Moyes So Far!

it's the idea that we were given them because we won the league so comfortably last season that's a bit ... excuseish.

It's a fecking insane thing to say, tbh.

I hope he doesn't actually believe that he's been victimised by a computer.

I think he should retire in protest.

It's silly because theres obviously no conspiracy, but he's not the first to say it, Fergie, Wenger and Jose have all complained about opening fixtures being very hard at some point, maybe it's just to take the pressure off somehow?

I actually think it's a good thing to get some of the most difficult games out of the way early on. Would it be better to go to City between two CL quarter-finals, for example? Don't think so.

So he's fecked up the pay off to the FA to give us an easy fixture list.

Thats another black mark against him, what with being ginger he's on borrowed fecking time!

I've got no problem with him having a whinge about it, but accusing the FA of a fix to make the league more competitive is just a bit retarded.

He's only saying what were all thinking to be fair. It sure is bad luck to have most your main rivals in the first 2 months.

He is not. He is suggesting something more sinister. Having to play 3 of your main rivals(2 away) in the first 5 matches is bad luck. Not the first 2 months.

"Insane" is completely over the top here, as said above, he's not the first to say it nor will he be the last, it's really just a fail-safe for managers if the results go badly.

Any why should fans do that? I don't recall Fergie having a easy supportive time when he took over (and that was us in much more difficult position than now). I don't mind giving him a fair run to prove himself, but fans will always be critical, and more so to Moyes. It is understandable. esp after Hodgson/Liverpool fiasco, I'm sure fans will support...with fingers crossed!

because there is likely to be a drop in performance/results when you lose a manager of the class of Fergie.....

because we need to realise we've hired Moyes as much for his ability but as much for his potential - I dont think he was hired with instant success as a priority - he is a long term appointment!

because he is under enough pressure without the fans getting on his back

because idiots getting on the team/managers back is hardly productive

I didn't even realise our start was so difficult; the Swansea match is absolutely massive.

Maybe he just reads the caf and is trying to get all the conspiracy theorists on board.

Remember when Michael Schumacher & Tiger Woods were winning everything in sight? Well, the authorities changed things around then (probably to maintain viewer/spectator interest); so it's not that "insane" to consider whether the fixture list is as dodgy as FA Cup draws appear to be.

It's a bit of a weird way to start the 'them vs. us' mentality...

Well, Fergie did it too with "choking on your own vomit" thing. Who knows if Moyes has said it deliberately with some other purpose or he actually meant it.

I don't trust anyone in authority...even my nan when she was boss of the dinner ladies.

I doubt Sky Sports have any say in the weekly order, I think Fergie just complained a few times about how they put games on early on Saturdays or on Mondays to suit their own schedule, but it can feck up the clubs schedule.

You all realise this is the same shit we used to praise Fergie for? He did the "fixture list is fixed" stuff in the past as well. For all we know it may well have been an off the cuff, jokey comment taken out of context and made into a story. A non-story, in fact.

How did they manage to have two super Sundays every season, with the then "Big Four" of United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool playing each other? It happened every season for about 5 in a row, that these four clubs, who happened to be the top four, got randomly selected to play each other on the same weekend.

Anyone who thinks the money men in football don't have some say on which fixtures fall on which weekend is fecking naïve, especially in these days of corporate greed and corruption.

With the money they pay, I'd imagine they get a fairly big say.

Yeah that's a good point, Super Sunday's are conveniently placed.

Yeah. And two a season is an estimate, there were probably more. During that "Big Four" spell that Sky had, where the top four clubs were hyped to the balls, if two of them played each other the other two invariably were playing on the same day. It was always United v Liverpool, followed by Chelsea v Arsenal, or some other variant. I'm no mathematician, but I'd imagine the odds of that happening randomly so often are ridiculous. Like, 50/1 or something.

Are some of you guys actually serious?

Moyes was obviously joking regarding the fixture comments IMO.

Don't think he was as the article says:

A Premier League spokesman said Moyes put his concerns to them directly. He added: "We have absolutely assured him the process is random and above board. He has accepted those assurances."

I kinda smiled when I read it, just reminds of the sort of cheeky stuff Fergie would say.... just cause he could.

I don't like how he keeps giving the excuse of him only starting the job on 1st july hence the lack of transfer activity. Surely if you're going after a few players, a month and a half is more than enough to get to know what your squad lacks and get one in by now. I dont think all the players he's interested in are all in the fabregas ronaldo calibre either that they're going to be that difficult to get.
