Vaguely remember Giggsy saying he promised everyone a game (out of the last 4)?
I think we could see him ring the changes.

Wouldn't mind Welbeck up top with Mata behind and RvP second half. I'd love us to help send them down :)

My dream scenario is Sunderland going down with Norwich and Fulham, while Ole pulls an almighty escape with wins against a terrible Newcastle team and an already checked out Chelsea team.

Yeah that's what I'm hoping for too. Really hope Ole pulls it off but it looks so unlikely. As long as we do our bit!

rooney out? with nothing to play giggs is never going to risk him.

----------------------de gea-----------------------------
jones--------smalling-----------evans-------------evra
valencia------carrick-----------fletcher---------kagawa
----------------------mata---------------------------
--------------------hernandez-------------------------

with januzaj, van persie coming on in the second half. hope of seeing maybe wilson on the bench as well, if possible.

I'd like Hernandez to get a shot while Rooney's out. Him with Mata, Kagawa and Januzaj all behind him could create a few goals. His movement is perfect for players with their passing and vision.

DDG
Jones Vidic Evans Evra
Carrick Fletcher
Januzaj Mata Welbeck
Hernandez

Went with Welbeck over Kagawa for the sake of pace and directness, but either is good. Wilson on the bench please.

This, even though I wanted Smalling in for Vidic .

De Gea

Jones --- Smalling --- Vidic --- Evra

Carrick --- Cleverley

Januzaj --- Mata --- Welbeck

Hernandez
Have RVP/Rooney on the bench and come on for the last 30 minutes or so. I've put Cleverley in just give him another chance in our more counter-attacking system. Maybe bring on Kagawa for Welbeck/Mata at some stage in the game.

Oh God we so need to send this lot back down. Would love to see Poyet and Bridcutt back at the AMEX next season for a bit of...erm..."banter".

Don't think Rooney will be involved at all. Maybe on the bench.

DDG
Jones Smalling Vidic Evra
Fletcher Carrick
Januzaj Mata Kagawa
Welbeck (RVP subbed second half)

Would love to see us pressing a lot and using this team:
--------------DDG
Rafael-Smalling-Jones---Evra
------------Fletcher
------Kagawa-------Mata
Nani-------Chicarito-----Januzaj

Realistically expect a 4-4-1-1 with Valencia/Young/Januzaj out wide. Mata centrally and RVP up front or maybe RVP as an AM and Chicarito up front.

Welbeck/Hernandez
I reckon we'll get a scrappy 2-0 victory from this, Mata and Hernandez with the goals.

Rooney would have fetched me a lot of point in fpl due to double game week. Not entirely sure if Welbeck or Hernandez will start both games, so it makes this week harder to predict. Nevertheless fpl aside, against Sunderland I want to see us continue the same mentality of being aggresive in the attack.

De Gea
Jones - Smailling - Evans - Evra
Carrick
Mata - Kagawa
Valencia - Hernandez - Welbeck

Subs: lindergaard, Ferdinand, Cleverly, Fletcher, Januzaj, Nani, Wilson/Van Persie

I would like us to try something new and play with a midfield three of Kagawa, Mata and Carrick. With Valencia tucking in at times to give it more solidarity

A 4-1-4-1 will not work for me. We were 0-3 up vs a terrible Newcastle side. Sunderland have shown what they can do vs the better sides.

De Gea
Jones--Smalling--Evans--Evra
Carrick--Fletcher
Kagawa/Valencia--Mata--Januzaj
Welbeck

Subs: Lindegaard, Ferdinand, Vidic, Fellaini, Valencia, Hernandez, RvP

That's what I want but I know for certain it won't be that. Giggs will want some natural width.

I'd give Nani and Hernandez a run out. Even Adnan, Evans & Fellaini have been due a game.

De Gea
Jones Evans Vidic Evra
Carrick Fellaini
Nani Mata Januzaz
Hernandez

That warm weather break did Rooney the world of good, didn't it? Hope he doesn't play as he's truly awful when not fully fit.

This if both RVP and Rooney is out. Rafael in and Jones for Evans if he is fit.

Giggs will play Welbeck and Valencia, we all know it.

