Pay attention to the game and analyze how he can get better with what's missing in our midfield. He shouldn't be playing fecking candy crush when he's such a mediocre player. That's not professional.

Oh because he was on his phone during a 90 minute match it means he's unprofessional? Give it a rest.

Why would Fellaini be rested? Makes no sense. He's barely played. Smalling had played 8 games in a row, only one of them not the whole 90 minutes. We've got Evans and Vidic and Rafael who are all better and he went with Rio and Valencia as CB and RB cover on the bench, probably to give us more options up front.

If an injury isn't the reason for his absence then that's worrying. A position we're really short in, all this money spent on him and he's not even picked.

Yes - I agree. It would be worrying. But I just can't see why he would be out of favour. He did reasonably well on Wednesday - was one of our more positive performers for me. So, I'm going to assume he is injured or rested - although I certainly agree that it seems unnecessary to rest him, unless it's part of some fitness scheme we are unaware of.

Yes it does. He should be figuring out why he's been such a failure than playing a game on his phone. How you don't see that is beyond me mate.

Was he suspended for today's game? I don't get why he didn't play considering he had his first half decent game for us the other day.

He wasn't on the bench so really I don't it's an issue at all.

Me neither. We had this with a player a couple years back iirc but I can't remember who it was.

If an issue is to be made, it should be about Rio cracking himself up on the bench. I'm not saying we should comment it btw, I find these things completely pointless for us fans to talk about.

The audacity of someone being on the phone when not playing. What a useless sack of shit he really is. It's all Marouane's fault.

Are some people really calling to play him in the hole? How far things have fallen...

I suppose we could ask him to dye his hair green. Then we could hang baubles from it, and wrap tinsel round his neck, and stick him in a corner somewhere.

I thought he was pretty good against Everton the other night particularly in the first half when we controlled the game

it wasn't until we messed around with the formation, putting Welbeck up top and Kagawa left that we started to struggle

Fellaini is destined to be the scapegoat for the Moyes reign regardless.....I watched the game in the pub and fans are so quick to jump on him

you can tell as much from some of the comments in this thread - its not his fault we paid 28 million

Exactly, I hope him and Moyes come good and prove everyone wrong.

Its hard not to make a scapegoat of him, like Berbatov we signed him expecting so much but since coming here hes put in some really poor performances and not really shown much. I think against City where he didn't bother to track his runners which resulted in goals just showed how behind he is in terms of positioning and being aware of his surroundings - which isn't hard to believe given at Everton he was deployed as a target man.

Lets not forget that is was also our only signing and many thought he would finally bring some sort of steel to our midfield we've been missing since Fletchers illness which just added to that expectation. Sadly that's not happened.

I'm a fan of the guy and am willing to give him time but when a manager whos spent a lot of time with you would rather play a 20 something year old defender in midfield ahead of you something is definitely wrong. Maybe Moyes misjudged his ability to play in the middle of the park?

My hope is he at least improves to the point of being able to do a job as a pure holding midfielder. So far he's been far off even that level, but he should be able to do as much.

It's true about the fans getting on his back but he's asking for it by looking like he doesn't care. The defending for Everton's winner is a perfect example. A minimum of work ethic and that is never a chance.

What did you expect from Fellaini in his first 10 games?

Phil Neville has said himself he needs time to settle and he has joined us at an awful time - the position we are in coupled with the silly transfer fee don't help

As Neville said Evra and Vidic needed time to settle at United and were pish for a while - they turned out ok - I think Fellaini will eventually do a really good job for us as a squad midfielder and we are yet to see the best of him

As am I, unfortunately when he came a lot were expecting a Yaya Toure type of impact - or that's what I had in my mind. That didn't happen and people are annoyed.

Again its not his fault our CEO spent the transfer window trying to get him on the cheap only for him to overpay in the end but I feel when hes been given a opportunity hes not exactly taken it.

Po,

He wouldnt cope with the pace of current team.
In pre season he was doing well for that very side that you are now seeing giving people hell. It's not like the playing pace of the side suddenly flew up upon his departure. Beside, the slower than Fellaini, Garreth Barry doesn't look lost in that side.

I can't see Fellaini fitting into the current Everton midfield at least not ahead of either Barry or McCarthy. A lot of it is down to form though

He's better than McCarthy. He'd obviously start in this Everton side.
I think they would occupy different role. Fellaini would be better in the more advanced #10 position, McCarthy is better in CM/DM position and will get the nod over him.

Is he better than McCarthy at what McCarthy is there to do though, to be that playmaker? Don't think so, Fellaini would either be in for Barry as the destroyer who is playing so much better than him right now or for Barkley who offers a different sort of number 10 and again probably plays that style better than Fellaini would. Fellaini would add more than he does in his more physical approach but then that's not how Martinez wants to play. I don't know if Martinez would want to adapt his approach for Fellaini particularly when Lukaku already gives them Fellaini's main asset which is that physicality up top.

I mean if he was in his best form then you'd hope he could give more than Barry but right now he certainly isn't and in his best form as I said I don't think he's a better passer than McCarthy or would play the number ten role like Barkley does. Ultimately Carrick aside their midfielders are better than ours and he can't even get in to our side every week. Hopefully he steps up his game as he can do better than this.

Martinez must thank Moyes every day for giving him 27.5 mil for him. He's a decent player at best but Barry is a much better passer, and McCarthy is much more mobile and has more to his game. No way would Fellaini start as a #10 ahead of Barkley either. Also, Everton didn't have McCarthy and Barry and probably wouldn't have bought/loaned either of them if Fellaini hadn't gone our way.

Better than McCarthy at what exactly? They are completely different players and McCarthy was much more the kind of player that we needed. The signing of Fellaini is baffling.
