MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

Rooney Statement
October 20th, 2010

If there was a possibility of Wayne Rooney staying at Manchester United that has certainly ended after tonight’s statement prior to an important Champions League game. The issued statement by Rooney is laughable and raises questions about him and his advisers mentality, in that, he has the audacity to question Sir Alex Ferguson’s ambition and the standing of our great club. I would just like to remind everyone that Manchester United lost the title by one point last season and went out of the Champions League through a sending off and that no team has the divine right to win the title every season.

No player has ever had the right to question and seek assurances about the current and future Manchester United squad, no matter their talent and let’s be honest, there has been far more talented players in the history of Manchester United, who have and would never demand such folly. It is obvious that a deal has already been done behind the manager and the club’s back for such a statement to be released. I am sure that I am not the only one who feel’s extremely let down by the player, however in the modern age I can accept that the movement of any player can happen no matter their club. The difference here is Rooney’s management has tried to engineer a move on the basis of belittling our great club and manager which just makes it all the more disappointing.

I know who I will back and I know who the fans will back and I want everyone to get behind our great team and Manager.

I think Rooney will need some ointment for that BURN (herpes)!

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is eager to stop the Wayne Rooney issue from becoming a "saga".

Striker Rooney, 24, says he wants to leave the club, suggesting they lack the resources to match his ambition.

Ferguson said he was meeting chief executive David Gill at 1000 BST on Thursday to discuss United's next move.

But the Scot is keen to quash further Rooney talk and said: "What is really important is for us to put it to bed, we don't want it to become a saga."

This!

If is it true that Rooney's advisors have been seeking an agreement with City behind United's back (presumably for Rooney to buy out his contract next summer?) then it'll be interesting to see what happens if United and Madrid were to agree a deal in January...if Rooney flat out refused to join Madrid it would confirm all suspicions, and I'm sure it would lead to a legal battle. I can stomach Rooney joining Madrid, it's a mistake many big name idiots have made in the past, but I couldn't stand it if Rooney were to piss off to City (or Chelsea).

I think that's unlikely considering there is an unwritten law among most of the to clubs not to use that when buying a player?

Every. fecking. Night. I try to work on this 6500 word report I end up spending most of the evening being generally restless and refreshing twitter every 15 seconds for breaking Rooney news.

You're telling me?! My net's capped so I'm stuck on dial-up speeds! DIAL-UP!!! You have ANY idea how long it takes for pages to load?!?

Just a quick question. If you, as a player, buy out your contract. Can you then go to a club in the same country? I remember that was the case with Heinze, even though if he would have bought himself out of his contract he wouldn't have been able to join Liverpool cause of some rule.

A part of me would like him to go to City. It'd be nice to know that whilst we continue our success he is sat just across the road watching it all. City may well win a trophy or two, they'll win the PL in the next 5 or so years, but it won't be sustained success. It'll be a one off like Blackburn.

Ta-Ra Wayne. I hope you enjoy showing your grandchildren your bank statements as opposed to your football medals.

You can go wherever you want if you buy out your contract but most of the clubs have an unwritten law they won't invoke Websters Rule so I doubt Rooney and City would do that but it's City so you never know.

k, thanks.

This might come as a shock to the likes of you but not everyone on here solely supports the club only because they win trophies.

Supporting a club means sticking with them through the rough and the smooth (that's where the word 'support' comes in).

A lot of people have said that this is potentially a transitional period. Fergie pretty much alluded to it himself with his comments last night.

When the going gets tough, we see what people are made of. Wayne Rooney has shown his colours to be not red or blue but yellow.

thats why i wake up at 4am to watch my team from the youngsters who have only started their careers like raphael nani ,obertan to the vintage rolls rocye's giggs and scholes who are nearing the end..

its not really about winning titles that is a added bonus..

to me its about the watching the GREATEST ever manager at the GREATEST CLUB in the world nurture and develop some young players and enable them to fullfill their potential..

unfortunetly some like ronaldo and rooney get two big for their own shoes and think they are bigger than the club..

Why not?

People can we drop the rumors about city and all this nonsense. It's not factual. It does not help the situation. The only fact is Waynes a United player and there will be a meeting today. The best thing for everyone is to let the club deal with it.

All the rumors mean feck all. If you cannot verify it 100% then don't say it because it's not helping. What we want is for Wayne to stay. That's what the club wants. Now we don't know if what Wayne said is truthful. We know feck all. Trust the boss and IF he stays forgive the player

If he leaves, it's his loss but he hasn't gone yet and to rip into the player only causes division and unrest in the camp which is what the media and other clubs want. So leave it up to Sir Alex to deal with it. Shooting ourselves in the foot, when their is a chance the lad could be telling the truth and could stay, is fecking stupid and saying we won't forgive him is arrogent and petty.

OK, so Fergie and Gill were meeting at 10 today. Are we expecting some news from this? Midday? Mid-afternoon?

Or tomorrow?

It wasn't at 10am ;) there was another meeting. It will probably be later on today but we might not hear anything today

Not so much, I couldn't stomach it because of the gloating from City fans, the huge song and dance that would be made about it in the media. I don't want to see any of our former players in City colours let alone a former talisman. If Rooney leaves I don't want to see his fecking face again every day. I want him in Spain, out of sight and out of mind.

You're on cloud fecking cuckoo land. He'll never put on a United shirt again.

I'm kinda following this loosely. What's the general verdict/rumour. Was Rooney tapped up by City this summer or not?

Meeting delayed. Quote from vidic on twitter slapping Rooney down as well. I'd suggest he's not going to be welcome on the training pitch. I doubt he can go back to united/carington now even to train.

what Ronaldo did was worse..... give me a fecking break. You people are being daft here. He AGREED with blatter that he was being treated like A SLAVE... and we kept him inspite of that

You are so arrogent you even ignore what Sir Alex said. The idea that Sir Alex is making that up about a contract is silly....and you need to think again. Sir Alex will do the best for the club, and leave all else behind. If you don't play the player - for a start his value depreciates and you lose ANY chance you had of him signing a contract....

What Sir Alex pointed out is it is unfair for the fans to call for Rooney when he knows that Rooney is not commited to United at this time. We've seen plenty of bs down the years and this is more of the same. All these twitter comments mean dick - at the end of the day Sir Alex has control of the dressing room.

Fantastic stuff from Paddy, puts the scrote right in his place.

Did you even see Ferguson's response in the interviews after the game last night? Rooney to suggest that the club lacks ambition riled him big time.

It's nothing about arrogance, its called being real. Can you truly see Wayne coming back? He doesn't want to, which means he'll cause a distraction for the team. Something which Ferguson doesn't want. He won't play again.

Rooney is going around and talking about the bad playing, or something happening around the club with the Glazers - it is not good for the players and not good for the team," Vidic told Sky Sports following the 1-0 win over Bursaspor

:nervous::nervous::nervous: vida might do something crazy to shrek he really should stay away from vida ok he might be ok at boxing but i reckon he would get owned big time :D