DDG
Rafael (fit?), Smalling, Jones, Evra
Fellaini
Nani, Kagawa, Mata, Januzaj
Welbeck

Plenty of options for width and but, also be able to play quicker passing through the middle with a lot of interchange.

Wilson on the bench, less than twenty-four hours after playing Liverpool for the U21's? Great recovery time.

Yeah, I didn't really think that one through! Especially as he was already basically playing through injury tonight. Village idiot stuff.

No Rooney.

So

Jones Smalling/Evans Vidic Evra
Carrick Cleverley
Welbeck Mata Kagawa
Hernandez

I would like to see Januzaj instead of Kagawa though.

Looking forward to this. No idea why really. Just have an interest in who Giggs will pick, and how me do in our 2nd game after Moyes.

Id like to see:

---------De Gea--------
Jones Smalling Evans Evra
-----Carrick Fellaini----
Nani -----Mata ----Januzaj
--------Hernandez-----

Giggs will probably start Valencia on the right and Cleverley in midfield maybe even Kagawa on the left again.

RvP should be on the bench, it would be nice to get him off the bench in the second half.

----------------De Gea
Jones----Smalling---Evans---Evra
------Carrick-----Fletcher------
Mata----------------------Januzaj
------Welbeck------Hernandez---

I'd be OK with that, Welbeck dropping back from time to time to help out. I'd probably swap Jones for Rafael if he's fit.

This won't be the walk in the park some people seem to think it will be, remember they drew away to City and beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge - no mean feat. They're fighting for their lives and will contest everything, unlike Norwich last week who just capitulated.

Can't think of anything worse than Fellaini as a lone CM. He's positionally poor so imagine him without someone next to him to cover when he decides not to bother tracking his man.

Tom Cleverley.

Wasn't that hard.

---------De Gea--------
Varela Smalling Evans Evra
------Jones Fellaini----
Nani ----Kagawa----Januzaj
--------Hernandez-----

Hernandez is the only forward who seems to want to put in the effort of finding space & giving defenders something to panic about - I'd like to see him appreciated.

Jones is a liability at the moment at CB, so lets see if he & Fellaini can offer anything in midfield.

Kagawa ahead of Mata in the hole, as we'll need a third man in midfield at times & Kagawa will do this better - Mata can get 20min to show his silky skills once Sunderland are down a couple of goals (I hope).

If Rafael is still injured then lets have a look at Moyes first purchase.

Nani plays because he cannot be as poor as he was at Everton - PLEASE, show us some of the old flair

Bit harsh that, he clearly had instructions from Moyes to get up at every opportunity. He's clearly more disciplined than he's shown under Moyes

I'd like to see Mata behind Welbeck today. I'm not sure why but i'm not bothered about Hernandez getting a running now, maybe i'm just resigned to him leaving.

So we reckon Rooney is definitely out for this?

I needed him or my final FF push

I think so personally. It makes no sense to risk him so close to the world cup. Especially with RVP coming back.

I'm going Wayne > Wickham in my team.

De Gea
Rafael* - Smalling - Evans - Evra
Carrick - Fletcher
Januzaj - Mata - Kagawa
Welbeck

Something like this please, Ryan.

Sexy.

Although possibly a little low on directness, which was our problem against Everton and in the first half hour or so against Norwich. Maybe choose between Welbeck and Kagawa so Hernandez can play up front?

Hmm, it's definitely a possibility. Although, the game against Newcastle, didn't we play a quartet of;
Young (Januzaj 20 minutes in) - Mata - Kagawa
Hernandez
That worked pretty well. Hernandez (or Welbeck in this case) would definitely have the pace to split the defence and cause issues for the Sunderland back four. I think a higher attacking intelligence and a great tandem between Mata and Kagawa would be worth sacrificing one of the spots out wide for a little more directness. Giggs may not agree, being a winger himself he's clearly a man who loves the pace and width.

Yeah, that Newcastle set-up had the right balance for me. You could play Welbeck up top, but Giggs would have to be very clear with him about staying in the striker mindset, the way he plays in the big CL ties. He needs to be direct, look to get in the box and score, and not be too distracted by getting involved in all the build-up. Because Mata, Kagawa and Januzaj are more than enough to handle the playmaking side of things.
