Manchester United vs Real Madrid

Pep Guardinia is the better manager for us then Mourinio, according to the baldy chap on Sky Sports

The difference is we're now playing at home, where one or two tiny mistakes can make the difference (away goals). I was quite relaxed watching the away leg, knowing we can score the (hopefully crucial) away goal. Ah, it doesn't make any sense, you're right... we will go through.

No. This is spot on.

Like FEG said, I'm a ray of sunshine today

I'd go with Nani over Valencia for tonight. One looked as good as any single performance from our wingers all season in his last match, the other still looked a shadow of his former self.

Yep. I don't want us to cower through this match - if we genuinely believe we're a big enough European team to have a go for the trophy, then we should be trying to play attacking football at home, at least to some extent. Even against Madrid.

Whilst Valencia was decent against Norwich, better than he has been for a while, Nani is still in the better form. If you want to actually attack down the wing, he's the only choice.

This is our record at Old Trafford since 2007, for knockout matches. Make of it what you will...

Lille 1-0
Roma 7-1
Milan 3-2
Lyon 1-0
Roma 1-0
Barcelona 1-0
Inter 2-0
Porto 2-2
Arsenal 1-0
Milan 4-0
Bayen 3-2
Marseille 2-1
Chelsea 2-1
Schalke 4-1

I'm quietly confident.

I hope we go 4-3-3. Kagawa in CM with Cleverley to help keep possession with Rooney and Nani in the wide-forward roles. Both have the pace/energy to hit them on the counter attack and by playing Kagawa and Cleverley we should be able to keep possession better than we did at times in Madrid.

Although, I expect a 4-4-1-1 with Welbeck starting.

Obviously in 07 it was a very different team so not sure if it hold's much weight for me, but still a nice record :)

200 Million expected to tune into today's Footballing Christmas Match. Amazing to ponder the level of pressure these players are able to shrug off and perform on such a grand stage.

Valencia has played RB before and might be a better option to track back and help Rafael if Ronaldo is giving him a hard time.

:nervous:

I can see the same score tonight, which wouldn't be good for us.

Pressure? This is what they live for.

Sometimes I forget just how big we are as a club. That video doesn't make me forget. It's on!

Two giant football clubs, a knockout match at Old Trafford, the ancient ground of Manchester United. The world's two greatest active managers, one the son of Govan. A full compliment of footballers on both sides, several of whom are among the greatest of their generation.

A fully packed house, fans starting to trickle in just a few hours, with another 600 million or so watching around the world.

We happy few :), here on the caf.

not sure i agree. SAF should instruct his team to play in a manner that gives us victory. anything else is a huge bonus.

A fine trade-off between losing nerves and the ability to watch a game.

Savor the moment with your eyes fully wide open and your heart and mind ready to take it all in. This is what we live for, mates.

Are you streaming in in the usual way?

I managed to rope myself into playing a gig and i cant back out now..

might have it on my amp as im playing lol

Some third party android app. Hasn't failed yet

On your phone? A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. Well done!

:D

I'd just leave the office at 2:30, but that wouldn't fly.

Wouldn't fancy picking the team tonight.

Keeper, fullbacks, Ferdinand, Carrick, Rooney and VP are all nailed on but lots of questions elsewere.

Evans or Vidic?
Nani or Valencia?
Welbeck or Kagawa?
Cleverley, Anderson or Giggs?
Do Young or Hernandez get a look in?

Be very interesting decisions.

Madrid are apparently upset because they will be wearing their green kits because we're refusing to wear black shorts.

I'd love to see Nani be given a go in this game although honestly due to the fact that Kagawa scored a hat-trick and should be in great form, coupled with Welbeck scoring and generaly having a great game against Real I think those are 2 we'll be seeing on the wings (atleast to start with).

Nani will be subbed in if we have to score probably and Valencia if we need to hold on.
Those are just my 2 cents. I fully expect Rooney & RvP as ST and CF with Carrick and Cleverley in midfield.

Evans
Nani v Valencia will really show Fergies intent
Welbeck
looks like it'll be Giggs
No

Keeps Real guessing though, although I'm sure they'd say they don't really care who they're against as they have a match plan in place.

my eyes will be open but not fully, and my mind will also be focused but not fully, for I am getting hammered for this game while still being sober enough to watch it and enjoy :D
