Yeah, we've been terrible but he doesn't even look like a player. He's completely failed to do the one thing he was signed for. He's supposed to be a big unit who doesn't get bullied around. He's made a fairy like Nasri look like Chuck Norris when he's gone up against Toure.

Kevin was saying he's a beast, he's just not. Add to the fact that he has no imagination in his passing and just generally doesn't move it quickly and neatly enough. He's a decent player and he will add something, he's admittedly been below his best, but it's worrying that he was considered one of our top targets.

feck off Ramshock. I've not blamed him for today, its not all his fault, but he's provided none of the steel he's supposed to be able to provide. We've been walked all over in midfield, and that's the job he's supposed to be there to do.

Aye agree with you Nev, you know I like Fellaini but he's been fecking dreadful today and hasn't done what he's supposed to.

Actually thought he would have a decent chance going toe to toe with Toure, but feck me it has been brutally one sided.

Maybe a match like this will show him what he needs to be a Manchester United player.

He is not nearly one yet.

Steel against all those midfielders?? How many fecking legs does the man have? He was put in a two man midfield against Toure and City what is he supposed to do about it on his own? The whole thing rests on Moyes shoulders. Poor selection and poor tactics

The fault does lie with Moyes admittedly, even if Fellaini fails at United, he did sign him.

Attempt to provide some sort of defensive cover. No one is saying it's easy and simple against a player like Toure, but he's completely failed at what he's supposed to do today and he has been bullied by Toure. They're playing a midfield two like us. It's not like they're actually playing with more men, yet you seem to be making out as if they have a midfield 6 or something when you say "all those midfielders".

They are playing the same tactic you nutter, its only Fernandinho and Toure in there vs Carrick and Fellaini.

Both sides have forwards dropping deeper to help with Welbeck/Rooney/Aguero - but its the same set up. They have just been much better

He's had a bad day as has our team. The blame is on Moyes for today, but Fellaini has not had a good game either.

Tbf, City are playing a midfield 2. Same as us.

He was put in a two man midfield along side Carrick against a two man midfield. He's been awful. Even worse after he was put further up the pitch. Probably got dispossessed the most out of anyone today.

What's his best position?

In behind the striker probably, where we have at least two players that are much better there as it's their normal position, plus others who are probably as capable as him.

Not when they are dropping 3 in there on top of that and playing triangles all over the shop. Rooney should have been dropped in midfield and Kagawa too. We should have gone like for like with Hernandez up front to keep that back line in check. A midfield five of Carrick, Fellaini Rooney Kagawa and Nani/Cleverly would have been better. Even better If I was brave Id have put Januzaj in later in the game.

He was a nightmare against us when we played Everton in that position, but for a team like United he isn't good enough to play there.

He could've tracked the two men he was stood beside for the two goals either side of half time that killed the game.

It's fecking 2 v 2. Where are all these extra midfielders that we don't have? They're playing 2 wide and Aguero behind a front man, like Rooney is for us. We're playing an identical line-up, with 2 each in central midfield. Ours have just allowed Toure to walk all over them, something Fellaini was supposed to stop. He hasn't, he's played like a pussy.

Jesus feckin christ.

Ramshock having near as much of a nightmare as Fellaini. He's quicker to react though in fairness.

He's out of his depth because it's his first ever game at this level for us and the whole team has had an absolute shocker.

Agreed. Vidic and Evra had worse games against city on their debut, and they have rarely looked 'out of their depth' since. Today the whole team was wank, they had a shocker, and City have to be given credit for the way they took us apart. It's nothing new, we have been poor for a while in the big games. Unfortunately the transfer window was a chance to bring in some real top players, and we couldn't get it done.

The big difference today is City's world class players - Aguero, Toure and Kompany - produced their best form when it mattered in the derby. Our best player was out, and the players we would have looked at to perform, just didn't. It's that simple for me, nothing to do with Fellaini. He was simply a new signing swept along by the whole ineptitude of the team today. We deserved nothing more from the game, we should simply put it behind us and focus on bouncing back. That is the real test for moyes team now, they took a real beating and now they have to respond.

Easy scapegoat. But real problem today was piss poor performances by the likes of Young, Rio and Welbeck.

Early days, but I've yet to see what he offers that Cleverley does not. Apart from being taller.

How many wide players did we have and how many wide players did they have. And by wide players I mean out on the wing not their waist size
They had one hug the line winger who stays out on the right hand side, and a right footer on the left who comes inside.

And we had......?

He's a second-rate player. No tempo, pace, technique or influence. Adds nothing to our squad besides hair.

Clearly. Let's judge him game by game. One game we should say he was decent, the next we'll call him shit.

Sound good?

The following has happened:

We paid £27m for Fellaini, which any sane person stated that this was a gross overvaluation.
He played in his first remotely testing game, away to City.
He was absolutely terrible in midfield.
We totally changed the system and deployed him as a striker.
