MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

Okay, now i've never openly slagged off Rooney as a player but i'd just for a minute like to point out that in my honest opinion i think he is a bit overrated. This is as a non-united fan and is not a knee jerk after his show of utter disregard for the club and manager and fans.

My reason being that whilst he is a top player he goes through very long stretches of poor form. His reputation honestly exceeds his ability. (or if not ability then performances)

Also just another point i'd like to make, wasn't it Rooney who said that he was glad to "step up" after Ronaldos departure? he liked the added responsiblity and was thriving as the main man?

what the feck is he going to do now? feck off to madrid and play second fiddle to Ronaldo and co? He could have been a legend, now he'll be just another top player who found out the hard way. The grass is not greener on the other side.

Is a new contract actually being discussed? Why would they need to discuss so many lawyers and meet the players agent for accepting an offer ?

andy_phipps Too many lawyers & too many meetings just for Rooney
leaving. I wonder if the new contract is being discussed?

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Nothing like a good old let down

Although it would feel good, that would be a very foolish thing to do by Sir Alex and the management.

The best thing would be for us to pretend everything is patched up, then we sell in January, ensuring we get a reasonable amount of money.

Yeah, you are right, that's sensible. Still, it would feel better if we could get rid of him right now.

At least I spent the afternoon imagining what it's like to be in between Natalie Sawyers jubblies.

This is a bigger let down than the Ozil thread.

I am guessing they are talking about a new contract. Surely if it was to transfer list him then it wouldn't take so long.

That's what I said earlier. Either they're discussing a new contract or discussing with another club how exactly he will be sold and what happens to him between now and January.

This. Why would they need lawyers and Rooney's representatives just to put him on the transfer list or just to discuss offers from clubs?

Unless the club wanted Rooney's agents to know they won't sell to City?

Interesting that the door may still be open. They are talking with his representatives. As SAF said, the door is open and he will mean that, but he will not go begging.

More along the lines that he'll get a move but some sort of non disclosure agreement by both sides will be negotiated

Please don't offer him a new contract. Sorry, but it's too far done for me now. After his statement the other day, where he basically shot down his own team-mates, how can he come back after this?

Just feck off Wayne.

The way this was handled by the club is atrocious. He should have been sold from the minute he wanted away and let the rest of the team work in peace. That is why we have been playing like donkeys, because there's probably feckload of tension in the dressing room.

What I say is let the fecker rot between now and the end of his contract. Not even play him in the reserves. feck the money you would get from him (although there's a fecking fat chance of that happening with the Glazers in charge), and teach everyone in the footballing world a lesson.

YOU SCOUSE BASTARD!

Maybe we have proof his agent has been talking to other clubs behind our back, or hes buying out his contract

That's a good point, actually.

Would be hilarious if Rooney did sign a new contract at United.

The amount of words being eaten by us cnuts would break some kind of record.

I think it's more about trying to get him to stay until the summer and not going out because of the websters ruling, they are trying to find some way around it. Fans might destroy him and all, but I don't think the team is stupid enough to think they are going to replace him properly in January, and they'll try and persuade him he doesn't want to sit out watching his "new" team potentially in a CL final.

This is only going to affect the team and the atmosphere at OT the longer it goes on. Just do away with the balding scouser and let us get on with the football.

nickcoppack I just left Old Trafford. Poor James Cooper (SSN) was still there in the car park, hungry and shivering in the dark like a (news) hound.

As I said earlier I feel the most likely scenario is we are trying to tie up a deal to Real now rather than January and avoid him joining City IMHO

Please tell me all these meetings with his representatives weren't to try and thrash out a new deal for the cnut?? when it says "the results of todays meetings will become clear soon2 to me sounds like weve put something on the table and Rooney and his people are considering it, i just hope not, thats like giving the little twat what he wants basically and he dosnt deserve it.

Move on, transfer list him.
