MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

Also worth mentioning that Rooney is implying the current team isn't good enough to win the league, after consistently playing worse than any of them since the start of the season.

The fecking cheek of him demanding we sign better players when he can't even outperform a 20 year old Mexican in his first season in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, down in London, a young Spaniard has consistently been Arsenal's best player, despite being denied his dream move in the summer and Wenger failing to sign the new keeper every fecker on the planet knows they need to win the league.

There's another spaniard who I really respect atm. He's in an even bigger shithole and still not jumping ship despite having the ability to command whatever wages he wants.
Unfortunately, I never thought it would be Rooney out of these 3 to do this.

"We're not attracting the top players"

But the player we sign to replace Ronaldo was Rooney best assister last season.

The irony

The fact you look at the "assists" as proof of Uniteds capability to attract the best suggests you should stick to the transfer rumours section.

Your stupidity is wasted in here. it really is.

The Mirror are nuts

If Fergie drops Rooney til Jan, he can at least play the Football Manager 2011 demo - exclusively available on MirrorFootball from midnight!

For those that want the Glazers gone, this could be a pivotal moment, because the contents of what was said to Rooney could prove beyond any doubt that Fergie is having his budgets restricted by the owners.

If bringing that out into the open, and David Gill has to admit that we are skint and that there is no money for players, then great.. Well done Rooney.. Nice one mate... Now pack your bags and feck off.. You've just done us all the biggest favour.

I want the Glazers gone as much as anyone fred but this is bollocks. It's all about money and you know it.

Thing is, we've never been able to attract the best. Maybe in British Isles and Eire but not in the world.

I didn't think we could top last season's derbies for tastiness... but if City line up with Rooney and Tevez next season, Christ it's going to be mental.

This isn't about the Glazer agenda that some fans have. This is about Rooney and his lies. Don't confuse the two and don't villify Rooney just because he's worded his statement to fit your cause and hopefully get himself out of a mess. He's playing you all here.

We were only on course to win the league with Rooney's goals. The moment he was out injured, look what happened.

He asked for reinforcements (the two players quote) and got Smalling and Bebe instead.

But yes, dick move from Wayne.

Erm... I'm talking about this season. When he's been shite.

I go and have dinner and come back to this!

What the feck!

Does anyone have the full statement? I've only read quotes, not the whole thing in one.

Wayne Rooney has confirmed he wants to leave Manchester United.

Rooney has released a statement in response to Sir Alex Ferguson's comments on Tuesday.

And in it, he confirms he wants to leave Old Trafford.

"I met with David Gill last week and he did not give me any of the assurances I was seeking about the future squad," said Rooney.

"I then told him that I would not be signing a new contract."

Rooney admitted he was surprised by the depth of Ferguson's comments yesterday.

He remains a big fan of the United boss but says the future direction of the club was causing him concern.

"I was interested to hear what Sir Alex had to say yesterday and surprised by some of it," continued Rooney.

"It is absolutely true, as he said, that my agent and I have had a number of meetings with the club about a new contract. During those meetings in August I asked for assurances about the continued ability of the club to attract the top players in the world.

"I have never had anything but complete respect for MUFC. How could I not have done given its fantastic history and especially the last six years in which I have been lucky to play a part?

"For me it's all about winning trophies - as the club has always done under Sir Alex. Because of that I think the questions I was asking were justified.

"Despite recent difficulties, I know I will always owe Sir Alex Ferguson a huge debt. He is a great manager and mentor who has helped and supported me from the day he signed me from Everton when I was only 18.

"For Manchester United's sake I wish he could go on forever because he's a one-off and a genius."

Fernando Torres was responsible for one of the best quotes I have ever heard from a footballer (it's just a pity I can't bloody find it right now!) but it was basically, "When you retire, no one remembers how much you earned."

I didn't think we could top last season's derbies for tastiness... but if City line up with Rooney and Tevez next season, Christ it's going to be mental.

Too right

He'd get fecking slaughtered but us lot. Thinks the toffees are bad towards him... that's nothing!

This need quoting. In large text.

Rooney's treading new ground here. Loads of examples of players who fancied a move, whether for a better chance of a trophy, or a fatter contract (Torres and Fabregas spring to mind) but this is the first time any footballer has ever tried to bully the club/manager into giving him what he wants with such a public display of dissent. Fergie can't ever pick him again after this. He's been astonishingly disrespectful to his manager and his team-mates. There's no way he can start another game.

I couldn't give a feck about whether there's any truth to his alleged reasons for wanting to leave (and there might well be) but the way he's going about it is setting a new low.

