Manchester United vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Giggs has played 10 passes. 1 more than Lindegaard, 2 more than RVP and thats your lot. Everyone else more involved

By the way he's 50% accurate with those...

Anderson needs to come on to insert some pace and energy into this game and he can hassle their midfielders.

Giggs is done. He's been done for a while now. He has the odd good performance but that doesn't change the fact that most of his games he does nothing effective.

He's a legend, but I wish he'd just retire so the team could move on.

SAF is to blame though. He keeps playing him in every big game...

As much as I love Giggs, but I agree.

Our attacking tactics for post-Ronaldo are kick it to the wing every time. It's so predictable and if the wingers off form it is horrific to watch.

This is no where near what we expect from a Fergie team. There's quality in the squad but some massive gaps. Wish we could have got Modric.

Well, that half was a bit of a surprise. 2 - 0 up and we deserve it.

However, we've been here before and things have gone pete tong for Spurs in the 2nd half, whether due to terrible ref. decisions or great attacking play from Man. Utd, or a combination of both.

We'll soon find out if history will repeat itself.

Will the old man have the bollocks to pull him off at half time? I hope so.

Let's see - Spurs have Dembele, Lennon, Bale and Dempsey. All great ball carriers with pace and movement.
So we pick the slowest most static midfield possible, you cant make this shit up.

Yeah, all of us and our pet dogs could see what was going to happen when that team was announced, didn't we..? Mind boggling.. :wenger:

Carrick has been our worst apart from Defense.

We need anderson on

Defense getting butchered because our midfield is slow tracking back. Carrick and Scholes jogging back every fecking time.

Honestly, I've been saying this for ruddy weeks now, Scholes should not be starting these games, its bad enough with Carrick in midfield (he's not the fastest). But both of them? It's footballing suicide.

This is what Liverpool should have done last week to us, Spurs are a bit more clinical today and are rightfully ahead by 2 goals. Ferguson fecked this up m'afraid, very poor team selection.

Kagawa would do well if he had support...he has no one to pass to and he gets closed down losing the ball. We have no fecking movement off the ball.

Kagawa wont succeed at this club if we insist on playing this way. He needs players to link up with and only Nani on the pitch is capable of an understanding with him.

Nani was mostly at fault for the first goal, but has been our best player so far. Please, for the love of god, don't let Giggs and Scholes play together, or at least limit it. Kagawa hasn't been in form for a couple of games now.

I suspect Rooney will come on around the 60tg minute mark in place of Kagawa.

So Newcastle away next. Ben Arfa, Jonas, Tiote, Cabaye, pace, strength and movement.
So Carrick, Scholes and Giggs again?

The sad think is that most of us dreaded the formation at Anfield and anticipated a bad display and it happened.Same thing, with the starting line-up and specially, most of us had the same dreaded feeling and yet again our fears are confirmed on the pitch :(

Giggs has to go off, I don't like saying it but it has to happen. Rooney to replace him and Kagawa to move outside.

Watch Bales goals...Scholes, Kagwa and Carrick 30 yards back jogging...

This is the future...pacy midfielders will just carve us wide open because of how soft, slow and old we are in the middle.

You've been better than us and deserve to be ahead, to be fair I underestimated you pre-season.

After the other results today and a midweek CL match on the horizon, I could see a result like this coming. We always suffer at least one weekend like this per season.

I know its a bit harsh on lindegaard, but its been some pretty dismal efforts to save the two shots on goal. He was nowhere near both and you have to think that De Gea could possibly have saved the bale shot. Lindegaard went down much too slow IMO.

Everyone could see this happening.

That midfield was too slow to cope with Spurs, who thrive on pace and counter-attacking.

Absolutely terrible team to match terrible tactics. Someone in the back room needs to be fired for the stupidity of this.

I think there is plenty to suggest and back up the idea that the days of Giggs as a starter in matches against quality opponents are over.
It was just last week that he was absolutely horrendous... What was SAF thinking of ?

I don't think he's done against EPL teams. But if Scholes is injured, and we need to rotate players in midfield, I'd still be happy to have Giggs to call on.

So he might end up getting a start against a good team because of rotation, but I'd keep his out of the big games if I could.

But if he was in central midfield his pace wouldn't be much of a problem, and he wouldn't be under nearly as much pressure. It would be building play from the back, he's still excellent at keeping the ball if he's not in tight spaces.
