Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur

4-2 thriller !! I hope Nani gets a little more time. Does anyone know if Gaz Neville or Saha have a chance of featuring in this game ?

If the BBC are to be believed, the Spurs team may well include one or two additions by the time this match rolls around, namely Gilberto at left back and Tiago in midfield.

I'd be especially pleased to see Gilberto since Bale is out injured for the next couple of months at least (and Ekotto still out also) and I recall that Bale did well at OT last time.

What's your opinion on those prospective signings then GS?
Would definitely be pleased with Gilberto, given Bale's long-term absence and also given that Lee is currently our only uninjured LB and he's not even left-footed!

Gilberto also plays in LM, which eventually will give us the option of a Bale-Gilberto combo (or vice-versa) down the left. Although knocking on a bit (31), he seems to be highly rated by H.Berlin fans. If he's good enough to play for Brazil then I guess he's not to be sneezed at. Not a long-term option for us it seems, given his age, but then again he's reckoned to be in great shape and some players continue playing well into their mid-thirties.

I don't know much about Tiago. Tbh I've rarely seen him play, although he did feature a fair bit for Chelsea a while back. At the very least it would provide other CM options for us and increase competition within the club for starting places.

I'd be interested in the opinions of others on Tiago.

Don't reallly rate Tiago that much, and for 9m, thats a bit too steep. supposed you are signing him to cover the absence of Zokora.

tiago would be a good signing for spurs. An upgrade on zokora and jenas for sure for you guys imo.

I'm gonna miss the game because i'm at work, but i sense a thrashing for Spurs.

5-0

Tiago over Jenas?? I hardly think so. He's made a career of being a squad player for top clubs (Chelsea, Lyon, Juventus...) maybe he will show his worth at Spurs with more first team chances.

The confidence and self belief of Spurs received a big boost after last night's result. With the Arsenal monkey (no win since 1999) now off our backs, a big psychological barrier has been broken I feel.

One amazing statistic: Ramos has not lost a single cup tie since his first year at Sevilla, back in 2005.

Your team are still favourites to go through, especially being the home team, but for a while at least Spurs will believe that, on their day, they are capable of beating anyone anywhere.

Could care less about how your side feel, to be honest if United put out a good side and are form, you will be dispatched from yet another competition this year, if not I could could care less if United win one of the big two preferrably both

they've got their confidence back after the Arse game. So I hope they're over-confident and think they'll win 4-0 against another top team

Berbatov at least seems to be up for it:

"Sometimes we underestimate our ability, but this [Arsenal] game was an example of what we can do when we believe in our quality and play like we did." ... It will be difficult for us at Manchester United but we hope to do the same as we did against Arsenal.

"We go there with our heads up and if we play like that they will have a difficult game."

Van der Sar
Brown Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Hargreaves
Ronaldo Anderson Giggs(Nani)
Rooney Tevez

We can't afford to field a lesser side this week. Also I think Hargreaves would be a good selection in front of our backs to slow their attack.

Glaston talking out of his ass again
Why? I simply said that, following the annihilation of Arsenal, "Spurs will believe that, on their day, they are capable of beating anyone anywhere".

In other words, a psychological barrier has been broken and the self-belief of the team will have enormously increased. That's undeniable.

It doesn't necessarily mean that we're going to win this weekend - and nor have I said that we will. It just means what I said - no more, no less.

Its unusual to see Arsenals midfield look so ordinary as they did on Tuesday. Having said that, we are a very different side to Arsenal and won't allow ourselves to get muscled out of the 50/50 balls.

Should be a great game though, i'm looking forward to this one.

All of the Tottenham players could play the best game of their life, the simple fact is if United players did as well they would still play your side of the pitch

Anderson doesnt play further forward than our wingers.

Hope to see a strong team out. I'd like to see Carrick start given his current form.

Got a great feeling about this. Then again, I always have a great feeling and most of the time I'm wrong.

4-1.

Spurs should've earnt atleast draw in the bpl match against us under jol, they look a better team under juande,so i can easily see a upset with king back in defence, ofcourse as usuall if its going to be cristiano ronaldo that has the last word to say nothing else matters !

Scholesy's back for this one!

Subs: Kuszczak, Scholes, Hargreaves, Giggs, Nani

Keane and Berbatov are a very good strike team.
I expect them to score against us.
I think it could be a thriller of a cup-tie, and end 3-1 or 4-2.
I just don't think their defence will be able to shut us down.
They bossed and harassed the Arse in mid-field.
They won't be so lucky this time around.