And he's doing all this immediately after spending the summer letting down his country and disgracing his family?

Absolutely despicable human being. Scum of the earth. I hope he's shown the door tomorrow. Don't give a feck whether we get any money for him or not. Not fit to wear the shirt.

I agree with all you say in here , all Rooney has done is shit on the club , fans , manager in fact everything and everybody to do with United.
He is saying that the team is not good enough for him to play in without spending money , well he is right about us needing to spend money this is not the way to go about it.
How do you think the rest of the players think about it , he is saying they are not good enough to play with Wayne fecking Rooney , well feck you Rooney , United are bigger than you we was winners before you came here and we will still be winners without you.
He should be banned from Carrington and OT and never allowed to wear the shirt ever again.
I wish we could just sack the disrepectful shit.

I go and have dinner and come back to this!

What the feck!

Deep down he knows he's in the wrong and fully to blame. Not Malcom, not Gill, not Fergie, but the fat balding pea-brained granny rapist. He wouldn't have made up some cnutish statement trying to blame the club for not signing anyone or that we don't have ambitions anymore. Get to feck, this club, no ambitions? LOL, that's the biggest bunch of horse wank I've heard.

To do this all mid October as well? fecking absolute disgrace. Have a bit of fecking respect. Hope he sits on the sidelines for the rest of his career and achieves feck all. It's what he deserves. Money grabbing cnut.

Does anyone have the full statement? I've only read quotes, not the whole thing in one.
Football365 | All The News | Football News | ROONEY: I WANT TO LEAVE MAN UNITED

He'll find that he'll never be a legend wherever he goes.

He does not have the skills that makes one like Maradona,

or the loyalty to stay at a club, to fight even when the going gets tough, like Giggs, who could easily have left but chose to stay.

If he had laid all the cards on the table and said, " I love the club and the fans, but the truth is that my services are worth twice the money United will pay", I could have had a tiny bit of respect for him. This bollocks about " lack of ambition" just makes me want to
puke. Lying scouse cnut.

I always credited you with having half an ounce of intelligence.

Clearly you seem intent on proving me wrong.

For those that want the Glazers gone, this could be a pivotal moment, because the contents of what was said to Rooney could prove beyond any doubt that Fergie is having his budgets restricted by the owners.

I began to reply to this post. Then I realised you just don't get it. Probably never will.

Let me just try and put it simply:

Wayne Rooney wants money. He's not going to admit that. He knows that United fans are angry at the ownership. Cue smoke and mirrors.

Do the math, Fred. You're better than this.

You take it out of context.

When I say he's pulled a blinder I mean he's gone for the weakest part of Uniteds defence. As someone else put it. He's gone for the achilles heel.

This has feck all to do with the club, its got feck all to do with Fergie.

This is about a fat greedy scouse twat and a fecking lying twat who thinks everyone is stupid enough to believe every bit of crap he spouts about how the club can afford to compete and how we are not facing any difficulties.

THe person I feel sorry for is Fergie, because he stuck between the two of them.

feck Rooney off. No doubt. But also feck that lying two faced cnut off as well.

I see what they are trying to do, but only people with previous against Gill are really going to have him as the axis of evil in this. Rooney is leaving a club who were 1 point off an historic four in a row.

With all the anti United/Gill/Glazer hyerbole Rooney has managed to harness just about none of it, so to say his camp have played a blinder is wrong. With the fuel at their disposal they have made a cock of it, but they don't care about the means, just the 15% at the end.

That is what I mean about you not even liking United, they are the losers in this. They have lost arguably their best player mid season, with no real gain on any front.

The fact you look at the "assists" as proof of Uniteds capability to attract the best suggests you should stick to the transfer rumours section.

Your stupidity is wasted in here. it really is.

Your anti-glazers and anti-gill ideas are making you go totally nuts.

goodness he has shame our club in public with this kind of comments, little wonder fergie telling him to show respect to the club, he has none at all...

me too -he deserves it.

what an unbelievable prick!!! Can't imagine how he couldv'e make himself look like a bigger cnut.

The statement is so full of delusion, disrespect, hypocrisy, unprofessionalism and pure stupidity, its not even worth deconstructing. It is so blatantly about the arab wad of cast, its almost funny.

feck off you fat, stupid scouser.

I hope his career goes down the shitter. And now that we clearly know that he and his "advisors" have half a brain cell between them, thats pretty likely.

What he said was massively offensive for 3 main reasons.

