Manchester United vs. Sunderland

Our best player left out entirely, how smart is that? I suppose we'll find out in a few hours, but I'd rather have him available on the bench incase.

He's 35, played a full match Tuesday, and as a sub last Saturday.

People here will find anything to complain about. That's a great line up, it's Sunderland at home for feck sake.

we have MORE than enough quality to see off Sunderland quite easily.

Berba is in form
Rooney is playing well
Nani would want to impress
Scholes can carry on from his masterclass against Stoke
Fletcher has gained massive consistency in his game
Welbeck will want to impress.

Don't be such a tit.
Oh the irony

He has made our last 7 goals and has been used sparingly so far, I'd like to have him on the bench in case we're struggling. Who do we have on the bench that can score or create us a goal if we need them to come on and do so with 20 minutes to go?

I agree, I'm not asking to start him, but the bench doesn't have a lot of goals in it.

I would have liked to see Macheda on the bench. Happy Welbeck's starting though.

welbeck ahead of valentia/park/tosic...

sunderland will tear us apart ..... again

The irony? How exactly?

Do you REALLY think SAF would leave Giggs off the bench unless he was in need of a rest? The way you're talking, SAF just left him out for no reason at all, and should have included him.

Good team that. Surprised to see Welbeck in the starting line-up as well(though expected him to feature as a sub).

Hope we play some nice fluid football. About 1/2 hour to go.

I was pretty confident before I read these comments, now I understand...

WE'RE DOOOOOOOOOMED!!!!

Who will score the goals?!

Welbeck out wide...we're really struggling for a 2nd winger.

Struggling?

We're giving an exciting young prospect who's very comfortable on the wing a run out, it's not like we don't have any wingers left, we have Park, Valencia and Giggs who can all do a very good job besides the two wingers here.

I thought he would be involved off the bench in at least a couple of games before starting. Sunderland are a good team, not some relegation battlers.

So? We have enough players on the pitch to be able to defeat Sunderland. Rooney and Berbatov are still playing. Fletcher and Scholes should take them apart. Welbeck is a good player and he deserves a chance after a good League Cup showing. Have more faith!

Because you're calling someone on the Internet a tit because they questioned a team leaving their best player out of the squad completely. What a bizarre thing to suggest

I like the starting line-up, but there's no real attacking threat off the bench. Would've preferred Macheda to be on there somewhere. Welbeck's an interesting choice on the wing, and I'm looking forward to seeing him.

Interesting to see Rio on the bench. Wonder if he's got a small knock, just getting rested or if it's a sign that Evans is going to be rotated in quite a lot even when the big two are fit. Fergie did say just the other day that he almost feels he's being unfair on Jonny as his performances deserve a starting spot.
