. Will surely be no problem.

Long time no see good luck in seeing the game

we will kill the bastards and shut that bell-ringing cnut up while we are at it...5-0...bring them the feck on!!!

Pompey are going through their usual end of season transition. They look as though they are stumbling over the line. Defoe has been a good signing for them and has scored (as expected) but they seem to be lacking goals elsewhere on the field.

I see this as a pretty easy victory in all honesty.

Veteran duo back for Cup clash

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs are both likely starters for United's FA Cup quarter-final clash with Portsmouth on Saturday lunchtime.

Despite a sublime display in the Reds' win at Fulham last weekend, Scholes found himself on the bench for the Champions League victory over Lyon. Sir Alex admitted it was a tough decision to leave out the midfielder and insisted he will be back in action for the Cup clash.

Giggs is fit again after a calf injury ruled him out of United's last two matches and looks set to return to the starting eleven against Pomey.

Meanwhile, Gary Neville and Mikael Silvestre are both continuing to make good progress with their recovery from long term ankle and knee injuries respectively.

not really they'll come and play five across the middle here, with Krjackjar or whatever the feck he's called off Kanu. Play Scholes and Anderson and we'd be in trouble. Carrick and Scholes with Rooney off Saha would be better

i'm glad he's cup tied tomorrow

Personally I think we'll see Ronnie and Tevez start with Roo on the bench, then he and Saha swapping up with them around the 60th minute, as long as we are in the lead.(Won't be an issue at all IMO!) I think it'll end up around 3-0 with it possibly being a little worse.

Brown--Ferdinand--Vidic--O'Shea
Park----Scholes---Carrick--Giggs
---------Ronnie---Tevez--------

I sure hope we don't get Mark Clattenburg as our referee. I was researching trying to figure out who we'd have officiating tomorrow's match and noticed that he's been the referee in 4 matches of ours this season. Those matches were at Pompey(PL), at Shitty(PL), at Bolton(PL) and at Tottenham(PL). We lost three of those and was a Tevez late goal away from losing there. I really hope we don't get him tomorrow or TBH for the rest of the season.

We didn't lose against Pompey did we? Was a draw i believe.

6:15 coach tomorrow - so off to bed soon.

With Scholes back who'll be with him? Hargreaves or Anderson I reckon.

4-4-2

Ronnie on one wing & prob Giggs on the other (Nani/Park options).

Rooney upfront with Tevez/Saha - I wonder if maybe the latter?

Hope we keep the ball better than the 2nd half against Lyon.

The ingredients are certainly there for United to draw this game:

- Probably play a weakened team
- early afternoon kickoff
- after a big CL game
- playing a decent team whose interest in this season probably depends on this

The main thing balancing all that out is that Defoe is missing. He's a big loss for Pompey. Also we can have a completely different midfield from the Lyon game so tiredness should not be quite such an issue.

I'll probably back United to win by the odd goal, but going to a replay would not surprise me.

Please god no. Carrick or Hargreaves along side Scholes is a must. Not even having one of them on the bench is suicidal. Would you plan on putting O'Shea in centre mid if one of them picks up an injury, or if we want to shore up the defence. Portsmouth have a strong, defensively capable centre midfield, and Krancjar has some freedom to roam behind the strikers. We need someone more defensively minded in the middle.

Wasnt that one Bennett? I seem to remember him sending off Ronaldo...

You were right his last four against have been losses and one was Pompey but, it was from last season in April(2-1 loss at Pompey). So to recap his last four that he's officiated of ours(3 this season/1 last season) have been down matches for us.

As far as Bennett concerned, he's officiated 3 matches this year for us. The draw at Pompey and wins at Reading(2-0) and at Birmingham(1-0), so I guess thats better. We should still dominate them, especially with Defoe being cuptied.

No sense in fielding a weakened side, imo--next two opponents are Derby and Bolton, which'll allow for plenty of rotation before we twat the Scousers Easter weekend:

van der Sar

O'Shea - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra

Ronaldo - Scholes - Carrick - Giggs

Saha - Rooney

subs: PIG, Brown, Hargreaves, Park, Tevez

How's about another 3-0 victory? Yeah...I like that.

Better not, we don't need anther fixture pile-up and our record at fratton park is awful. Anyway, I don't see Pompey troubling us today.

I'm leaving for my exam now. :nervous:

I'll be with the game somewhere in my mind though.

COME ON UNITED !

United need strength in midfield against Portsmouth. A midfield of Carrick, Scholes and one of Fletcher or Hargreaves methinks.

Quality morning, just woke up. Where are the line-ups?

Surely there must be some site that provides official line-ups?