1. If it's true, he's disrespected all his teammates (who are ALL playing much better than him right now), who he's basically said are shit. Rio, Vidic, Evra, Fletcher, Nani, Giggs, Scholes, Berbatov... these are not shit players. Some of them, like Giggs and Scholes, have had a far, far better careers than Rooney will ever have, have been better players (in my opinion) and are infinitely better human beings. He's also disrespected a manager who has been in football since before his thug of a dad hit puberty and is the most talented, respected and successful manager in the history of the game.

2. It's blatantly not true, and so he's insulting all the fan's intelligence by spinning us this drivel. 99.999999% of us are enormously more intelligent than Rooney, we can see through his lies in an instant.

3. The real reason he's going is because he's been offered obscene, ridiculous amounts of money at some other team, probably because of some rich Arab. We as fans have always paid his ludicrous wages, now he's saying it's not enough. He wants another ten mansions, and another fifteen Bentleys, and another thirty Rolex watches... all for kicking a ball about, and missing the net.

1) Fair comment. He's disrespected the players

2) No. What he's saying is true. But the stupid cnut has had 5 years to open his mouth and he's not done it. THis isnt suddenly shocking news. He's known all along the situation. Why now to bring it up.

If he's genuine about the lack of ambition then fine. Tell us what David Gill said and what it was about that, that you disagree with. What has changed now that wasnt the case 2 or 3 years ago when you signed your last deal.

3) Welcome to football.

I hope SAF picks him one more time before January so the fans can show him how much respect we have for him. :smirk:

Lying rat.

I really hope this doesn't turn into a public slanging match with the pair of them trying to claim some sort of moral victory. I hope SAF doesn't comment on this. The one thing is fact; the team will suffer if this bollocks continues.

Also worth mentioning that Rooney is implying the current team isn't good enough to win the league, after consistently playing worse than any of them since the start of the season.

This, fecking this.

This is so much worse than Ronaldo, Ronaldo stayed an extra year when he COULD have moved, was our best player again and respectful to the club.

Rooney has just been shite. feck off.

I always credited you with having half an ounce of intelligence.

Clearly you seem intent on proving me wrong.

The irony isn't lost on me fred that Rooney and his PR team have counted entirely on the desperation of people like you to think that. And yet you're calling me stupid

Everything he's just said contradicts his first offensive, which was to claim a breakdown with the manager, and an argument over an injury, and it contradicts his attitude only 6 months ago and the whole of last season whilst the G&G movement was more prominent and obvious than it is now and he was as happy as larry.

You've played right into the hands of Stretford et all. It's the intelligence of fans like you they're aiming at with that complete bollocks of a statement.

Well done. Thankfully most fans aren't as "intelligent" as you.

I wonder how Rooney actually posed the question to Gill? Did he have a list of players he'd like to see at United and crossed them off as he read them out to Gill?

If Rooney knew anything about the history of United, then he should have known that we create legends, we never buy them.

A new four year deal fulfilled would have given Rooney the opportunity to seal his own legendary status with the club. He has now just pissed all over his own legacy.

Well done Wayne. Hope you get your millions. You'll probably need them when Coleen divorces you and the sponsorship deals all dry up.

When I say they've played a blinder, I mean to the average football fan on teh streets.

You know damn well the press and the opposition are going to come firmly out on Rooneys side now. So for a PR exercise he has pulled a blinder. He will have every neutral fan sat firmly saying "fair play to the lad.. what a hero.. coming out and speaking openly"

Fergie pulled a blinder yesterday.. Rooney has just countered it.

The saving grace now is that the onus is on David Gill to respond, because Fergie and Rooney have clearly now both said there hasnt been a problem between the two of them. No one can blame Fergie for this.

Well what is certain now is there is no hope of him changing his mind. I did hold out a sliver of hope he would come to his senses but it seems the lines in the sand have been drawn and he is off. Now why couldn't he have signed a mega deal and then decided he wanted to go.

Can we get special dispensation from FIFA to sell him right now?

David Gill:lol::lol::lol:

Very interesting that David Gill said when they announced the unprecedented losses the other week that 'we don't have to sell Wayne Rooney'. Yet at that point he must have known that we were in fact going to do exactly that.

Was he preparing us in his 'debt is the road to ruin' way.

Maybe is is an anti-gimp agent after all

Assurances about the squads future?

He's not the brightest tool in the box sometimes, but the assurance of a squad hasn't changed that much from April where he said he'd be at the club for life. So using that as a reason is complete & utter bollocks and an easy way to gloss over that he wants some more money.
