Manchester United vs. Wigan Athletic

Fergie loves to rotate during the Christmas period, I remember he's done it a lot during the years in the home games and then go 100% against a difficult away side. This season Newcastle then.

Apologize for that "unchanged" line-up.

feckin' Twitter.

I'm not gonna do this anymore.

Wow. We're basically playing one defender, considering Patrice spends half of the game out of position

Hello dropped points!

He's banging the goals in for the reserves I believe, decent option from the bench.
Yep, but we have Rooney, Welbeck and Kiko on the bench.
Dont think Mame will come on if we are in desperate need of a goal.

Shows how bad the injuries are. He is there essentially to make the numbers up

If we were anywhere but at home I would worry.

We're actually been better away from home this year though.

Our next game is a full 5 days away and at home to Blackburn right?

Playing H2H online with that line-up now, see how it goes.

Gibbo will have a stormer (a decent game by the caf's standards)

Carrickbauer in defence. If we've got no other options then so be it. But it's disappointing to see him there since he's in such good form.

The team is a bit makeshift but they should get the job done. Fergie's gambles often work out for us so let's hope this is one of those times. Have some faith people.

It is a bit ridiculous to see two midfielders in defence when there are two defenders on the bench. I hope if a midfielder gets injured or sent off, a defender comes on.

Hope to be proved wrong obviously but this has 'frustration' written all over it.

Think we'll win but what should have been a stroll in the park and a chance to make a big dent in the goal difference will probably turn into a stagnated performance. More annoyed about the lack of Rooney and Welbeck that's worked so well more than anything.

Yep, so expect a lot of changes again against Rovers at home and then he goes best possible vs Newcastle, that's Fergie and he's the greatest at keeping players fresh and in their best form :D

oh and hope its Park RB and Val on the wing.

Valencia is brilliant at stretching the game and will be very useful at a huge ground like OT

the last time we had gibson and park in the middle we went out against crystal palace. just saying

Gibson was OK in that game though. But Park was absolutely awful. I thought it was a clear sign that this is his last season at United.

That's a though, I bet Park would make a great fullback if he took a bit of time to learn the position. He may be turning into our new John O'Shea.

If there ever was a game to convince Fergie that he has a future at OT, now is the game for Gibson.

I would have started Rooney over Berbatov unless there's something we've not been informed of. Berbatov scored and if I'm honest I did want to see him get more game time, but Rooney's work rate in the hole might be required due to the lack of a defence we have because of injuries.

It'll be an interesting game, I think Wigan will fancy their chances to get something now so let's hope that plays into our hands with Valencia, Nani, and Hernández hurting them on the break.

did he convince the doubters against palace when given the chance, he is only here to make up the numbers.

fecking hell, just wanted a nice boxing day game to watch us rack up a few goals..

:nervous:

I guess in this situation you need to basically judge a striker on their individual strengths, the coach has obviously seen something he could add in a particularly situation and he's senior enough a squad player to be considered.

But since benches are probably most appropriate for having two players to cover every position, you probably make a good argument for having Kuszczak there instead.

Credit to Fergie for making a potentially boring, foregone conclusion excting.

As something completely crazy, put Gibson next to Evans and play Carrick in midfield, it's not as if Gibson can do any worse playing in defence than he can in midfield. I'm sure Fergie's putting him out there to score a goal, put in a show, bump up his transfer value a little and perhaps tempt someone to come in for him...

6-0 you cnuts.

So when we are playing high, Carrick going to sit in front of the defence like a sweeper/defensive midfielder ?

We'll be fine, you turds. Only thing i thought is one of Ravel or Pogba should be on the bench when there are no proper midfielders in there

Absolutely. Its difficult to see when these guys are going to get a real chance for the forseeable future.

Not sure about the "we'll be fine" bit. Wigan aren't playing badly at all and will be very encouraged by this United line up.

Very dodgy lineup, not confident. Wigan are playing well recently. They have a very athletic team, something that we do not today. Would be very happy with three points. They could provide some shaky moments for us.

I suppose Diouf is there to back up the wingers, though I don't think he's got much to offer from there, most of his games for the first team have been on the wing.

I suppose if a midfielder gets injured we can move Valencia or Carrick up and bring in Fryers or Rafael. Though I'd have rather seen Ravel get on the bench myself.
