Manchester United VS Reading

Saha rested for 2 games in a row?

Ole needs a run of games, Louis needed a rest, was lookin jaded in the last few games before Wigan.

He's rested for Newcastle away, which probably will be a tricky one.

I think we might have underestimated Reading with that line up. :(

You are joking right? It's our strongest available lineup apart from Fletcher, Giggs and Saha

Have you ever been optimistic before United's game when any of our first team player was missing?

both Giggs and Saha needs to rest, good to see Fergie play Ole and Park again.

They are a very good side, and I hope Fergies decision wont backfire.

I agree, i was fearing the worst when i heard SAF pre match press conference had visions of no Ronaldo or Park with Fletcher and Richardson on the wings

I think we'll win this game without much fuss with that team, hope Ole scores again

You said similar against Wigan.

We've got Newcastle away in 48 hours. He was bound to rest a couple of players, Giggs and Saha are probably the two most likely as well.

We'll have Vidic, Evra, Scholes, Giggs, Saha and Fletcher all fresh for Newcastle, that could be the difference. Ronaldo and Rooney are young enough to be able to cope with 2 games in a short space of time. I think Fergie has played this just right.

Glad that Carrick is back. Can't wait to see him in action, really good player. And I think it's a good decision from Fergie to also rest Evra today after two games in a row for him after the injury he got against Benfica.

I agree again, a fresh Giggs and Saha could really be the difference against a Newcastle team that dont have the squad to rotate like we do add to that like you said Vidic, Evra and maybe even Gaz Nev then i think SAF has got this spot on

O'Shea and Carrick has never played well together...

Is Fletcher definately injured then?

Thats my only gripe with the team, I'm not to fond of the Carrick, O'Shea partnership as neither likes to get forward or quickly close down play. Both better at sitting in front of the defence.

Hope we can win this game quick, and then take Rooney off to rest. If we struggling, we have good players on the bench, Giggs, Saha, Evra.

O'Shea never plays well with anyone, we just have to hope the rest of the team play well enough that it doesn't matter. This is a big chance for Carrick to step up and be the main man.

Fletcher is on the bench ;)

VDS

Brown
Ferdinand
Silvestre
Henzie

Park
Carrick
O'Shea
Ronaldo

Rooney
Solskjaer

Subs: Kuszczak, Fletcher, Giggs, Richardson, Saha

MUTV have Fletcher down as sub and not Evra.

If thats the case, why's he not playing over O'Shea.

I'd have played Fletch instead of O'Shea though. Still a good line-up with quality options on the bench if we're not scoring

Because SAF rates O'Shea unlike you.

I don't mind O'Shea as long as he's paired with an attacking central midfielder like Scholes or Giggs last season.

Carrick and O'Shea just doesn't go.

Carrick will become more offensive and make runs as well as passes, leaving O'S*ea to mop up at the back. Fletch is a bit too attacking for that and has a point to prove..
Fletch's workrate is excellent and can do a good job in midfield, better than O'Shea. Fletch and Carrick (who does a lot of defensive work with Scholes anyway) are both good defensively, while Fletch provides much more going forward than O'Shea

O'Shea is appearing for the 150th time for united. Congratulations to him.

I'll stick my neck out and say he will appear in most peoples MOM selections.

Exactly.

Better passer, more work to break Reading's play down and better going forward as well.

I just have memories of the Copenhagen game away where neither Carrick or O'Shea looked like they wanted to take the initiative.

I look forward to hearing his Heysel jibes.
Lol.
I think that Carrick's attacking ability is played down when he partners with Ninjaman. His defensive positioning is so good that I think SAF reckons that bringing in O'Shhh will give him more licence to get forward. Fletch defends well and has good stamina but is looking to get forward which could leave us short (with Tweety at Centre Back..) against Lita and co.

Let's get it straight, Reading are a mid-table side, as good as Wigan for example. They aren't world beaters, they aren't as good as Newcastle, Bolton or Portsmouth for example, they are just ambitious and consistently get results against weaker opposition, occasionally giving some problems to better sides (like us or Chelsea).

They were lucky to draw at Stamford, and scored only one goal actually, the second was a gift from Chelsea.

That team should be enough to beat them at Old Trafford.

How come we didnt beat them at the madejski earlier this season then?

Too much overconfidence mate, I think we will win but it wont be a easy ride.
