MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

Ronaldo got a good reception for treating the club well, Rooney hasn't tried leaving amicably and will get serious shit for that.

True in the sentence that Ronaldo didnt question the clubs willing to go for trophies. But he did get alot of stick after the world cup.

@danroan Sir Alex cancels press conference but he's due to give MUTV interview later - understand rumours of reapprochment wide of mark

I have a feeling he'll stay.

At the same time I really don't think he has the mentallity to be able to handle the boo's and stick he's gonna get for us. It'll take a lot of goals and a lot of great performances before they even begin to stop.

highly doubt it. Even some of our fine players have spoken against him.

Not from United fans. United > England. He got an amazing reception at OT. And went on to win POTY.

Not? I remember him being booed at OT by United fans, considering he said he wanted to leave.. But I admit, Rooney will get a living hell if he steps onto the pitch in a United shirt.

That was the opposition. When he said he wanted to leave in 2008 he didn't get booed, he just didn't get as much affection from the fans as before i.e not much chanting of "Viva Ronaldo" .

As time went on, most fans just accepted it and he still had a fairly good season and left with Fergie's and the clubs blessing.

Not a jeer in the house.

If Rooney wants to see big names join #MUFC, what better than today's link with Thailand goalkeeper Kawin Thamsatchanan?

Jeesuz Rahul - was you on crack that night?

Most of the applause was because we were struggling against a defensive Villareal and we wanted a new option. My excuse anyway...

There were definately some boos for Ronaldo at that Villareal game.

He definitely got booed by our support, for you to say otherwise is wrong.

There were definately some boos for Ronaldo at that Villareal game.

Sorry Ixion. There couldn't have been a better applause. Wasn't just my edited memory either - on here a lot of posters went nuts about the cnut getting too much love from the 'daytrippers'.

I think if it had been the same scenario for Rooney and he was making his "so-called return" against Villareal and placed in Ronaldo's position. I don't think he'd get that same reception as Ronaldo got.

Infact i'm pretty much 100% sure he'd get the booed the feck out of.

Back ON topic, Fergie should be making an announcement this morning. Well according to the all knowing all seeing BenHibbs

There was booing............. Be it at the Villereal game or after, I swear, some people want to rewrite history.

The moment Old Trafford had been waiting for arrived after 65 minutes when Ferguson unleashed Ronaldo - and the effect was instant.

Ronaldo received a rapturous reception, despite a summer of speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid, and he was quickly a threat with a volley that worried keeper Lopez.

Enough with the Ronaldo talk already. re-watch the game please.

Rooney will get his fair share of slack if he decided to stay now, especially more so as it's happened midseason, so he'll nothing to stand back on to let it fade away unlike Ronaldo who was injured for a month and Fabregas/Gerrard having their pre-season games away, but at the end of it all, like those, and countless other players going through times like this, it will be forgotten about after 3/4 games and he finds his form again.

To be fair given its Ben Hibbs saying that it probably means that SAF won't mention it again until January.

BenHibbs Should hear from the boss this morning, even though he's not doing a presser today

Well I was at the game and I know there were boos.

Mmmm - thread in question -

https://www.redcafe.net/f6/will-ronnie-booed-218221/index3.html

Amazing that we are here again asking the same question about another fallen hero...

Back on topic this argument is pointless. Rooney IF he ever played again would get slaughtered. There is no comparison at all.

They shouldnt go out their way to try and get Rooney to stay - if you have any doubt about playing for my club then you can feck off.

Fallen hero? Are you agreeing with me or not? Because there's people saying there was boos in that thread too.

No. The only person saying there was booing was Brad and he had to apologise shortly afterwards for being wrong and then launched a tirade about the applause he got.

I'm not getting into an argument about this boys. I was there and I was partly embarrassed about the level of support he got. I applauded but I never ever sung 'viva ronaldo' again :( Lets just agree there was some booing where you were while there was no booing from most of Old Trafford.

Carrick the most high-profile casualty of #mufc summer cull - Jordan Henderson and Jack Rodwell are confirmed targets (via@DuckerTheTimes)

Would be good signings I reckon. Henderson has got a bright future and Rodwell is already a brilliant player.
